Numbuh1Nerd Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I know everyone was complaining about getting a second Batmobile, albeit with a new design, but I have an idea that might change your minds about the inevitable repeat Batmobiles: Well, obviously they'll keep making variants on the Batmobiles, but what if each one was based exclusively on an official design? One wave gets a 60's Batmobile, the next has Frank Miller's massive tank-like Batmobile, a third gets the Batmobile from Batman Beyond, and so on. That way the kiddies get their obligatory vehicle, and the DC fans and AFOLs get something to geek over. Everyone wins! Quote
Blast Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Everything looks pretty nice I'm mainly interested in the Captain America set, Spider-man vs Electron and the Batman Juniors set. Shame that the chances for X-men sets are highly unlikely would have loved to have a Lego Nightcrawler. Quote
Faefrost Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I don't care for the Spider-Man vehicles either, but I understand their purpose. Lego needs to keep their primary target(children) in mind when designing sets and a funky helicopter in primary colours is going to go over better than say, a rooftop setting or Peter Parker's dingy apartment. As others have noted, there are many existing Marvel vehicles that would make good sets: the Fantasti-Car, the X-Jet, various SHIELD and HYDRA craft, etc. I'm surprised there hasn't been a Sentinel or a Spider Slayer set yet. Ugh! so true on the Spidey vehicles. Heck we have been seeing horrid Spiderman cars and vehicles going back to the 70's. Does anyone else remember any of Mego's fine offerings? http://www.megomuseum.com/wgsh/playsets/spidercar.html Or how about these fine offerings from Corgi? http://www.plaidstallions.com/corgi/corgi1.html So there has been some sort of draw with kids for Spider Vehicles for almost 50 years now... I just wish I could reconcile that fact with the one that throughout his comics history Spider-man has never even had a drivers license. A truly classic Marvel story involved the Human Torch attempting to teach him to drive, and failing miserably. Sigh! I must be getting old and crotchety. These damn kids and their newfangled driving Spidermen. BAH! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Maybe Batman has spares in his batcave. If one breaks down or blows up, he probably has an extra one. Can't be too prepared for a billionaire. I don't mind getting another batmobile. I'm not huge on the orange (supposed to represent gold?) windscreen on the new one, but I don't mind the design of the vehicle itself. I wonder if other color windscreens are available that would fit in that same shape? Quote

Shame that the chances for X-men sets are highly unlikely would have loved to have a Lego Nightcrawler. Well AllAboutBricks has rumored that Lego will release at least 1 X-Men set in 2014, same goes for Guardians Of the Galaxy. But let's say it's not a rumor and we will most definitely get a(n) X-men set(s) next year, a Lego Nightcrawler would be highly unlikely for the following reasons: 1. He'd require a new mold, and Lego's new mold budget for all or most themes next year seems to be through the roof. 2. He wasn't in the video game. Now sure we've gotten plenty of variants of characters, vehicles, and even brand new characters in sets before that haven't appeared in their respective sets, but trust me, if Lego were planning on making a Nightcrawler (who isn't even in Days o Future past), he'd appear in the game. 3. Lego is exceeding the amount of sets they can make for the Marvel sub theme. Even if we only get 1 X-Men set and 1 GotG set, Lego would still be making 8 sets. Of course 1's a junior, and Lego skipped one this year, but still, if Lego were to make 1 X-Men set, I'm sure they'd prioritize. Nightcrawler will not be made over Jean Grey, Storm, Professor X, or Cyclops. 4. He's not in Days of future past. These set's are meant to coincide with Days of future past. And while they still aren't going to be based on DofP, the character line-up n the movie will heavily affect the sets. This is so kids who aren't comic fans, but saw the movies, will be sure to know who's who. Quote

Im just going to use the standard Trans-Black windshield but i havnt seen any Trans-Yellow yet, would've been cool to get a first in the set. And yes Batman does keep spare Batmobiles in the cave http://www.comicsrec...5-batmobile.jpg Lots and lots of spares Quote

However I do believe they want to have a Batmobile in commission each year so that every wave of new kids, and every generation can own a Batmobile. This was also made evident when Lego made a Batmobile in 2006 for the Batman line, and a UCS Batmobile to keep it around longer. Only now, they're skipping years to produce the Batmobile, I assume it's to leave available more space for sets, plus who wants 2 Batmobiles Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Here is some evidence that Taskmaster has Boromir's shield, you can tell by the triangles around the shield: Quote

I'm pretty sure Nightcrawler is supposed to be DLC for the game, and he wouldn't necessarily need a new mold. They could probably get away with using the Werewolf CMF hair, or maybe even the spiky hair they gave Nightwing. Of course, preferably, it would have the spiky hair but with ears like the in-game model of Nightmare. The tail could just be printed on the back of the figure. Even if they did make new molds, they'd definitley be able to use them in other themes, like LOTR or other Superheroes sets. The only fault I see in Nightcrawler showing up in the X-Men set is a lack of mainstream popularity. Although I'm sure this won't be our only X-Men set, and he will show up eventually. Quote

Eventually, that's possible. But in a wave where Lego needs to release long-awaited popular characters, and not go overboard with their sets, I'll have to say no. Quote
just2good Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) 'Vader' on Brick Horizon has posted a review of the Juniors Spidey set and the Batman: Penguin Face-off set. Scuba Batman has a new face on both sides! That's great! Edited December 18, 2013 by just2good Quote
TheBatstan Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) 0_0 Holy crap! Spidey has different hips! Ironic, out of all the 2014 sets, the smallest set that's technically not part of this line has a variation, and that Penguin Face-Off set is definetly a must get for me now! Clone OPatra Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Scuba Batman has a new face on both sides! That's great! Where do you see that? It looks to me like the normal stern face just printed on black. I wouldn't call that 'new.' Quote
Sam892 Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Finally some reviews from professionals instead of awful Brickshow crap. Both sets look great ( Batman more ), but I don't like the red hip Spidey. If there wasn't the blue strip between the red, I'm sure he'd be fine but personally he looks stupid. Quote

I'd call the normal face on black new. But, did you notice the back face with the scuba mask? Don't worry, I missed it at first too. Edited December 18, 2013 by just2good Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Yay a double sided face, in my favorite set too. Quote

Since it results in the exact same expression we already had (with just a little bit of extra black around the mouth), to me there isn't enough difference and I'd call that a missed opportunity. They could've actually given us a different mouth pattern, like a closed-mouth smirk or something like that, but instead it's just the same thing. Sure, this face will be different when used without the mask, but with it we still only have two Bats expressions. The scuba mask is cool, but it doesn't count as a new expression for Bats either. Colossus Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I thought I was done with the Batman sets. I mean, I think I've found more Batman minifigs lost in my couch than I've found loose change. But this scuba gear Bats looks reeeeaaaaly cool. I also like the look of that new Batmobile. I can't quit you, LEGO Batman. Curses! Quote
Suspsy Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I think Storm is much more deserving of a minifigure than Nightcrawler. Quote
DJ Bricks Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I think Storm is much more deserving of a minifigure than Nightcrawler. I think we need Prof X, Jean, Cyclops, Beast, Iceman, Angel, Storm, rogue, and colossus. We need any bad guys Quote
gedren_y Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 This Batman may make a good sci-fi character with a shoulder armor to hide that bat symbol and maybe a Pharaohs Quest 'horus' headdress. I also love that Penguin torso. Gotta get that set. Quote
KingPixels Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) Uh, has no one else noticed that we got a Venom variant!? His mouth curves up higher and his gums are silver. I think the reason we aren't getting a Spider-Man variant is that kids would want to get the original Spidey-suit figure, and so if they could only buy one they wouldn't buy a suit with a variant. Blast Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I would just rather see Nightcrawler and Shadowcat over Beast, Storm and Professor X, they're much more in line with Lego humour. Is there any possibility of a Fantastic Four set down the line maybe to coincide with the 2015 film? Quote
