Freddy Bricker Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I think we've seen enough Iron Men for this theme. Maybe in a couple of years. Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Here are some of my overall comments (echoing many already said): If you are going to have multiple Spider-Man sets, why don't they throw in a costume variant or two, e.g. the Black Suit? For example, the new Hulk has the classic purple pants. Yes! I am definitely getting this set just for that alone. Thor, I like that they changed his outfit, but still no helmet? Can we please, please get a helmet next time? Wish they would stick with the classic comic variant for villians such as Elektro and Green Goblin Would be great to see some Fantastic Four sets and X-Men sets A few more Iron Man variants would be great (e.g. Mark I, V, Gemini etc.) Overall comment: much rather have smaller piece builds with higher quality rather than a bigger set - i.e. quality > quantity I know we got a lot of Iron Man sets, but I would still love to see more visually diverse Iron Man suits like the Hulkbuster, Gemini, Mark 1, Mark 2, and Red Snapper. All the ones we got were reprints of the same basic designs. Quote
DJ Bricks Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Don't forget Cyclops was also redesigned during the game's production to have a printed visor rather than the molded one from one of the early trailers. My guess on who we'll get based off the game: High Chance - Wolverine with Cowl - Storm - Cyclops - Beast - Mystique - Sabretooth Good Chance - Jean Grey - Juggernaught Decent Chance - Iceman - Pyro It really depends on how many sets we're getting though. If the line up is similar to Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel's we could see all 10 characters (2 in a small set, 3 in a medium one and 5 in a large) I think the Astonishing version of Cyclops is more likely. Due to the main having boots. Pyro has a chance, looks offical and so does Iceman and Beast. Quote

All the ones we got were reprints of the same basic designs. Well we'll get more when Avengers 2 comes out, so we really don't need anymore next year. It would be nice to get Rescue. How she looked in the game was pretty interesting. It really depends on how many sets we're getting though. If the line up is similar to Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel's we could see all 10 characters (2 in a small set, 3 in a medium one and 5 in a large) I'm interested to see how the summer wave plays out, since we really have no idea how many sets there are supposed to be. I sort of doubt we'll see 3 sets for just X-men though. I sort of expect 1-2 for X-men, 2-3 for GOTG and I'm still holding out hope for 1 ASM2 set (Or if not movie based at least a set featuring comic Rhino, Gwen Stacy and Spider-man). And I expect 1 will be a playset while the others will be vehicles. I hope we get some news on the summer wave soon. I like what we're getting in the spring, so even an O.K. summer line-up would probably make this the best Marvel year to date (I like Marvel more but I end up buying more DC sets just because they often turn out a bit better). Sam892 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I think the Astonishing version of Cyclops is more likely. Due to the main having boots. Pyro has a chance, looks offical and so does Iceman and Beast. Agreed the Astonishing version looked a lot more professional as well. The one problem I find with Mistique was the hair piece. It didn't look like its possible in real life, it seems to curve around the bottom of the head. I would think that would create a problem when assembling the Minifigure and when trying to switch to an alternate face. My guess is that the figure wouldn't be based on the game version. I also thing we may get some X-men who army in the game. Maybe Rouge, Shadow car, Nightcrawler or even Scarletwitch or Quicksilver ( while the last two aren't x-men, there's a big push for them at the moment ). I can't see either Colossus or Juggernaut this wave as Colossus didn't really look professional again and while Juggernaut did, I can't see us getting two Maxifigs in a year. We're already getting USM Goblin, if they make Colossus a normal figure then I could see it happening. Quote
Fives Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Am I the only one who noticed that Captain America is listed as Spidey in the minifig lineup? Quote
Clone OPatra Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Am I the only one who noticed that Captain America is listed as Spidey in the minifig lineup? Nope, it was mentioned a couple pages back.I haven't seen much talk about the fact that Electro appears to have trans-blue arms and head. That will make him just the second figure ever to have trans-arms, and the first to offer both arms in a trans-color. Even if you don't like that look for Electro, his parts are still pretty cool. I wouldn't expect that many, I would say just 1 X-men and 1 GotG sets. GotG can be covered in one large $120 set. For X-men, I guess either a Sentinel or X-jet as the build. I also thing we may get some X-men who army in the game. CorneliusMurdock Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 For X-men, I guess either a Sentinel or X-jet as the build. Either of which you can sign me up for now, though I'd prefer the Sentinel if done well. BaronSat made one a while back that was quite excellent. Quote
Darth Lurtz Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I can't believe we have more variants of the Hulk than we do Spiderman in the mainline. Quote
Legoman123 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 What do you guys think the price range of the X-men sets will be? Quote
legofreak86 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I admit a classic goblin would've been nice as we have a classic ock. However the only GG I have is the Sam rami version and that is such an old figure that the gold printing on the helmet has almost completely faded. So I welcome a new figure of GG and personally I think this design looks very high tech and truthfully pretty cool plus the whole idea of him transforming into a goblin creature is pretty unique and a rather new and cool concept. Just a point of interest but when typing on the comment section on site does anyone else find that it misses out letters and you have to go back and retype them? Just it only does this for me on this site no others. Perplexing.... Quote
BrickBuilder3213 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I'm pretty annoyed that we got the movie version of Electro and not the Ultimate Spider-Man version. I would've loved to have had a version of him that looks almost like the original. Quote

Amset-Rah Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Alright, here are my thoughts on these sets: Spider-Trike: Not the best build, but Electro, if he does indeed have trans-arms and a head, will be worth the price of admission alone. Doc Ock truck: Probably the best build of the Spider-Man sets. I like the classic Doc Ock figure and how they didn't give him the same tentacles from the game (As others have said, they look cool, but highly unstable) Spider-Copter: Ridiculous concept, but a decent build by the look of things. Mary Jane and Power Man are easily the highlights (Not really keen on Megafigure Goblin here), but again, the build is decent enough and could be redone in different colors for other purposes, I suppose. Capt. America: Probably my pick for "Must have" of the wave. The tank design could be better, but knowing this is Lego and they rarely if ever do militaristic vehicles, it's best not to look a gift horse in the mouth. I, again, love the minifigs (Red Skull and classic Capt. are beautifully done) and the set itself warrants a purchase. Hulk's Lab: Another must have. The minifigure selection is well done and as a whole I like how they used designs from the game with these guys. I can't really judge the build too much, since the artwork has panels flying so without them it looks a little bare, but I like the design and it's actually a location rather than a vehicle, so again, I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth. Overall, I think this is a decent line. Kids will certainly like it, and I myself am excited over some of these sets. Quote
Suspsy Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I'm fine with more CA, IM, and Thor minifigures as long as they're used as "anchors" for sets containing new characters. A set containing Abomination, Absorbing Man, She-Hulk, Agent Coulson piloting a SHIELD helicopter, and Daredevil, for example, isn't going to be as popular as a set that replaces Daredevil with Iron Man. No offense to DD, but Iron Man he's not. Quote
Repeter Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I don't understand the hate for the USM cartoon. I'm a 40yo Marvel fan and the bulk of my comic collection hails from the early 60s to the late 80s (those early issues were affordable in the 80s), so I guess you could safely call me "old skool". I think the USM cartoon is a blast and an actual original concept for a toon. The action is great, the comedy is pretty golden and the line-up of character makes for a great series, imo. I would have very little problem if the show was used as a basis for a slew of new minifigs, as many of the characters resemble their classic versions. Quote
montgocloud Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 (edited) I'm not sure why people keep complaining about us not receiving game-based Ock arms. Not only would they be unstable, it would be impossible to keep them curved like they are in the game without some sort of brace. Edited December 9, 2013 by montyofmusic Quote
strangely Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 (edited) I don't understand the hate for the USM cartoon. It's just the classic reaction of hating what you got because it wasn't what you wanted. Getting USM sets when you wanted classic SM sets is a disappointment for sure. The same goes for the set design, when you expect it to look one way and it looks another it's going to seem pretty disappointing. Almost every year it seems like there's a cavalcade of people declaring next years wave terrible, then time passes and it doesn't seem like that big of a deal. Per standard everyone will complain for a while and then once they're done focusing on the bad they'll see some good. And my hate for the show itself stems from Spectacular Spider-man being cancelled so it could be replaced with that. Edited December 9, 2013 by strangely Quote
Legoman123 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Hulk's lab has a very good assortment of minifigures. Quote
The_Creator Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I think that we could see a July wave of three GotG sets with the same prices as the IM3 wave, and an X-Men set with a brick built Sentinal and maybe some part of a street, like the Catwoman Chase set had, including Mystique, Sabretooth, Storm, and a cowled Wolverine. I'm still hoping for a CA:WS set, but I find it doubtful - although it's probably still possible. And if we do end up getting a total of 9/10 Marvel sets for 2014 then that means another 5/6 DC sets would be plausible. We still need the rest of the major Justice League characters and DC has some major villains to use such as Darkseid, Branic, and Ra's Al Gaul, then a bunch of other villains such as Solomon Grundy, Sinestro, Cronos, Deathstroke, Toy Man, a new Scarecrow, Bizzaro (Yes, I know he was a SDCC exclusive), ect. Enough Batman, bring in diversity! And make my wallet cry… I really only go for Marvel sets based off of MCU, and X-Men, so I could skip all but the Cap set in the next Marvel wave, since I need Red Skull, from this wave in anticipation of better future Superheros waves. The_Creator Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 We need more than one X-men set. I agree - but I wouldn't be surprised if only one was made. Akin to the first Marvel wave. Quote
GuntherThePenguin Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I know I'm a bit late to this discussion but somebody brought up the point about the lacking female figs in the Marvel line and I realized: holy crap! You're right! The only female superhero/villain we have is Black Widow (and its not a very good representation of her in the first place.) I personally really hope to see some more figs in these rumored X-Men sets; X-Men do have some of the best female characters in the comics. I would also love a Ms. Marvel seeing as how big a deal she is with the Avengers. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 The funny thing is, even with all of the characters still needed, DC still puts in different versions of the same. We will have two penguin and two riddler figures if that says anything. I understand the need for the main protagonist, but so many extras in the same costume does get old. I personally want more Batman villains AND more other DC characters and their villains. We will see how long it takes for that to happen. Quote
