JaseTJ Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 You're all comparing the x-jet, which is half of a $50 set, to the Quinjet, which is the bulk of a $70 set...? Wouldn't it be more comprable to, say, the most recent Bat-plane size? That's half of a $50 set, no? Quote
Hrafnblod Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) Yeah, I'd personally rather have the other cyclops because he would fit in better. I wish we could get that early cyclops from the game that had the molded headpiece for his visor thing. I'm guessing they changed it though so they wouldn't have to make a new mold when they made his fig as you said. I honestly don't care much for this version but I'd still like him for my collection. So does this mean we'll never get a jean grey fig? I actually really liked her game design and now that cyclops is coming in this variant, it seems unlikely to me we'll ever get that jean grey. Jean Grey might not require new molds (since they can always fall back on their favorite female hair mold). That said, who knows when we might see her, next year we'll probably get one X-men set with Wolverine, Magneto, Cyclops and Beast, then the year after we'll get one with Wolverine, Magneto, and Iceman, then we'll get one with Wolverine, Magneto and Rogue... The_Chosen_1 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 It's fantastic news that the Superhero licenses are seen as an "evergreen" property now for Lego. I'm looking forward to many more years of DC and (especially!!) Marvel sets. Quote
DJ Bricks Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 By the sounds of it he only got quick glances at sets and only wrote what he remembered. We should get more accurate details from FBTB and Brickset, and i hope they are allowed to see the GotG sets. And i like the fact the Magneto has hair and i hopr Storm has a new hair mold. Quote

With the whole movie spoiler issue I'll be surprised if we hear anything super-definitive about GotG other than the shortest glimpses. Brick-built Groot i exciting, though. I love the Guardians and this year is pretty much a dream come true with them getting a movie and Lego sets. Quote

Numbuh1Nerd Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 It is great to know that we'll get a new DC wave to replace the void left by the movie shift. I'm not too worried about those sets being rushed either, since at this point, I bet Lego only knows as much as we do about Superman vs. Batman, so they wouldn't be any more prepared. I bet they know what the new Batsuit looks like, though. They'd have to in order to design the figure. Maybe if we're lucky Lego will be the ones to let the bat out of the bag on this, like with the Chitauri in the Avengers, One word: YES! Blue and yellow ship shares Star Lord's color scheme so his ship seems to be more and more plausible. But, of course, blue and yellow is also Nova's color scheme so who knows. I'm just glad that we're getting Groot, the only Guardian that I thought would be overlooked. Very intrigued and excited! I have no doubt that that ship is Star Lord's. It's pretty integral to the comics and characters from what I've heard and it's a big, expensive vehicle and we all know how much Lego loves those. Quote

Numbuh1Nerd Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 All I can say is that I am happy we are getting an X-men set with some cool minifigures. Whilst the X-jet doesn't sound that promising I will most definitely still pick it up. Now onto 2015. I personally hope we get an expansion of JL characters, like Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern and Cyborg, as well as a few villains for them to go up against. Lastly I would like to see some more unique Batman villains as well e.g. the ventriloquist, Black Mask etc. Since the delay news just broke a few days ago about Batman/Superman, I doubt LEGO will be producing anything too mind-blowing. They might have time for new molds if we're lucky, but I wouldn't get your heart set on Cyborg. Martian Manhunter and Green Lantern won't require any new molds by any stretch of the imagination (well, maybe not any). Ventriloquist would be super cool, but I doubt we'll get anyone that obscure just yet. Black Mask is a possibility. I'm hoping we get Clayface this round. He's about as mainstream as Man-Bat, so that seems like it wouldn't be much of a stretch. Firefly would be pretty awesome, too. Yeah, I'd personally rather have the other cyclops because he would fit in better. I wish we could get that early cyclops from the game that had the molded headpiece for his visor thing. I don't understand why they'd go with this version over the other. The other Cyclops is just as doable as this one. All he needs is a new torso print, maybe leg printing, the default brown tousled hair, and a new head print. I'm concerned this Cyclops is going to turn out like Captain America. http://comicbook.com...the-lego-movie/ The Flash to appear in the Lego Movie! Hm. All they're missing is Aquaman and Cyborg and they'll have the whole New 52 Justice League. Sounds like something DC would do, too. Quote

They can probably come up with something decent in that amount of time. I mean, yeah, it'll just be more Batman, but it might still be cool. And of course Cyclops will be like Captain America. We need more bald minifigs for non-bald characters. Quote

Dr Leg O Brick Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) Wohooo! First I was disappointed at the sound of this "X-Jet", until I realized that the stubby nose sounded familiar. Sounds like it appeared in the comics, the best IMO run of the X-Men. I remembered it from #129, the first part of the phoenix saga. Here's a pic of the outside http://static4.wikia...126big-SR71.gif, and the inside http://4.bp.blogspot...XMen1260001.jpg, to give you an idea of size. Anybody who has any versions of the comic can see it in better detail. Had a look around but couldn't find any better. As for Magneto, he should be with the X-Men in set. When he wore the costume without the helmet (I remember it from the first, original, X-Men V Avengers series, http://media.comicbo...vengers_001.jpg) he'd renounced his evil ways, hence lack of helmet. And to add, why lot's of us are comparing the Quinjet to the now Mini Blackbird is because the Blackbird in the main transport for the X-Men, ala Quinjet and Fantasticar. We naturally expected it to be big. Obviously not in Lego's eyes, maybe saving the budget for the Guardians sets? Also it appears the guy we where cautious of was right, Cyke was in the Mini Bird and the Blackbird turned out, well, to be mini. Edited January 21, 2014 by Dr Leg O Brick Quote
DJ Bricks Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I think they just gave him that costume to give him a varaint. I hope Storm has a new mould since Magneto had a helmet in the prelims. I think. Some websites will have descriptions. Up by tonight. Isnt that how it works? Quote

KingPixels Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 No Wolverine!? Helmet-less Magneto!? Overall an extremely disappointing reveal. Wonder where the pictures of Wolvie + Sentinel came from. Excited for the GotG sets! Quote

Excited for the GotG sets! Doesn't mean wolverine and the sentinel aren't in the set. The description wasn't very detailed so I'm assuming he left it out while trying to remember all the information about other sets. Quote

ianmrid Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) Sorry, some of the information was not conveyed completely (I was with Barry viewing this stuff - we only had 30 mins to view everything Lego had to offer! We already made the nice lady late for her next appt. by 15 mins as we were really dragging round!). Wolverine and the Sentinel are in the set also - Wolvie with a cowl, as per the pic. The Sentinel looks less crappy in person but is still too skinny and not as imposing as I would like. But the proportions with the head seem better than the pic makes them look. I was disappointed with the X-Jet though - wasn't instantly recognisable as the X-Jet IMHO and reminded me of a bigger Ninjago plane. It is this Cyclops costume in the set, although none of the actual figs were there - just mock-up pics, but they said they would be very accurate to how they would look when produced: I don't think cyclops is going to look like that. If I'm not mistaken, we're getting the other variant of cyclops that is unlockable later in the game. Does that break the consistency of our xmen figs? Whoever suggested the Chima Phoenix Bird for Jean's Phoenix effect - it is excellent for that - it was my first thought! The Mammoth big fig would also make a good purist Mammomax. Although no one will do that because he is an awful character :) And yes, we couldn't take pics in the Lego bit at all. Edited January 21, 2014 by ianmrid Quote

So I guess the big question is, was there anything about the jet design you noticed (big molds? something else?) to warrant its $50 price tag? Or is it just plain overpriced for what it is like a lot of us are starting to assume? Quote
