TheLegoDr Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I'm just now watching Man of Steel and TLG really got the armor down. I think Faora's hair was pretty spot on for already having that hair piece . I would have loved one of those flying creatures Jor-el rides early on. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I must be the only one that likes Thor. The variation is at least didn't than before. I hate having so many multiples of useless figures. I also really like thor too! Quote
Suspsy Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I'm quite happy with a variation of Thor. My only wish is that he had bare arms and a helmet. Quote
Ikkad555 Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I'm really loving how LEGO isn't holding back with the specialized minifigures! The Hulk was one thing, but slowly but surely turning the bigfigure into its own size class for Marvel Superheroes is just great. At first I had thought that Hulk would be the only one, but seeing the Game and now Green Goblin, I'm glad they went this route. Admittedly, I also had hoped that the bigfigs had removable heads and hairpieces (the stud on top would have been a Duplo stud - imagine the realm of possibilities that would have opened up!), but we didn't get that and I guess I have to live with it. The loosening of restraint in figure design also brought us MODOK, whom I had not even expected to come as a minifig! Loving his huge noggin. Honestly, I can't wait for the next bigfig/unusual fig releases in this line, and gosh I really hope the Superheroes lines turn out to live as long as the Star Wars line. Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) What did they do to you Thor? That face just looks really quite scary. Edited December 15, 2013 by Sir Brickalot Quote
rakky Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) I really like the torso, maybe even better than the Avengers version. The lack of a beard almost doesn't look right though. I will say it's well designed even if it's not my personal preference. I am disappointed that they didn't take this opportunity to use/sculpt a different hairpiece. The current one just doesn't fit that well. I really like this new Thor, he looks much similar to the comic book version. Thor started off being clean shaven and was only irregularly shown sporting a beard. I don't care about the hair, but I wish they had given us his helmet. Edited December 15, 2013 by rakky Quote
Only Sinner Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 taskmaster has the same exact shield as Boromir, has anyone else noticed that? and modok looks excellent!Overall, the minifigures are the reason to get this wave. The minifigs are definately the reason to get this wave. The shield is not however the Boromir / Captain America shield. It would have been perfect if it was, but they gave hime the stupid one with the center stud. Quote
MakutaNocturn Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Finally a white hood for a Lego Assassin's Creed minifigure! Quote
Suspsy Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Another thing I like about the Hulk Lab Smash set is that my villains will finally have a place to hang out just like the heroes on the Helicarrier. I wish TLG would do another set with Dr. Doom in it. Perhaps it could be the Avengers attacking his castle. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 ^Only Sinner - it is Boromir's shield. Eomer had the rounded shield like Captain America. Quote
Im a brickmaster. Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Ok, this is my problem with the AIM lab set. Nobody can pick Thor's hammer or use put it in a big laser thingy! Argggghhhhh! This is seriously bothering me! Why couldn't he just call the hammer to him and shatter the prison?!?! Quote
rakky Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) Ok, this is my problem with the AIM lab set. Nobody can pick Thor's hammer or use put it in a big laser thingy! Argggghhhhh! This is seriously bothering me! Why couldn't he just call the hammer to him and shatter the prison?!?! He can't just call his hammer back, it's only when he throws it that it comes back. So many times in the comics he was separated from it and had to transform back into Dinald Blake because he could not get it. If he could call it back he would have been fine. There has also been lots of people who the hammer has deemed worthy before, along with magic enchantments and other macguffins that have taken it away from him in the past. Thor has also lost his powers in the past and had them diminished, usually when Odin was being a git. Edited December 15, 2013 by rakky Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Like Beta Ray Bill, right? ^^^ This AIM lab looks better with these pictures, but if you look at it for a long time, it looks bare and plain, they could've done better. Quote

I just hope they don't stay Marvel exclusive, as DC's got plenty of characters that could use that treatment. Doomsday, Bane, Killer Croc, Solomon Grundy, Atom Smasher, and Darkseid just to name a few. Heck, Grundy could be made with a simple repaint of Hulk if necessary. Quote
Legoman123 Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) I really don't like the Spider-Helicopter Rescue. I think the overall design of it is very poor, and non of the minifigures appeal to me. Edit: The Green Goblin looks like he belongs in Ben 10. Edited December 15, 2013 by Legoman123 Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Not to start a riot or whatnot, but Im a brickmaster is right, and rakky to a degree. It has been said that Thor's Hammer returns to him, when he whispers Mjolnir's "secret" name, as an alternative reality Rick Jones once put it. However, as rakky says, there are many times when he has been separated from the Hammer, and has not used it to escape. But then again, that's comics for you. I was going to post about this, and I know this sounds so pathetic perhaps to some, but that is just plain stupid to have the Hammer being held in that contraption. A very few select individuals can lift the Hammer (Cap, Storm, Beta Ray Bill, Odin, and Wonder Woman come to mind), and the enchantment can be lifted, but only by Odin. How the hell can MODOK or Taskmaster lift it? It annoys me, they don't manage to screw up continuity wise on the Star Wars sets, or the LOTR sets for the most part, why mess up Marvel? Quote

korpen4444 Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Wonder woman is DC. There was a cross over series. Marvel is Earth 616 in the DC Universe. Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Avengers VS JLA, George Perez artwork, a great series if anybody's interested, much, much better than the earlier Marvel VS DC stuff. Superman lifted the hammer too, however, that was while Odin had lifted the enchantment of the hammer. It's confirmed (kind of) that they are two separate reality's during this. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Maybe they forced Thor to put his hammer in that thing and then locked him up? Honestly, of all the gripes anybody could have with a set, this one about the hammer seems rather nuanced and silly! Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 As I said, pretty pathetic, but, how would the Star Wars fans feel if their was a huge error in a Star Wars set? Like Mace with a pink lightsaber? It's hard to explain, particularly as I'm a bias Marvel geek and its hard to compare to anything else, but it's an integral part of the character. I know, its just a toy, but we've got to talk about something, haven't we? Quote
Clone OPatra Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 We'll just have to wait and see what LEGO's description of the set is to judge if they really got it wrong. I think the more egregious error is how horribly inaccurate Taskmaster's shield is, which is a problem that can't just be ignored like the (potentially) ludicrous setup with Thor's hammer. Quote
just2good Posted December 15, 2013 Author Posted December 15, 2013 We'll just have to wait and see what LEGO's description of the set is to judge if they really got it wrong. I think the more egregious error is how horribly inaccurate Taskmaster's shield is, which is a problem that can't just be ignored like the (potentially) ludicrous setup with Thor's hammer. There's this description on Walmart Canada, which doesn't give much away... Deep in the underground lab of the A.I.M. organization, Thor is being held captive by Taskmaster and the evil MODOK. Help Falcon break in and overpower the super villains, while Hulk smashes through the lab wall and goes on the rampage! Can he destroy the hammer-powered laser cannon and smash the shields to release Thor from his shielded cell? Only you can decide. Includes 4 minifigures with assorted weapons: Thor, Falcon, MODOK and Taskmaster plus Hulk figure. Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I do agree with you there, Clone O'Patra. They can give Cap's shield mold to LOTR and the CMF's, but not Taskmaster, a fig who genuinely needs the mold, as it's meant to emulate the original? I don't want to sound like a nerdy fanboy over Thor, but its stuff like that does annoy me, it's just such a simple thing, sure I can fix it but still, it gets under my skin. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 We believe theoretically that people at Marvel have to OK the sets, so maybe they OK'd the Thor thing for some reason? But at the same time, the department that handles the licensed toys might not care that much. The description just2good kindly posted does just say exactly what the picture shows - hammer-powered laser cannon. LEGO actually does get stuff wrong in Star Wars too, like putting cockpits in ships that are actually droids in and of themselves. They've been doing that since 2005 and are still doing it in the new 2014 wave. So inconsistencies and silly additions do happen. Quote
