It came from all about bricks who also got the set list for the current sets before anyone else. Their also the ones who said we would get a Green Lantern figure sometime this year, but they couldn't say how we would get him.

Actually, I believe it was Brick Fanatics who began the Green Lantern rumor, specifically because I remember people pointing that out and linking to the source. All About Bricks (according to many) is always right, which actually gets me all jittery that they would announce such a theme! Though perhaps someone else began the rumor.

Great, an unexpected Martian Manhunter. Looks like I might need to purchase the 2014 Marvel sets sooner than I had planned.

Out of curiosity though, if you visited a LEGO Store, would they allow you to buy the exclusive fig itself? When they were giving away the Jor-El figure, I believe I noticed a sign next to the register saying that you could've purchased it for $5.99 or something like that.

There were rumors circulating of a cancelled collectable series of Marvel figures. I'm not sure when it started but I remember seeing it around six months ago.

But again, what info are we supposed to share our thoughts on in terms of the GOTG sets?

Well you can say what you think the sets will look like?

When you have an exclusive w/ purchase set/fig in your bag on the Lego website, if you click on it you will see a MSRP value. You can't actually purchase the set/fig because there is no 'add to bag' button on that page. I have enough in my bag right now to get the current w/ purchase exclusive, and it is valued at $4.99.

What you may have seen was "A $5.99 value."

About the Guardians of the Galaxy sets, the only info I read was someone reporting from the London Toy Fair, where there were no cameras allowed. Somehow they saw a small opening in the cover for the Guardians of the Galaxy, but only glimpsed a small portion of the sets before being rushed on. The only thing that could be discerned was a brick built Groot and a portion of a blue and yellow ship.

As long as you put a healthy dose of lesser known characters in, variants, army builders, Kree, Skrull, Brood, AIM, SHEILD, Hydra etc, and the odd well know character, variant of course like Spider-Man 2099, Doom 2099, or shell head Iron Man. I don't see it hampering sales, as long as they are different enough.

All of these ideas would make me spend a lot of money of Marvel CMFs. There are so many classic costumes from Marvel over the years, getting more along with footsoldiers would be fantastic.

I hope we will get Rocket Raccoon! if he is done how i see him in my mind, He will be the best fig ever! he needs to wear his orange suit as he does in the Movie

Thanks Doom2099. In fact, on further consideration, it might enhance sales. When I buy a SHEILD "helicarrier Playset" or an AIM lab, I expect, well, you know, AIM and SHEILD guys. CMF's would give you the opportunity to fill the sets with appropriate figures. In another tread, somebody had a great idea of Madrox as a CMF, as you can never have too many Madrox's. I might regret this, but I would happily pay £4 for a SH CMF.

Maybe that 'secret' set in March is a set with that new black Batman suit + the Green Lantern.

All signs point to it being the Sea Cow pirate ship from the Lego Movie, not anything SH related. Pretty much the only chance it looks like we have of GL this year would be a surprise store-exclusive set that somehow hasn't been revealed, or him being a promo pack-in with the Lego Movie blu-ray or something. And both of those are just wild speculation.

It's probably safe to say we'll get all 5 of the main team members from the movie. I just hope we get a Star-Lord headpiece that looks like the movie version rather than the helmet from the video game. Actually I hope we get a headpiece at all since Lego really, really loves to just give us printed heads with no headgear in this theme.

I will be greatly disappointed if the March 1st Exclusive is the Sea Cow... Considering it's announced by name and picture on the February Calendar, I don't see why it would be unnamed on March's...

All I know is that the exclusive sets on the 1st are usually available to VIP members on the 17th-or-so of the preceding month. Since it looks like Feb. 17th is when we get the Sea Cow it stands to reason it's the "March" exclusive. Not saying it's not disappointing, I think everyone here knows my feelings in general on the Lego movie sets.

I am a bit disappointed by the GotG sets, the Milano ship is definitely really difficult to get right in Lego - in that small scale, but the result still looks a bit sad. The color was really wonky, while the source material looks really nice and sleek with the blue and yellow. Also the wings looked strange with lot of Bionicle pieces that I usually don't like too much. Still, the ship holds three minifigures, which is nice. The brickbuilt Groot figure looks terrible, but that's probably just me as I am not a huge fan of brickbuilt figures. The playset (with some lava and an erased platform) looked boring, the smaller scale spaceships once again looked terrible. I saw the source and other toys and they were meant to look great, the Lego ones were just disappointing and something you and me could easily do with a couple of bricks. Of course I hold my final judgment until when we see finalized models or pictures, but the first impression is not good.

The X-Men Jet was a nice surprise, as it looks pretty good. Just strange that it comes with Wolverine and Magneto - again! That's an odd choice as there are many that deserve to be made. Storm looks nice, though. And I'm not too deep into the comics so I couldn't honestly say what the purple brickbuilt figure is. Once again, you get me, that figure was terrible.

I'm sure the Movie minifigs will sell very well.

However, I have reservations about the Simpsons. A lot of parents won't be wanting their children to be playing with characters from a show they're not allowed to watch .

I'd leap into the air and punch the sky if Lego announced a Super Heroes CMF line. :)

Would there really be legal obstacles to the latter though?

I suspect the reason for Wolverine and Magneto again is that they are the some of the most well-known x-men.

Xavier is also well-known but there may be reasons why LEGO doesn't want to do an Xavier fig (with or without wheelchair)

Did you see them in person or are you referring to pictures somewhere?

I think it has more to do with laziness, considering how abruptly the previous X-men set vanished from shelves in the past few months. Sure, it was due for EOL but it was just there one day and totally gone the next, seemed like. Cleared out to make room for an upcoming set with 2/3 of its figures rehashed.

There could be, if other companies hold action figure rights to the characters. Selling essentially a minifig by itself constitutes an "action figure" under some clauses, it's why they can't sell SW magnets that are just a figure on a magnet base anymore.

Thanks for the info, 'Zzz'! :sweet:

So, if I get it right, the three sets will be... a big set with the big ship, the middle set with a lava playset, and a small set with a small ship? And, it sucks to here that these are underwhelming. I was really looking forward to this subtheme.

we need Xavier so they will have to work out how they will do him one day

And here I was looking forward to the Guardians sets. I still believe that Lego can pull it off, and I'll remain hopeful

that something comes out looking great.

Saw them all in person but found this now googling "Lego X-Men Jet" = http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BSr9XnXc-Cw/UuB3nIknWMI/AAAAAAAAPTo/Hqg7S7s3jaw/s1600/LegoWolverineSentinel.jpg

- which is the figure I was talking about. I guess this wasn't posted here yet.

Do you remember the figs or take notes? I imagain that if the sentinel looked bad, Groot would too. Star-Lord probably comes in two sets, the big one and the smallest.

What did the Blackbird look like too?

Posted (edited)

The biggest GotG set has the Milano starship and a very small one-man fighter, which was black. Medium one was the Lava playset and smallest one was another one-man fighter craft, more colorful than the first. I believe 80€ / 40€ / 20€.

Edit:

In the cockpit of the starship was the female character with yellow (?) skin (head looked like Black Widow in angry version with the strange cheek lines), Groot was in the medium set, Starlord with / without Mask in the big and medium, the big one also had what I supposed to be either the collector or another villain. The pilot of the little space craft was .. male. I don't know what he was.

Edit2:

The Blackbird looked smaller than the Avengers plane and was blue with not much space for figures I believe.

How big was the blackbird? And what minifigures did you see in the guardians of the galaxy sets? Thanks.

Sounds like there are too many £50 sets that I want but could be better, the x men set and the 2 big figs sets both have things I really like but other thing that are not as good so will need to find some good sales for them

Yeah that pic showed up a while back, along with one of Storm. Just no pictures of the actual jet yet, that I've seen. If you saw these in person though that confirms that we didn't get pictures or news through the usual channels simply on account of shoddy reporting that blows off certain themes.

I'm not going to take one person calling them underwhelming too seriously (though given what Marvel sets usually look like I'm also not hopeful). Someone on Brickset or some other major website dismissed the Ultra Agents sets out of hand too and they look pretty awesome. Opinions can vary!

I can kind of agree with this, it seems like we're getting quite a few big sets this year. That's a lot of money, especially for a lot of mediocre builds (Spider-copter, AIM lab, most likely the X-jet from everything we've heard, and now possibly the GotG sets too).

Where was Rocket Raccoon? How did he look?
