Zzz Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) I'm not going to take one person calling them underwhelming too seriously (though given what Marvel sets usually look like I'm also not hopeful). Someone on Brickset or some other major website dismissed the Ultra Agents sets out of hand too and they look pretty awesome. Opinions can vary! I saw the source material that's why I might be a bit biased, cause in the movie they look awesome And they were clearly not final. I agree with you about the Agents, those were the winner for me at the fair! Thanks for the info, 'Zzz'! ... and I cannot remember if I saw the raccoon, I am confused by seeing the hi res image just a couple of days before... Edited February 2, 2014 by Zzz Quote
DJ Bricks Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 The Collector is the whit haired guy fro thor 2. Ronan is the bad guy an has blue skin and a hood, other villian is a cyborg woman named Nebula. Was Star-Lords mask a seperant mould or a double sided face? Quote

I agree with you about the Agents, those were the winner for me at the fair! I totally get you, and I'm sure just because of the issues with Lego the scale is going to be way off. That's part of why I wasn't super thrilled at the prospect of a big ship set, even in a best case scenario it'd be something like the Malevolence or ISD playsets, which are a little silly. I was just meaning they may seem really cool to some of us even if you weren't thrilled by them. I'll second the question above me though, did Star-Lord have a new molded headpiece? And was it enclosed/goggled like the movie art or did it have a "visor" bit like the video game version? I'm also curious about Rocket Raccoon, but Star-Lord is my favorite of the group (besides Drax but I really doubt they'll mess him up). Quote
Suspsy Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Yes, I've been less than impressed by how some people who've attended Toy Fair casually dismiss or skim over any and all lines they're not personally interested in. Quote

That image was from the Lego Marvel Video game. On the topic of Martian Manhunter, I actually think the fig looks great! Im not a diehard new 52 fan, but Im not a hater either. To me though, I think the fig looks a lot like the one in Lego Batman 2, and it makes sense that they would use this design for the minifig. From what you said the Gamora (girl)and Star-Lord are in the largest sets, groot comes in the medium, what do the Raccoon ( i assume the same as Groot because the are BFF) and Drax (tattooed guy) come in. villians are The Collecter http://themodernmage.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/guardians-of-the-galaxy-villain-collector.jpeg Ronan http://cdn.screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/Ronan-the-Accuser-Hammer-Marvel.jpg Nebula http://woxter.info/wp-content/plugins/rpp/cache/f9bb4_Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Karen-Gillan-Nebula.jpg Yondu http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/4430/40x5.jpg Nova Corps Rhomann Dey http://static3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130813222330/marvelmovies/images/3/39/Rhomann_dey_and_korath.jpg Korath http://www.slashgear.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/655376-sc0006baa4_copy.jpg Quote

Zzz Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Ronan was in the biggest set, I am pretty sure. The others I don't recall, but Drax and the raccoon will obviously be in the lineup. Also I would estimate the Milano at the size / price of the Avengers Jet, which was 80€ over here. It's not anywhere near ISD size. I would say his mask was printed, so it might be a 2-sided head, but really, don't nail me down on it. And again - those were not final, unlike the SW sets (except Rebels). For some reasons the most interesting parts for me were at the very end of the tour and I've been through the Jungle Friends, Disney Princesses, Creators, Movie Sets, Arctic and lots more before I came to Marvel & SW. I even had a look at the mixels and the Trevi fountain afterwards. Btw., the chairs in the Milano were directed in the same way as in the Avengers jet (pilot to the front, 2 in the back facing each other), but all were under one big hood. Yeah, I remember those strange things. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) I hate printed cheek lines, especially on female minifigures, here's to hoping Gamora has some great prints! Edited February 2, 2014 by Freddy Bricker Quote
Sam892 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) From playing the LEGO Marvel videogame, I can see Wolverines new Face print when he dies. He has white glasses similar to Nova's which gives him white eyes through the cowl. He also has the same stubble and sideburns that he has in the Deadpool. Edited February 2, 2014 by Sam892 Quote
DJ Bricks Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Shouldnt be hard to remember which set a Raccoon with orange outfit, like i said hes probably in tje same set as Groot because the are a pair and BFF. I figured Star-Lord would be in all three sets. drax is probably in the largest set, due to Drax trying to have revenge on Ronan. Quote
gedren_y Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Yondu was never a villain. Yes, and as one of the original Guardians of the Galaxy he is my only want out of this. If he doesn't have his classic blade hand, I know where to get an aftermarket piece to approximate it. Doesn't look like he'll have his classic outfit, though. Hopefully his fin is digital in the movie, so we could at least have that. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Was it not confirmed to be digital? Also just realized how much money I'll be saving this year from Superheroes, but the Steamroller and AIM lab remain must buy's. Quote

Kerberos Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Great, an unexpected Martian Manhunter. Looks like I might need to purchase the 2014 Marvel sets sooner than I had planned. Out of curiosity though, if you visited a LEGO Store, would they allow you to buy the exclusive fig itself? When they were giving away the Jor-El figure, I believe I noticed a sign next to the register saying that you could've purchased it for $5.99 or something like that. My store's done that before but only if they have a bunch left over when the promotion ends. Quote
wesker Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I suspect the reason for Wolverine and Magneto again is that they are the some of the most well-known x-men. Xavier is also well-known but there may be reasons why LEGO doesn't want to do an Xavier fig (with or without wheelchair) I don't think there's any reason why Lego wouldn't do Xavier. Remember this is only the second X-Men set they've made. They can only include so many minifigures at once. We are getting Cyclops and Storm who are just as well known, if not more than Xavier. Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 A quick question, Zzz, did the Blackbird look anything like this: http://static4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100409035829/x-men/images/5/56/126big-SR71.gif. Great to hear the collector is in these sets, is it possible the smaller ship belongs to the Nova corps? And another quick question to Zzz, was there an bald blue figure in any of the sets? Quote
montgocloud Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I'm not sure if I missed something here, but does the Milano ship belong to the Guardians or to the Nova Corps (they both share the same color scheme)? Because in the comics the Guardians' ship is just called "Ship" and a quick Google search didn't yield any results. Quote
kevkipo Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I am a bit disappointed by the GotG sets, the Milano ship is definitely really difficult to get right in Lego - in that small scale, but the result still looks a bit sad. The color was really wonky, while the source material looks really nice and sleek with the blue and yellow. Also the wings looked strange with lot of Bionicle pieces that I usually don't like too much. Still, the ship holds three minifigures, which is nice. The brickbuilt Groot figure looks terrible, but that's probably just me as I am not a huge fan of brickbuilt figures. The playset (with some lava and an erased platform) looked boring, the smaller scale spaceships once again looked terrible. I saw the source and other toys and they were meant to look great, the Lego ones were just disappointing and something you and me could easily do with a couple of bricks. Of course I hold my final judgment until when we see finalized models or pictures, but the first impression is not good. The X-Men Jet was a nice surprise, as it looks pretty good. Just strange that it comes with Wolverine and Magneto - again! That's an odd choice as there are many that deserve to be made. Storm looks nice, though. And I'm not too deep into the comics so I couldn't honestly say what the purple brickbuilt figure is. Once again, you get me, that figure was terrible. Milano ship? Quote

Spider-Man Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Can't you really remember a small little Raccoon in Orange? also did you see something about the Hobbit? :D He said a few times already that he didn't remember seeing Rocket Raccoon, and in the Hobbit forum he stated that the sets weren't on display yet unfortunately Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 He also said the figures he saw were not final. It's entirely possible that they had a figure standing in for Rocket Raccoon that wasn't recognizable as him. I don't see how they could get away with not making him in minifigure form. Of the whole team, I'd say he's probably the most well-known simply because of the oddity that he's a raccoon. Quote
montgocloud Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 If they're making Groot, you'd better believe they're making Rocket Raccoon. If the movie follows the recent comics to any degree (excluding Iron Man and Angela), then the character focus should be something like: Star-Lord Gamora Rocket Raccoon Drax Groot I imagine RR will be one of the major things audiences (including kids!) will remember about this movie. Not making a LEGO minifigure out of him would probably not be the best business decision. Quote
Sam892 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I find all this talk about whether Rocket Racoon will be in the sets a bit silly. After all I can't see LEGO not capitalising on the most marketable character in the film. I also can't see why LEGO would exclude anyone from the team. After all we received all of the Avengers in the Avengers movie sets. The reason the figures we're stand ins and not final, may be down to how much secrecy is surrounding the film. On top of that these sets won't be released for another 5-6 months, so it's highly likely the complex mold required for Rocket isn't finished or been finalised yet. Quote
