I bought Penguin's set and I really like it, it's small but very nice built! If noone will make review, I will.

I used to be a completist...but not anymore. There is no way I am buying the Man-Bat set when both my custom Nightwing and Man-Bat are world's better than the official minifigs. I'll skip the Riddler Chase set too, as the Flash is the only reason I can think of to buy the set. I'd rather spend $50 on a Christo or some other customizer than buy that set. This way, I'll get leg printing on Flash too!

You haven't posted photos of your customs, so I can't tell whether yours are better or not. Either way, Lego can't be faulted for making mini figures other fans might very well enjoy. And while leg printing on Flash would be nice, it's not like that's a standard feature on mini figures.

The Spidey sets are even worse. Everyone of those Spidey vehicles is a bad joke and we all know it. Any other view is just being apologetic. That kids might like them is no excuse--kids would like better vehicles and/or bases too.

This is where you cross the line. Personally disliking the sets is fine. I personally think the Spidercopter is ridiculous too. But you have no business speaking for everyone else. Some folk here might very well be looking forward to them, either as is or for the parts. A little imagination could spawn countless awesome vehicles from the Spidercopter.

And you definitely don't speak for kids. Anyone who's paid attention to Spider-Man toys over the decades knows that vehicles have always been a major part of any line.

I'm just not keen to throw my money at LEGO for bad sets anymore. I wouldn't have like these as a kid (lots of kids have good taste, if we just listen to them)

Who says Lego doesn't?

LEGO needs to figure out what they want to do with these lines. They need to figure out that these lines don't want the same treatment as other lines. Super heros are about characters...lots and lots of characters. No one wants the same five characters, redone to point of nausea.

Actually, they generally do. That's why Iron Man toy lines have so many Starks. That's why Avengers toy lines have so many Hulks. That's why Transformers toy lines have so many Optimus Primes and Bumblebees. If anything, I think Lego has done a very good job of balancing popular heroes with lesser known ones. As a Marvel fan, I'd buy the hell out of a set containing She-Hulk, Mockingbird, Ms Marvel, Deathstrike, and Madam Viper, but my personal preferences certainly do not speak for the masses. Neither do yours.

Nice find! They say its another Batmobile but it looks more like a new Bat Tank, which is what I'm definetly using it for and it also looks like Frank Millers Batmobile Tank from the Dark Knight Retuens :). I can kind of see the minifigs: Batman (of course) Emmet, Wyldstyle and some sort of green-ish fig I can't really see

That's not Batman's vehicle, that's just the villain's vehicle- a police dropship. And, Johnny Thunder is in the set, not Wyldstyle.

Aww. That giant Batmobile from the trailer looked beast but hey, we're getting Johnny Thunder! I was really young when those sets came out so at least there's something to look foreword too. If they aren't doing the Batmo-Tank then they could do the Batwing with Batman, Emmet Wyldstyle and Vitruvius

Ive finally finished the riddler chase and I must say its failed to disappoint me, the batmobile imo has got to be one of the, if not the best batmobile lego has ever made. The riddlers vehicle is also characteresque to his appearance, as is the jokers steam roller. The figures are also great and its nice to see new variations of batman and riddler. My verdict is pick it up, well worth the £30 :classic:

I hope the figure is Green Lantern, though I shouldn't get my hopes up.

It's probably the Green Ninjago guy

Yeah it looks like Lloyd. I think tjat whole Lantern thing was made up. Closest Latern we might get is a comic, or a Denzel Washington version :)

ah too bad. But that dropship destroys the Batmobile and Invisible jet in the trailer though. ;)

I actually have a leaked picture of the Invisible jet set right here:

Seriously though, I really like the look of the new Batman sets. I'm also glad we're getting Batgirl, Damien Wayne, Flash, Manbat and a Nightwing redesign in this wave!

Where did you get that picture? I hadn't seen that one before.

Well the rumor wasn't specifically that it would be in a lego movie set, that was just speculation. The rumor was just that we would be getting green lantern this year. It could always be in another DC wave.

I really. really hoped that the LEGO Movie Batmobile was going to make it into a set. It looked so much cooler than any of the other Batmobiles we've seen, and it's definitely a nod to the Frank Miller version. I considered making an MOC inspired by that Batmobile based on this set, although with the mech suit in the back replaced by a ceiling. I doubt I'll ever do it, though. I'm almost certain that we won't be seeing any of the licensed characters in the Movie sets, since we've seen the first wave (because honestly, this thing'll get at least two waves) and it's all characters debuting in the movie.

Uh but if you look in the pic you can definitely see Batman in a set along with the other movie charaters

Love it, tongue meets cheek.

I literally sat at my computer for 5 minutes waiting for the "picture" to load. -_-

Oh my this looks awesome, finally Lego have got a set spot on, hopefully it wont cost too much but ooh them translucent parts

(Hopefully my post wont get edited for quoting a picture )

Now sorta back on topic hopefully there is a lego movie set that we have yet to see (maybe one from that picture released earlier), it'd be good if it had another batman in or maybe a grea. Lantern, after all brick fanatics did report earlier in the year that we should be expecting a set with green lantern included. :classic:

Hey, you think a character like that who receives THAT much of promotion doesn't get to be in a set?

I figured that since he's in so many DC sets it would be redundant to put him in that line too, as well as bad for business, because "Why buy the DC sets for Batman if I can get him in this Movie set?"

Bought all 4 sets yesterday and have now built them all. Thought I would post a few thoughts- its funny how building the sets has radically changed my opinion on them. I should say I'm a huge batman fan, and of the new 52 in particular, I prefer location based sets to vehicles too.

1. The Penguin Face Off: this is a set of 2 halves- the Batman side is uninspired, dull to build and action-figure toyish; while the penguin side is characterful if rather too small. The penguin print is very nice, and coupled with the duck (which needs to be moc'd larger) and the nice (if tiny) studless ice feature I would recommend this set.

2. The man-bat attack: the batcopter is ok if not very exciting, Nightwings glider really bugs me (it feels oriented wrong) which leaves the minifigures as a saving grace. I've got a purist custom manbat but this print is a lot better when i put them side by side. I love the red nightwing, far better than the custom I own and a nicer print than the old blue although I'm iffy on the hair. Not sure anyone needs another 90s Batman though. If I wasn't a completionist I wouldn't buy this but I would pick up Manbat and Nightwing, which may or may not be cheaper than getting the whole set as a bonus.

3. The Riddler Chase: The best set of the wave and pretty much essential- the dragster has more bulk to it than I thought from the photos and the Batmobile is an absolute beast- fun to build with a predatory silhouette, its accurate to the show but fits in with a more mature batman look as well. I have a Christo Flash, and I'm afraid to say the TLG version is nowhere near as good, but he's still a solid figure; the Riddler looks far better without muscle detailing and the zany costume captures the character, while the Batman print is great, with the added bonus that a leg swap to plain grey and black hands make a convincing New 52 Batman (for which I will need to buy another). I was underwhelmed by this in photos but in real life its a great set.

4.The Joker Steamroller: I love the steamroller- its crazy, colourful, slightly disturbing and sizable enough to convey a sense of threat (unlike, say the funhouse which is just too thin and flimsy). The new Joker print is great fun (love the fedora) and the joker goon is a solid addition. The other figures (that recurring Batman aside) are gorgeous- my only slight complaint on either is the way Bab's hair creases her cape- but either way she is essential buying. I know Damian polarises opinion but the new less muscled Robin print works a treat for me- I already had a purist custom with the diddy legs but I still love the effect. Finally, the plane. Yes the play feature is stupid and the mechanism slightly hurts the silhouette but I think it compares favourably to the 2012 Batwing which was flat and tedious to build as a result. The batplane has more height to it and makes greater use of interesting building techniques and I suspect a MOC'd front end would improve it further. I can't rate this as highly as the Riddler Chase but only because everything in that set is both fun to build and a new print/character- this set is let down by an out of place

batman print and a silly play feature.

Overall this wave is far more solid and enjoyable than I had thought. Most of the minifigures, Batman excluded, are either brand new or great new designs and most of the builds are strong, with the scuba kit and glider the only real stinkers and the batcopter and plane being ok but missable- the rest is delightful.

The wave does long for a proper location- replacing the batcopter/glider or batplane with a small building would set this wave off perfectly. So, my next task is to build a MOC to house it all- I've got a crazy idea for a section of abandoned and condemned zoo with a road running past and a sewer underneath connecting to a ruined penguin enclosure...
