Dr Leg O Brick Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Guardian's seems to be a prelude to Avengers Three, as Two involves Ultron, not Thanos. It appears Ronan and Nebula are in cahoots with Thanos (obviously Nebula, if you read comics). Based on this, I'm hoping for minifigures of Nebula, Thanos (If he is in the film), Yondu, Ronan, and Gamora, mainly to make classic versions. X-Men, I'll take anything. Don't care about the price, I'll buy them. Maybe a small Danger Room assault course with Wolverine and Ol Charlie, Professor X? Quote

It would take about 4 sets to have the main cast and about 2 repeating villains alone, and that's only if Yondu stays out of the cast (but he more than likely will be part of the guardians, it was said he'll have a "large" role). So should we expect 3-4 sets? Quote
LMB10 Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 I'd imagine there'll be three Guardians sets... Maybe four. Quote
Kaijumeister Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 (edited) Fantastic news that the GoTG and X-Men sets are confirmed! The X-Men set teased is clearly in its preliminary stages, the way Storm's legs are rendered for example, indicate an unfinished design. The set itself is most definitely the Blackbird, given that it's flying and has flick fires. I'm very anxious to see how many sets we'll be getting exactly, three to four for Guardians as suggested by LMB10 would make sense, to capitalise on the movie release and due to the fact that these sets will be direct merchandise of the film, I'm assuming we'll get new moulds for Groot and Rocket (and possibly Star Lord's mask? His guns will most probably be the AQ blasters). On the other hand, the X-Men ones sets only capitalising on the DoFP film simply by the fact that they're X-Men sets, which makes me think there'll be two to three of them (if there's one page dedicated to them on the catalogue). Lego's honestly overusing that female hair mould though, I hope it's only a stand-in for Storm's finalised hair! Edited January 3, 2014 by Kaijumeister Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 I would imagine (based on the Lego Marvel game, and by images of the Guardians standing together) that Rocket Raccoon would use the fox mold from Chima. Quote
Borex Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 I'll keep my fingers crossed that these sets all gonna be lovely. No bigfig greengoblins and usm electro changes please, just give us the comic-characters! That being said, isn't there a set name list already? And that prelim pic, why just a fraction of that page? You tease! Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 They haven't done that, no. But there's nothing stopping them from doing it is my point. They can choose to do it any time. I am not counting on any Nolanman sets at all. Maybe in 20 years in some super special retro edition but even that would honestly surprise me. Looking at all the tie-in film/show stuff and New52 pushing we will probably never get a chance on older versions of costumes except for X-Men because they don´t have the Fox license and even then LEGO could buy the license with no problems or the rights will revert back to Marvel. Of course they could choose any time. But they won´t. Just like how they could have chosen to do a Zombie Pub set based on a 10 year old movie. They could have done that but they chose not to and they could still choose to do it but they won´t. Because they don´t want to because of some stupid reason like it wouldn´t sell enough or nobody cares when there are enough collectors that buy every set to at least buy up the initial production run and people obviously care about the best DC movie in nearly two decades. gedren_y Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Now that I've seen the movie Yondu, I'm a little disappointed. I have issues 17 and 18 of the original GotG. I really was hoping for the large bright red fin, as well as the golden blade weapon hand. Hopefully the original look will be in the tv show, though I likely won't actually get it with my local cable provider. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 I'd take sets from a Guardians T.V show over Avengers Assemble any day, and that''s probably part of me finding the Avengers (in most media) annoying. Quote

I'd take a Guardians TV show over Avengers Assemble in general any day. That actually sounds pretty cool, while Avengers Assemble is a blatant attempt at cashing in on the success of the movies while sacrificing quality. I hope they go the more comic-accurate route, though. That way we might get minifigs of both the movie and comic book counterparts. Quote
Green Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 So where were the X-Men and Guardian sets confirmed? Is there a Toy Fair on? Quote
just2good Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 So where were the X-Men and Guardian sets confirmed? Is there a Toy Fair on? In the most recent retail catalog. Quote

SoupOrFishOil Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Why do people that take pictures of these retail catalogs always take the worst pictures? A lot of times they have to do it quickly and probably secretly with cellphones. These are smaller than what we are used to, but I'm glad that we're getting anything this early. Quote
TheBatstan Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Man-bat Attack and Riddler Chase are now available at the US S@H site http://shop.lego.com/en-US/DC-Universe-Super-Heroes-ByTheme?_requestid=876367 Quote

HawkLord Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Even if that was the finalized version of Storm, I'd be pretty happy. I'm hoping the set is comparable in size and cost to the Quinjet Aerial Battle set, with maybe three other X-Men (in addition to Storm) and Magneto. Quote
Legoman123 Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 If we are getting the Blackbird, how much interior space do you guys think it will have? Quote
rosalind14 Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 It's gotta have at least 6 seats, hopefully 8...with all the minifigs to go in them. Quote
jonwil Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Of all the x-men characters, the one I am most hoping for is a Professor X (with wheelchair). Quote
Darth Punk Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Why do people that take pictures of these retail catalogs always take the worst pictures? It's a controlled leak. A little teaser to get everyone excited without revealing too much. The photo is framed way too perfectly to have been a quick photo and if you were Going to take a quick shot wouldn't you try to get the whole page. Quote

Agreed, I collected the Originals from 1 to 53, then lost interest in comics as a whole. I'd prefer Martinex, Vance, and a classic Yondu any day, however, if we just get the blue head, at least we might be able to customize a decent one. As for how many character's we'll get, or sets, I'd hope Lego will give us all the major players, as I can only think of a few finished Licences that haven't gave us all of the main characters in one shape or another. Meaning Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot, Rocket Racoon, Ronan The Accuser, Yondu, Nebula, Korath, The Collector, and the Nova Corps. Quote
