Numbuh1Nerd Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 At which point each blind bag costs $10, ...worth it Except it would remove the whole point of CMF's, meaning they wouldn't be blind bags. Let's say LEGO made a SH CMF series that included Wolverine, Spider-man, Nova, Iron Fist, Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Loki plus one Big Fig like Hulk. Everyone is going to know which the Big Fig is, because the Big fig is fricking huge compared to mini figs. They'll be one huge packet surrounded by normal ones in the box. It would also make it harder to get that figure, because people know it's the big fig and grab it when they see it. The point of CMFs is that each character is random, and although there isn't a equal percentage of each figure you could get any figure as you don't know. A single special Big Fig would be a terrible idea. Everyone knows it's the big fig, no one will be able to get one due to everyone graving the only huge packet in the box, which in turn raises it's price on the secondary market. It's basically like the SDCC exclusives, no one can get them and they would be expensive on the secondary market ( all be it not as expensive as the SDCC's) No, no, like this, where there're 3 or 4 bling bags with one big fig (or in this case, figurine or giant card) that's exclusive to that specific batch of boxes. Heck, maybe even we could have them in specific cardboard boxes, like the way they sell those vinyl figures at book stores or Hot Topic, that way it way blind and you couldn't tell which was which from feeling around. The-Daryl Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Good news there are 4 GotG sets :) I wonder which retailer (in the US) gets the exclusive one (since there were only 3 in the general retail catalog). Target? Walmart? Toys R Us (please no!) ? Personally - As much as I like getting more sets, I really dislike retailer exclusives; they are much harder to find frequent deals/sales on. Quote

Ah ok I see what you meant with the Pokemon cards. I guess that could work, but it would mean that stores would have to make room on shelves, at which point they are competing with other LEGO sets for shelf space. Quote

Don't necessarily take it as gospel just yet. Don't want there to be disappointment when it comes out that they meant "four marvel sets, three of which are GotG." Which is likely. Also, we'd definitely never get an all-bigfig CMF. We won't get bigfig CMFs anyway, the whole bit with bigfigs is to only ever put them in sets that are $50 or more, from what I've seen. At least post-Fantasy Castle era, I know there was an inexpensive troll wagon that had a big one. None of the superhero ones are going like that though, or the LotR. Or the Star Wars, unless I'm forgetting something. Quote

Well I wouldn't go so far as to say I am taking it as gospel, or getting super excited about it; it's just good news is all :) I'm not sure why you would think people would get disappointed - Zzz was clearly interested in the theme, took a close look, took time to tell us about it, answer questions about it and even ask a friend for anything he might has missed. That attention to detail seems above confusing 3 for 4. Quote

wesker Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 It'll be at SDCC, and the whole line will only be given away through small raffles at the convention, make sure that most consumers never get to see them. If there's any truth behind the SDCC/Toy Fair minifigures originally being part of a CMF series then most of them have already been given away. I'm dreading which fan favourites we're going to see this year. Quote

I'm dreading which fan favourites we're going to see this year. I was actually just joking, that if they "announced" it at SDCC it would just be a bunch of SDCC exclusives. Was poking fun at the fact that everything really good and unique is an exclusive there that nobody gets. I'm dreading this year too though, really sick of that nonsense. Quote
Ultron Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) That just seems way too complicated. We're talking about the possibility of a SH CMF line... There will have been 12 or 13 successful series before an SH one so they won't change the format and we won't get bigfigs. It would be amazing if we got the line at all. Well clearly. I don't think it'll happen. I was just explaining what he was thinking. And technically the way tins work wouldn't require a change in the format. They would still sell the individual packs alongside the tins. Tins are just be a bundle pack with their own exclusive card. CorneliusMurdock Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 This is starting to get a bit off-topic. I can't remember if there was one before but if not, someone can start a discussion on which characters could be big figs. Let's not make this a wishlist topic. Quote
hockeyboy89 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I don't get it either. I don't think they ever have (or ever will) made a statement as to their thoughts on how it's a benefit. It's not a benefit as much as a gift to those that attend. I have no problem with the exclusives. Quote

Hrafnblod Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) It's not a benefit as much as a gift to those that attend. I have no problem with the exclusives. The downside is they use it for really unique characters/variants that would probably go over really well in sets (Black-suit spidey, Green Lantern and Green Arrow come to mind), and the apparent exclusivity issues with the SDCC figs means we never get to see them in sets. It's a gift to those that attend, yeah, but it's also a bit of a slap in the face to their usual customers. Edited February 5, 2014 by Hrafnblod Quote
eldiano Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) So the Rock confirmed he is playing John Stewart/Green Lantern. This means for the MvsB or the Justice League movie lego sets will include this minifigure I hope, but even then I hope that rumored green lantern minifigure they plan to release soon is Hal Jordan! The worse that could happen is too shell out 900 bucks on the SDCC version then lol Edited February 5, 2014 by eldiano Quote

Remember both Azog and Classic Superman were Comic Con "exclusives" yet still appeared in retail sets with no alterations whatsoever. http://lego.wikia.co...perman_Giveaway http://lego.wikia.co...e_Azog_Giveaway Then there's the Nolan Trilogy Batman that was exclusive to the 2011 Comic Con. The only difference between that and the retail figure from the Tumbler set is the colour. The printing is identical and both figures are still based on the exact same costume. There's no reason why they couldn't release other SDCC minifigures with minor alterations. Quote

Colossus Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 The Rock as John Stewart Green Lantern?!? Wow. I would have gone with Michael Jai White for that role. He has the acting chops, the build, and the attitude to make GL Stewart the ring slinger for the big screen. Back on topic. I would hope that LEGO learns from the last fiasco ( the "random" exclusive minifig giveaway at SDCC), and scraps the idea entirely and offers the minifigs as a PREVIEW, maybe to create some positive buzz about the minifigs before they are released in sets to the general public. Quote
Robianco Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Well hopefully the Azog release will show the way to them for that. I've had to go custom to get my GL, GA, Black suit Superman, Shazam and Bizarro. I think the previews are definitely the way to go and even how you package them up (people still sell the Azog in the blister for a lot of £££s)... that means you can slip them into a set 6 months later and the appetite is whetted while still retaining a certain collectors value in the Comic Con packaging. They'll be so close to a full JLA roster that it just doesn't make sense to not have a GL in there.... whether he'll appear in a 2014 set is entirely up to the Lego gods. If the GL in SMvsB is indeed John Stewart then I just hope that Hal Jordan is given to us to put the whole SDCC exclusive thing to bed, especially as that figure is in the Lego Movie... and I happen to quite like the design of that mini figure. just2good Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 Its already been confirmed that we are getting Hal Jordan this year either in an upcoming super hero set or in a Lego Movie set It wasn't confirmed. It was rumored by Brick Fanatics, which are sometimes true and sometimes false with their info. Still, it's ran by LEGO ambassadors for the most part. Quote
Sam892 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Its already been confirmed that we are getting Hal Jordan this year either in an upcoming super hero set or in a Lego Movie set It hasn't been confirmed, it's only rumour at this point. And we now have two rumours contradicting each other, the original saying we will get lantern this year and another saying next year. Also with regards to the new black Batman variant on the March calendar, it's entirely possible that it's just a mistake with the colouring. It's not the first time it's happened before, on the back of the Batcave instructions the Dark blue Batman had a Dark Bley Torso and Legs when they are meant to be Light Bley. Quote
