Lego Spy Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Sorry, but is that a curved cheese slope in the Trike set? -Sci I'm not sure. When you zoom in, it looks like the piece extends into the vehicle. Quote
BrickG Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I guess I'll bricklink about 1/4th of those minifigures. It's really not a good wave IMO. Zero things I actually want to build (but to be fair I've gone super picky with bad models real recently :P). Too much Spiderman. Too many 3rd tier characters which are nice in a way but there are soooo many better choices for minifigures. Idunno maybe these are higher tiered characters these days. I want my 90s Marvel characters :P. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 So I'm the only one not liking Electro's expression? Okay. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Great find, just2good Great minifigs all around (especially MODOK, Falcon, Red Skull, Green Goblin, MJ and Electro) and nicely designed sets The only thing I don't quite get is the Helicopter, why would Spidey ever need such a thing?? Still have to get it mainly for the figs & the glider Quote
rakky Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Which ones are third tier characters? These are surely all 1st tier or second tier. Maybe Taskmaster might be considered thrid tier, but he has been featured quite a lot in comics for the past 13 years or so. Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 After being ushered over here by Freddy ^^^ I have decided to share my thoughts on these sets. Spider trike- wow. What an uninspiring vehicle! I am in the minority, but I love Electro, so will only get the set for him. Doc Ock bank Heist thing- it's ok. I probably won't buy it as it has boring figs save for Doc Ock, whom I'll be Ebay'ing. The truck looks...odd. Spider Copter- this thing is crazy. And I like it! Love all figs exept Spidey (sooooo common ) and it looks one of the only interesting builds in the line. Red Skull- hate the tank, love the figures. Noticing a pattern?! Hulk Lab Smash- *sigh* another Hulk lab? It looks boring, except for the figures . All in all, a very uninspiring wave. Also, you're probably gonna see me post here quite a bit as I love Superheroes. Not ones that had been done before. 1st Tier are things like Superman. Instantly identifiable even by non-fans much of the time. 2nd-3rd Tier are usually characters only comic book fans would know (second tier more identifiable). Characters like Luke Cage, Falcon, Taskmaster, Modok are absolutely not identifiable unless you're into the comics or the new cartoon. I'd argue their stories suck more too :P and that some of the first tier characters are made lesser by being unidentifiable to older fans (Green Goblin being freakin' huge, Electro looking completely different). Most of the others aren't really new characters. I'd like a Red Skull and Mary Jane (with it was Gwen). Edited December 14, 2013 by BrickG Quote
TheLegoDr Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I assume they make these to appeal to kids with some play features (vehicles, exploding walls, etc), but make awesomely detailed figures to appeal to the adults as well. I love building, but I don't build any of these sets. I just buy them for the figures and TLG understands this... Although I hate bricklinking/ebaying figures unless they are ridiculously cheap. Usually if you want multiple figures you can get the whole set for about the same price as all of the figures individually and I'd much rather get the pieces AND give my money to TLG instead of an aftermarket seller. I see your point about the Green Goblin and Electro being beyond recongition, which I really think is a shame. Although I really wouldn't classify Elektro as 1st or 2nd tier. Especially since Luke Cage is far more well known. The problem is that there are really only a handful of super recongisable characters anyhow and lots have already been done once, so they will have to do slightly less recognisable. Also most children who buy these sets will have either read the comics or watched the cartoons and therefore will know them. Lets face it the only adults who will buy them will be ones who know who they are as well. I won't even comment on the their stories suck part :) I love my classic Powerman and Ironfist and early Captain America too much for that. Also, MODOK is awesome! Quote
Brickity Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I love the electro minifig and also the vehicle from the doc-ock ambush! Quote
Kez Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Thanks again Just2good, these sets look ace, I certainly can't wait to pick these up, hopefully they wont be too badly priced, me thinks the prices are as follows: 76014-£12.99 76015-£20-£25 76016-£30 76017-£20 76018-£50 (My personal favourite has got to be the Dock Ock truck heist, a winner all round) Quote
rakky Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Agreed the Truck looks good and Doc Ock looks really nice too. I also like the minifigures from The Cap set and the amazing looking Taskmaster and Falcon. MODOK is the figure I'm most excited about getting though. The Green Goblin figure is my least favourite though. I think I will bricklink Mary Jane and Powerman from that set, but I will buy all the other sets. Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 (edited) Good to see that Electro definitely has transparent arms. Now I'll definitely get at least one copy of the set even though the four-wheeled trike is the worst concept and execution for a Spider-vehicle yet, or maybe tied with that polybag. Wait, it looks like there is a function that'll make Spidey catapult out of it onto the road or towards electrocution...yeah, this is the worst. Did it come from the same mind that brought us the Batwing with Joker chopping action? But still, Electro! I'm actually not so sure about that truck now. Out of box, something about it seems off. I think I'll skip this, but a review could sway my opinion. Ock looks great though. I still don't like much about the copter, either. It seems a little better in these bigger images, but not much. I'll see if I can find it on sale just for Power Man and MJ. I still detest that Goblin.... The Hydra tank looks a bit better now, but it is still pretty bad. Again, I might wait for a sale with this one, and even then I'd only get it for Cap. And then the AIM lab actually looks much more enticing now. I like all of the figs, even Thor, except for MODOK, but he's MODOK, so he wasn't going to look good anyway... It also seems like a decent parts pack on top of this, so I'll definitely get this one. Tom Jurassic Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Can anyone recomend a Good Hairpiece to be used with Power Man? Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Sets for two TV series from one brand that being Marvel.....bold for Lego to do. Is it just me or the AA sets are a little better than the Spiderman ones ? Reading wikipedia about Avengers Assemble, it revolves around the evil doings of Red Skull and with appearances anyway by Spiderman......cross-over or merging of series maybe and hence a merging of subthemes ? Quote
rakky Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 They are both part of the same universe and characters from both series make cameos, so really it's not that daring. No different to making Clone wars sets and star wars films sets and Old Republic sets. Quote
Faefrost Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 So my thoughts on these new sets. - What's with all of the Spider vehicles? Part of the charm of Spider-Man is he is clueless New Yorker that lacks even a drivers license. - Electro is a cool looking figure, that looks far more like Iceman then Electro? I understand it is the movie version. But still kinda unrecognizable. - is it just me, or does the Green Goblin look far more like the Abomination than like any interpretation of the GG ever presented? - Why would Spider-Man need or want a helicopter? He can't even drive a car? What next, the Daredevil Action Tank? - Mary Jane is great, one of the best figs of this wave. - best take on Doc Oc yet. But why does the bank truck seem to have 1 trans green window? - I like the Cap set. Wish it had a Winter Soldier. But everything it does have seems great. A decent comics take on Cap. A great Red Skull and a classic Hydra goon. - the Hulk lab escape has some of the best parts, and some strange inclusions and exclusions. MODOK, Taskmaster and Falcon. Absolute perfection. Fantastic figures, and they make perfect sense together. You can see this story. Hulk, ok he kinda can fit in there, and at least he has purple pants. Besides he is a sales leader. Then we come to Thor? Thor in an AIM/MODOK set? Really? They just don't go together. It's like having Thor fight Daredevil's Mafia thugs or Wolverines Ninja. It just doesn't work. On the level of scale and power it's having Thor punch out a big headed quadropalegic in a wheelchair. I'm thinking this scenario isn't much of a nail biter? And really Thor adds nothing to the set. They couldn't give us an AIM Beekeeper instead? Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Spider Trike vs. Electro: The vehicle isn't so bad, i actually like it, electro makes the set for me though. Doc Ock Truck Heist: The bank vehicle looks really good, the truck driver can be easily made, doc ock looks to be a great minifigure! Spider-Helicopter Rescue: The spidercopter looks like a great vehicle, the minifigures are the main reason for the set though, green goblin looks better and powerman is a great minifigure. Captain America vs. Hydra: Great minifigures, tank looks cool and i love the motorcyle captain has, judging by the box size, is it going to be $30? Hulk Lab Smash: Hulk looks great with purple pants, thor has his comic variant, falcon is a favorite, taskmaster has the same exact shield as Boromir, has anyone else noticed that? and modok looks excellent! Overall, the minifigures are the reason to get this wave. Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Anybody else think that electro with some slight MODing would make a good Iceman? Quote
Ojik Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Electro looks even better in HD, trike even worse. Judging on the piece count we finally know it may be really 10$ price range. Which would be good. Truck is truly great but I'm still not convinced by the minifigs. Spider-Copter doesn't look that bad after all and with 299 piece count the price may be 30$ (or 35$, it's still a licensed set), however I'm afarid 40$ is more likely. Still plausible, I was expecting 50$. Hydra tank is really awful but I love the figs. AIM lab looks significantly much better and so do the figs. If I can get this one for fair price, I won't regret buying it. Speaking of the price, it's the same situation as with the Spider-Copter. With a pinch of luck it could be 40$ but LEGO seems to be charging extra 10 bucks for big figs. Captain America vs. Hydra: Great minifigures, tank looks cool and i love the motorcyle captain has, judging by the box size, is it going to be $30? The picture is shrunken, it's the same size as other 20$ sets. In fact, it's a typical Super Heroes 20$ set: 3 figs, a vehicle and a bit of accessory. Quote

I read somewhere, I think it was on the Ultimate spiderman wikipedia page (the show) that Spiderman will be joing the Avengers Assemble roster in 2015? 2014? Forgot the year, I'll probably promise to link it, and then forget about it later. Also, I get the vibe that USM will end in 2014, and doubt we'll ever get White Tiger. Though she will be in one of the Netflex shows, so they could always do something for that. But she will be a tricky figure to make, she's sort of plain. Quote
just2good Posted December 14, 2013 Author Posted December 14, 2013 (edited) Thanks again Just2good, these sets look ace, I certainly can't wait to pick these up, hopefully they wont be too badly priced, me thinks the prices are as follows: Great find, just2good My pleasure! Captain America vs. Hydra: Great minifigures, tank looks cool and i love the motorcyle captain has, judging by the box size, is it going to be $30? It is a $30 box size (to name a few $30 sets that used it in 2013 are the Downtown Bakery, Warp Stinger, and the City Starter Set), but also more recently a $20 box size (Merida's Highland Games). Though, some of the Juniors sets, which are most likely going to be $30 in the US judging by the Canadian prices use it in 2014 (Police Escape and the Batcave). I just really feel that this will be $20- there's three minifigures and no really "big" pieces that would warrant a price spike. Here are the prices that I believe each set will get... 76014 Spider-Trike ~ $13 76015 Truck Heist ~$20 76016 Spider-Helicopter ~ $50 76017 HYDRA Tank ~ $20 76018 Hulk Lab ~ $40 Edited December 14, 2013 by just2good Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 just2good, I would switch the Hulk lab and Spidercopter prices, Hulk is a bigfig plus MODOK uses a very large new mold, those two could warrant large prices on these sets, plus the build seems to be remarkably larger, and the spidercopter is a helicopter, which almost always sell for around $20-30 dollars (if they are the main build), but with Green Goblin, I'm sure it'll jump to $40. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I think the spidercopter will be $40 and the hulk lab will be $50. Quote
