Sam892 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I am of the opinion that the March release date has to do with MegaCon. As a major fan convention, Marvel and DC should be there. It is possible we could see the trailers for Guardians of the Galaxy there, and if so, we may also get to see the Lego sets. Dare I type the "E" word? Speculation . . . gotta give it up. I doubt it's got anything to do with Megacon, and more to do with the LEGO Movie. The movie comes out in February so it makes sense that LEGO are hold some sets until after the release of the film. Most likely this will cause more hype among kids and keep people focused more on the Movie. Also this isn't the first year the Marvel sets have been released around March/April. The Avengers sets from 2012 were released around this time. Also do LEGO even go to Megacon? I've never heard of LEGO going to the event. Quote

Captain America Winter Soldier. I think they like to have a fresh block of sets out on shelves 2-4 weeks before that to maximize cross capitalization. Weren't the Avengers sets out about a month before the movie? The same with IM3 and the Doc Oc set with relation to ASM? The sets don't necessarily have to be specifically movie based so long as they are in the general ball park for recognizable characters. Quote
Rinzler Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) A friend of mine who is one of the designers for LEGO, announced that there will be a Hal Jordan minifigure in 2015 Not sure wether to question you on this, or jump up and scream like a teenage girl that has just seen her boyfriend naked Edited January 27, 2014 by Rinzler Quote
The_Creator Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 SDCC exclusives are generally annoying, so if TLG was to do like they did with Sups and Azog that'd be great. A GL minifigure is awesome news! All I'll have to do is switch out the head and hair for War Machine's head, since John Stewart doesn't wear a green mask-thingy and vala I have John Stewart. Quote
rosalind14 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Iron Spider would be interesting. I'm a little surprised that with 3 more spidey's in this coming wave at least one wasn't (Since all it would be is different printing, and a Venom back piece with arms - no new molds). Wouldn't an Iron Spidey be - relatively - easy to try and do a'la MOC? I have the look in my head but not sure it could actually work!!! Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Even if it's easy to MOC, he has a rather unique design to what would end up being the torso, and just because you can MOC it doesn't mean it would hurt for it to come in a set! Quote
legofreak86 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) I'm not surprised that the marvel sets are scheduled for march as the 28th of march Captain America 2 comes out over here in the UK shortly followed by Amazing Spiderman 2 on April 18th. Lego will of course target the month that two of the bigger superhero movies come out and with DOFP in may the timing could not be better. Edited January 27, 2014 by legofreak86 Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I agree. Or if they HAVE to have "exclusives" make it the packaging ONLY, then release the figure within a couple of months in a widely available set (Like Azog). I like the idea of "Get it here first!" exclusives as opposed to "Cry your hearts out, nerds!" exclusives. Iron Spider would be interesting. I'm a little surprised that with 3 more spidey's in this coming wave at least one wasn't (Since all it would be is different printing, and a Venom back piece with arms - no new molds). And then they could go on to make my favorite Spidey variant, Superior Spider-Man! And then Miles Morales, of course. A boy can dream, can't he? Wouldn't an Iron Spidey be - relatively - easy to try and do a'la MOC? I have the look in my head but not sure it could actually work!!! A PURIST custom? I don't know how possible that would be, but I'd adore seeing one if you can pull something together. I really hope that source is legit on the Green Lantern news. Not only do I really need Green Lantern for my Justice League line-up, but it will also open the door to some really awesome customs of other GL core members! I'm getting all excited just thinking about it! Quote
The Brigante Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Been a while since I posted here, but SOME of the 2014 minifigs look amazing (and yes, I'm in the GG is awesome camp). Nice to see classic Cap and Thor as well. Probably get Thor and use him as Ragnarok, likewise the new brown Wolverine could easily double as Daken in my collection :) :) On the subject of exclusives: hate them with a passion. Especially living in the UK where even if I did have enough money to buy one on eBay or wherever, I'd have to pay astronomical postage charges. I do, however, like the idea of preview figs. If they'd have done Falcon and Cage for Marvel and Dick and Babs for DC, for example, the fans would be so much happier as some would get figs early and those that didn't would know they just have to wait a few months for sets, not wait a few months to have £/$X000. A boy can dream, can't he? Slightly off topic, but wouldn't a Amazing Spiderman (from the movies) work as a base for a purist custom? (I'm just going off his version in the video game). It's darker blue. I can't think of any red skeleton arm pieces off the top of my head, but it might be doable. Quote

That is, if I could afford to spend hundreds of dollars to make it, haha. Even so, I'd be getting that kickin' Green Arrow over a Spidey variant. Quote
Spider-Man Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 So with some of the 2014 sets appearing on eBay, is it safe to assume they should be released in the next week or so? I'm pretty excited for all the awesome figs, now if only the builds could improve we would have some really great sets. (as a side note, I too would be all for an official Iron Spider!) Quote

I'm anxious to get my hands on that Penguin set, and I missed Cap the first time around-- which is just as well, since Red Skull is a very welcome addition (more than the alien soldiers from the Avengers set). I don't mind the Hydra tank that much. It's not great but not too bad, either. I just wish it had one more Hydra trooper, one henchman isn't really enough for anything and since he doesn't come in any other set, it's disappointing. Quote

Numbuh1Nerd Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 We are forgetting somebody: SPIDER-MAN 2099 If we ever get Spider-Man 2099, we absolutely HAVE to get Batman Beyond in that same wave. And if what I heard is true, we have an opening for Batman Beyond to show up, as apparently Bruce Timm and Darwyn Cooke are making Batman Beyond shorts for DC Nation this year. Maybe if we're lucky we'll get a whole series spin-off, and with Bruce Timm behind the scenes we can be sure we won't have another Teen Titans Go fiasco on our hands. I'd even be okay with the suit just being a variant in another Joker or Scarecrow set or something. anything but comic-con exclusive because i swear to god if they do.... ) Quote
Suspsy Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 As tired as I am of DC Super Heroes being approximately 96% Batman, I will say that I'd like a new Batboat. We've had two new Batmobiles, two new Batplanes, two new Batcycles, and yet Batman's current naval strength remains pitiful. That little scuba thingy just doesn't cut it. Quote

The Joker King and some other Jokers (in that story there are hundreds) could be the enemy, and we could get the old Dick Grayson in tactical combat gear. Vigilante also makes his appearance in that storyline. Quote

I've said it once, I'll say it a thousand more, DC needs more big figs. As for the boat, we haven't gotten a submarine yet, and I think the last Batboat was plenty speedboat-esque. When it comes to this next DC wave, I'm hoping for a short list of things. 1. Green Lantern 2. Big figs 3. A cool vehicle for Robin 4. A non-Batman villain and/or 5. A structure-centric set as opposed to a vehicle-centric one. Quote
