Which would add more to (was it Oky's, Aanchir's, somebody's) point that these sets are supposed to be using characters and the like from DoFP without completely basing the designs or the figures off of the movie.

I am pretty damn sure that had DoFP not be scheduled to come out this summer, we'd either see no X-Men sets, or just the Black Bird without any sign of a sentinel. But maybe kids buy comics and watch T.V shows from the 90's to stay updated on a set of that kind? If I didn't know any better, not very many kids nowadays actually buy comics, their knowledge sprouts from T.V shows and movies (though that's most, not all).

There's no doubt about that! I was just saying that if they base them off of the comics, Storm may have her tiara seeing as wolverine has his cowl.

Exactly. Sentinels are supposed to be towering Robots, that smash through roofs to grab one x-man, while fighting another.

To be fair, the size of the Sentinels has varied over the years, and not just in terms of artistic interpretation, from not taller, but not by much, than an average human to several stories high. If you figure that Wolverine minifigure is of "average height" for a minifigure, that Sentinel looks like it's probably 4 or 5 times that height, so I think it's probably reasonably close the "common" Sentinel height.

Exactly, but I guess this new hairpiece can also be useful, I was recently trying to create an army of old women to fight my Batmen...

I'm sure they wouldn't base a set off of Brave and the Bold, but they should be using it's basic set-up of Batman + A-C List Hero + A-C List Villain. There isn't a Justice League cartoon on, heck, Cartoon Network can't even commit to a Batman cartoon! Beware the Batman has been put on hiatus after one (maybe only half of one) season, and will likely go the way of Young Justice and get cancelled before they get the chance to develop a real fanbase. It's really a shame that they keep cancelling all of these very good cartoons but are putting the awful Teen Titans Go on a pedestal (and we can't even get a Teen Titans set based on it!) They should've kept Green Lantern TAS and Beware the Batman and built up a new Animated Universe that could feed into an eventual Justice League. But no, if it doesn't captivate the hearts of 8-11 year olds in two episodes it has to go. At least keep Beware on long enough for us to get sets based directly on it so we get characters like Metamorpho or Katana.

It seems pretty expected that they would do that, since the first set should be going out of print soon (I think?). I'd rather we got the same Magneto than that 70's nightmare. The Sentinel is really disappointing, since it could've made a perfect set on its own. I'm hoping this means we're getting more than just Wolverine, Storm, and Disco Magneto. At least toss in Cyclops!

Yeah, come to think of it DC (and the companies they work with like CN) just really mismanage their whole multimedia empire compared to Marvel. DC should be pushing their cartoons a lot harder in general, and not just Teen Titans Go!, because that's not really any different (or any better) than CN's other nonsense like Uncle Grandpa. It is surprising we can't even get a Teen Titans set, I wouldn't mind something like that (imagine just a mid-expensive set with Robin, Cyborg, one or both of the girls, and Slade. Would be pretty sweet). I don't expect we'll see any C-list DC characters for a while but it's ridiculous we can't even really get B-list. Or non-Batman A-list. I agree with you on the X-men stuff though, aside from being glad we're at least getting a variant on Magneto (don't need two of the old one). I'm really hoping since it's a $50 set we're looking at two minifigs besides the confirmed Wolverine/Magneto/Storm.

I'm not saying they did that to cash in on the Killing Joke, but it seems to be a reference for the older fans. I'm expecting us to get Cyborg before we get Martian Manhunter, although Green Lantern has got to be coming in the near future. It's pretty apparent at this point that they're trying to make it as "New 52" as possible, and that means our JL line-up is likely to be Supes, Batsy, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. I know we'll get Martian Manhunter one of these days though.

I think Shadowcat and Nightcrawler won't be coming for quite a while, since neither of them even appeared in the game (and when you have over 150 characters, there's good reason you left out 2 very important X-Men and included Howard the Duck) but I think we may wind up with Psylocke. I think we'll probably just be getting Cyclops, Wolverine, Rogue, Storm, Beast, Gambit, Iceman, Jean Grey, and Professor X for a while, though I hope Archangel, Colossus, and Nightcrawler come soon after.

maybe if the x-men movies would actually focus on characters besides Wolverine we'd get to see those characters in other things. Shadowcat got screwed on Days of Future Past and she owns a frickin' dragon where's her movie????

I'd be totally fine with Cyborg instead of Martian Manhunter, personally. We just -really- have to get a Green Lantern soon, it's ridiculous we haven't yet, but with Flash and Aquaman making cameos I can't imagine we won't have him in the next wave or two. Also, I'd be pumped if we could "just" get Cyclops, Rogue, Beast, Gambit, Iceman, Jean Grey.... Even those seem optimistic at this point.

Thinking about it now, I think it's very unlikely they we will get a Storm tiara. The show the new Wolverine mould in the prelim, why wouldn't they also have the new tiara shown too? On the previous Marvel prelims we saw new molds (for some things, but not major ones like Green Goblin),mand those were less developed photos. Unfortunately this means we get another wavy woman hair, which is becoming greatly overused in the superheroes line.

Also, her hair comes in white, which was never used in that color, doesn't Lego also avoid using new colors in catalogues on pre-existing pieces? If that is the case, then we will definitely be seeing another Black Widow hair piece.

Plot twist: This is all leading up to Lego's new DC/Marvel crossover where all the females find out their related!

If Lego doesn't give it to us I'm going to be SO MAD! I mean really? We get a SECOND wolverine with a molded cowl but we can't get storm for the first time with her tiara? I'll email lego and complain. I'd honestly rather not have storm if she doesn't have her headpiece. I'll take jean grey over tiara-less storm. And that's sad because storm is my favorite xmen. I'd be willing to wait until another xmen set, whenever that is, to get her with a new mold. I'm sure she'll still look decent with hair once all is said and done but it'll be the biggest cop-out ever. If they weren't going to give it to us, why design one for the game and then give us some ripoff hairpiece that's just in a new color. :damn: Sorry, rant over. At least it *seems* they're giving her a newly made cape that attaches to her wrists...Rather have her tiara.

I'm so getting that set. For the Wolverine fig and for the Sentinel. If this is a completely separate set from the Blackbird, I would hit it is priced somewhere from $20 to $30. If it is, I can see myself buying two just to have more than one Sentinel.

2014 is looking to be a very expensive year for me in terms of LEGO. Makes me angry that I also have figures to collect from the new Transformers film.

Well they teased great variants for Flash and Batgirl (of all the characters Batgirl, why her? I'm such a fanboy when it comes to Batgirl, she was a disappointment) and we ended up getting a bootless Flash and Batgirl. Ironically they're probably the only characters (aside from Wonder Woman) who actually needed the printing. But as I said, it's more than likely the case, we will most likely be seeing that piece. I'm just glad they didn't give her a mohawk.

Yeah, that is a rip off. I wish they would start doing more leg printing with this theme. But at least they got new molded headpieces :cry_sad:

For Storm's hair/tiara combo Lego could recolor this piece, if it doesn't have a DC copyright. The tiara is a close enough shape to Storm's classic crown (as Queen of Wakanda).

As to DOFP, one of the major plot points was that Kitty Pryde gets possessed by her future self. Getting her as Shadowcat would be consistent. I believe Wolverine wears his Alpha Flight color costume in those issues as well.

I still don't find it that likely, but you're welcome to dream, we all are.

Does that give you credibility as a master at speculation? I don't see the purpose to toot your own horn...

I was just excited as my speculation was mainly a wish list and most of it turned out to be true. If I came off as narcissistic I'm sorry.

It did come off that way but apology accepted!!

Storms Tiara tends to come and go over the years in a very inconsistent manner. (Someone remind me were they using it in the classic 90s cartoon?) while a nice costume element really they key character feature is the flowing white hair.

I don't feel like the tiara is the important part for Storm. She doesn't have it in any of the movies, so most kids wouldn't know any better. I'm just happy we'll get a black female face, not only for Storm but for making other black female characters.

As for who else could be in the set, I think Cyclops would be most likely. If not him, I'd say Beast could fly the Blackbird and I'd almost like him more.

Personally, I'd love a Shadowcat, but since she likely won't have as large a role in the movie as she did in the comic story arc and she can't fly (Can she even pilot the jet?), I'd say chances are slim to none of her being in the set.

Okay, so what I'm guessing is that we will be getting two X-Men sets instead of one (I feel like Brickset messed up somehow). I think the one X-Men set will feature Wolverine (cowl), Cyclops (Astonishing), and a Sentinel. The other set, Magneto, Storm, and another figure (Beast, maybe) driving the Blackbird/X-Jet.

I think a regular sized Colossus is a better bet than getting a rogue figure in an x-mansion set. After all, Rogue was not included in the video game either. It is possible though, but I'd rather have Colossus.

I think Rogue is more mainstream and easier to do than Colossus. People have been making her purist for awhile now. I never minded the big fig Colossus so much, mostly because it balanced out the Brotherhood's Juggernaut. Although, I do understand why people have a problem with that.

From what I've seen of the X-Men set, it looks like they are basing the designs off of the original Uncanny X-Men comic art. Uncanny X-Men 142 cover has Storm and Wolverine battling a sentinel. Storm doesn't have her tiara in that image (Marvel.com DOFP covers). Magneto in the set could be working with the X-Men as the figure seems to be based off of the future Magneto from the aborted timeline. The yellow gloved figure could be Kitty Pride, as she is one of the feature characters in that issue and wore yellow gloves in several different costumes.

As much as I doubt it, I hope you're right. It would be so cool to get a fairly obscure X-Man.

Well they teased great variants for Flash and Batgirl (of all the characters Batgirl, why her? The mohawk would've been pretty cool, actually. Especially considering The Wolverine came out last summer, and in the comics it was Yukio who inspired Storm to get the mohawk. Also, I don't have that piece in any color, so that would be pretty neat on a personal level.

For Storm's hair/tiara combo Lego could recolor this piece, if it doesn't have a DC copyright. The tiara is a close enough shape to Storm's classic crown (as Queen of Wakanda).

Well, in the Days of Future Past movie, Kitty Pryde is now apparently Wolverine. Because he has to be the center of every X-Men movie.

She didn't have the tiara in the 90s cartoon but that was mostly because she was wearing the white uniform at the time. She did have it in both Pryde of the X-Men and Wolverine and the X-Men.

In the 90's tv show she had a gold tiara with a red stone, but I don't think she wore it into battle. After going over her history, the stone is likely her mother's ruby. Much of Storm's history was glossed over in the tv show.

There have been a couple variations of the black tiara, but her current one seems to be a reprise of the one she was wearing when she fought Dracula's control in Uncanny X-Men #159 (1982). I don't have that comic, but I do have (in front of me) the What If #24 (1991) in which she doesn't, and Wolverine ends up Lord of the Vampires. In the classic storyline, and the What If, Kitty Pryde provides the pivotal turning point. Wolverine was also in his brown costume for that storyline as well.

Kitty Pryde is being played by Ellen Page in the DOFP movie. Just saw an image of Omar Sy as Bishop (another possibility for the yellow handed fig) and now I'm excited to see this one.

Kitty Pryde has flown the Blackbird/X-Jet in multiple tv shows and in the comics. Along with being a mutant, she is also a genius. The first X-Men movie made a small reference to this when Wolverine first meets Professor X.

Sorry if it feels like I'm ranting.

It looks more like this part:

Ah, you might be right. It's possible the print has to be kept a certain distance from that raised lip at the bottom though.

They made a set like that with the Lex Luthor Mech and it sold pretty well. Of course, they could've made a big Sentinel and included a much smaller vehicle or something and made THAT a whole set. Maybe if what you said about the various sizes is going through LEGO's corporate head we'll get a bigger, more accurate one down the line. If they would've made the build for the Sentinel look better, I don't think I would have much problem with the size, but it's just so bleh.

That set probably sold for people wanting Superman so much. I doubt they'll do another sentinel set unless they actually start a line of X-Men sets. If they keep randomly releasing one set every two years; they'll probably want to avoid repeating like that. Actually I hope they would avoid it anyway...

That's a reasonable assumption, so I somewhat agree. However I will point out that the Wolverine mold might have already existed. It is highly possible they created the mold for Wolverine back when the first X-men set was made, but wasn't used. Storm's hair might not be ready as well, it is a bit more complicated of a design and so they might still be working on it. I will point out though that Flash and Batgirl lacked their headgear in their prelims and those sets were to be released only a few months later. So the prelims aren't an exact science on what we will or won't get. It's not uncommon for things to end up almost completely different.

In the end I think it could go either way on this one. I guess it wouldn't be completely disappointing if she ends up with that hairpiece, but for now I guess I want to hope for the tiara.

Didn't she fly it (pretty badly) in one of the films? The third one I think.
