So, it appears, are enlightened friend hasn't returned with news. Toy Fair's on Tuesday in London, and I'm sure concrete info will surface on the Blackbird. With that in mind, I'm still holding out hope for either Mystique, Sabertooth, Bishop, Gambit, Cyke, Colossus, or Beast, at the very least a forth and fifth fig. Is there a possibility of a Marvel D2C as DC had one last year?

I really do think that we will see a Marvel D2C this year. I am holding out hope that it is going to be the X-mansion, but I don't mind if it's not and we get a helicarrier instead. Edited by Legoman123

I just have a really hard time imagining an X-mansion set when Lego is putting so little effort into the X-men side of things. Helicarrier seems more likely (and a lot harder to pull off well, so probably less great). To me, though, no Marvel D2C at all seems most likely.

X mansion would be hard for me to turn down.

The new sets on toys R us seem too cheap.

You noticed that too? Something really odd about new sets popping up there and not having the usual markup. Might have to do with them not being available online yet, anyway, but can't you still price-match the site in store?

Fyi, the new Marvel sets are on the toys r us website. Hopefully will be seeing them out soon.

DAMN IT! I just spent the last of my christmas money on two DC sets, I've got nothing to spare until at least march

Well if a Marvell D2C is released in June or July time we probably won't here anything yet. We don't even know the star wars D2C for May yet.

We do know the Star Wars May D2C. It's the Sandcrawler. But, it's true, we wouldn't know a June or July D2C this early. Let's hope Carlos gives us some info.

I'm disappointed that there's no green lantern this year. Lets hope we get more dc sets this summer.

I figure if we don't hear about a summer DC wave during the next toy fair or so, I'll probably just break down and buy a custom Green Lantern. :sceptic: Looking like a disappointing year for DC, except for toddlers with the Duplo.

All the LEGO Movie sets went on the shelves without the TRU Tax. I'm not sure whether that was just an introductory price, though.

Maybe TRU are finally gonna stop their ridiculous markup that I've never understood how they can charge in an era of mass online shopping? Maybe?

No, I know that's crazy talk.

I didn't know that was confirmed. :classic:

How was Arkham unveiled? Didn't the prison uniformed Joker just pop up from no where and speculation started on a new DC set, and then later on it was found out that it was Arkham? I'm hopeful we'll get something, maybe X-Men related or Guardians? Just one more day till London toy fair, then we'll know for certain as to what's in the Blackbird.

That Joker minifigure popped up on Owl.ly a day before the minifigures for the 2013 DC sets were revealed at SDCC. It was one of the figures at SDCC. Arkham was revealed in September at a LEGO convention.

Looking at MODOK, he looks like he has torso pirinting, but at the same time it looks like an armor piece as well

Might be part of his giant head piece?

That armor piece is attached to the head, it's present on pictures of the head by itself. I assume it's there to offer more stability to the overly large head.

Well first off despite growing up with the yellow and blue costume I've never really been a fan of it. The brown and yellow version has for quite some time been my favorite. Second Lego printed the cowl on the back of the torso, which I consider to be very taunting of them (Didn't appreciate that at all). Then on top of that they give us Wolverine's face fully revealed, which bothers me for very basic reasons. For instance what is the point of the costume if you're not going to bother wearing the mask that's literally attached to it? Or why take the mask off in the middle of a battle? and on top of that why print the mask on the torso if the character can't use it? And even with the new cowl I can't use it on the old minifigure because of that goofy printing on the back, so it would always look wrong from the back. At the end of the day it just equals an unusable minifigure to me. So I will buy the new set happily and forget how disappointed I was at the last set.

With the current Wolverine torso, given the new comic costumed hoodies, you could always use it in a City setting. I've seen Wolverine ones with the mask on the hood. You're welcome.

If I do pick up the new X-men set, I'll have to make a little diorama of a fanatic Wolverine fan pestering the real Wolverine for an autograph using that idea.

They have been since December keeping some of their prices at retail. Toys-r-us was bought by Bain awhile back. They were given a certain amount of time to halt their declining sales and start turning a profit. I imagine we will see more of retail prices at TRU but not sure it wil keep them from being liquidated.

If they were bought by Bain, it won't. For one thing, Bain basically doesn't do anything but gut retail companies they buy. For another, it's just not realistic for a chain like Toys 'R' Us to make a recovery dramatic enough for Bain to find it acceptable, in a market increasingly dominated by online sales.

And by now they've probably burnt a lot of good will with the more savvy consumers who realize there's absolutely no reason to shop there and pay the huge markup. I stopped in mine today and was kind of excited to see 9466 on the shelf still, which I never got around to picking up... only to see a $69.99 sticker on it. Even discontinued I can get it cheaper than that! And Jabba's Palace was $164.99.

The new Hobbit sets (last month) were also at retail for a couple of weeks, then went the same way as the rest of their inventory (bloated prices).

Whether it's intentional to draw in the unsuspecting, or just someone not doing their job in a timely manner, it seems they are still keeping up to their old tricks, just not right away.

So the new super hero sets might stay at retail past being available :)

Speaking of which anyone have any luck finding these new sets in stores? I checked one TRU this afternoon and they didn't even have them in back yet (sometimes they'll get stuff early and actually pay attention to the "street date" sometimes they just put it out on the shelf when they get it).

Barry from brickfanatics.co.uk (http://brickfanatics.co.uk/london-toy-fair-report/) brings us news from the London Toy Fair:

On to Superheros, Suerpheroes becoming an evergreen line. Means they’re as integral as Star Wars and City to Lego. Spider-Man in Marvel is the bestselling product line, and Batman for DC. For Marvel they had the X-Jet: It’s Cyclops in his Astonishing X-Men uniform. Storm in her debut black outfit. Magneto has white slicked back hair. The X-Jet doesn’t look like the classic X-Jet, or the one in the game. Blunt ended and much smaller than the Quinjet. £44.99

3 Guardians of the Galaxy sets. 76021, 76019, 76020. Only licensees could see these. Luckily Disney were on a tour behind us and I caught a glimpse of a brick-built Groot and a giant blue and yellow ship. For DC they’re moving the product range due for release in 2015 to 2016 to coincide with the new Batman/Superman film. And inserting a new range in 2015.
