korpen4444 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) As far as the sets go, aside from Joker's steamroller, all the builds either seem 'meh' or just must-avoid. I'll give you the figs though. Some are nice, mainly Damien and Babs. But red Nightwing? I'll think I'll stick with my original blue thanks. Will Batman always be popular as he is? I really doubt it. In time I think more and more people will get fed up with how often he appears. I mean, dare I say, he can get a bit boring at times. But compare DC, who showcase only Batman, and arguably Supes and now GA, with Marvel who showcase far more of their characters. Does anyone complain about how Iron Man is hogging the limelight? Spidey? No, because Marvel balances. And it shows with our responses with the sets. I personally am delighted we already have Nova, Iron Fist, Falcon and Cage and highly disappointed we don't even have a full JLA roster yet. Yeah I understand Nightwing. But the thing with DC, is that it is really a very serious environment. I used to be into Marvel, but honestly, it's turning into a comedy show with lot's of spin-offs. And before you talk about how DC is, Teen Titans GO! will not be counted as credible source for argument. And I think, Lego's honing in on the "more serious" crowd, by letting Batman be the Bumblebee and Optimus Prime of it's DC line. Still, like I said earlier, the more Batman sets get made, the more heroes made, But just as long as we get a JL only set. And some non-batman villains. edit: sorry for the double post. I hardly call any of the marvel movies comedies. They have a lot of comedic elements but don't represent the over-all tone. As for shows, Ultimate Spider-man does try and make everything way too comical though. And what spin-offs are you referring to? The movies or shows? I don't watch any of the animated shows so I wouldn't really know but Marvel is typically known for being funny and realistic. In my opinion, batman is way too serious to take seriously. Hence why even the lego movie is making fun of him for it. Edited February 10, 2014 by Luna Lovegood Quote

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN! And the movies have at least 25% comedy in them. But, super heroes should be serious, and Batman knows, it's a dangerous Comic-universe. Quote

I've seen a few of ultimate spider-man. It was okay I guess. It relied too much on slap stick humor though and I generally don't like that kind of comedy. I'm alright getting sets from it though, I'd just like to see more spider-man variants because I'm not overly fond of the current one they keep giving to us over and over. Quote

Of course they are going to be comedic!! What kid want to watch a cartoon of superheroes just fighting and insulting each other. Okay maybe Ultimate spiderman is too funny to be taken seriously and as long at set based on that release new minifigures, I don't care Quote

Young Justice, the DCAU, and Teen Titans are for kids, but they were serious shows. Quote
gedren_y Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 The problem with the USM cartoon is that it is supposed to be based on the Ultimate Spider-man comics, but it looses a lot of the moody feel of the comics. The show portrays the characters more like the Marvel Adventures comics, which is marketed at the same age group. These sets seem to be intended for that age group. The figs in the AIM Lab set seem to be pulled directly from the Marvel Adventures line. Quote
kevkipo Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Lets see what we will see Sunday! The Hobbit and GOTG for me! Quote

I like a lot of animation it's just this particular type isn't my favorite. I have nothing against them, I'd just prefer a bit of a more mature marvel animated show. Quote
Borex Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I cry myself sometimes to sleep realising that the majority of the people know about superheroes from cartoons and movies. And i know it's the reason why superheroes are popular, but still... Quote

Colossus Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Yay. Out of all the pics that could have been posted, we get yet another shot of the same Bat-sets, and it's not even a good one. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Let's leave discussion of the merits of various TV shows to other threads. Yay. TheSilentShane Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) However why is Killer Moth so high in your most wanted Batman rogues? I didn't list them in any particular order, just in order of which popped into my head first. I'd really like to see Clayface and Ra's most of all. But Killer Moth is awesome, regardless. He's been a long-running Batman villain and has a rather large cult following. Edit: OH SNAP. I'm loving the look of the GotG set, even if it is a small picture. Looks like it will be a three-minifig set with Starlord, Gamora, and Nebula/Yondu/Collector. Edited February 10, 2014 by TheSilentShane Quote
Super Goblin Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Good god, now I know these people are taking crappy pics on purpose. On the left you have sets we have already seen and on the right we have new sets and minifigs. What do they take a picture of? Of course the sets we have already seen. Quote
Ultron Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Sweet! But it looks like Starlord is holding a lantern with switches on it? And where all the marvel figs are set up who is the black figure with the black hood/hair next to thor? Also there's a fig with a blue head and a purple body 2 figures over in between modok and cyclops. Who is that? Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Is that a second genesis Cyclops?!? He seems to be more dark blue than black, even with the red belt! Really looking good, I look forward to more pictures... Quote
Moon_Knight Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 @korpen4444 You can count me out of the group that only cares for the minifigs. While I do enjoy the minifigs that are included, I would prefer owning a detailed, legit set. We all know what LEGO is capable of with the Arkham Asylum and Unexpected Journey sets. You have to admit that the Batcopter build is a little ridiculous. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I bet you that wasn't planned at all......well, we know now what one of the sets is called and basically what it looks like.......totally digging that blue and yellow spaceship. Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Any ideas who that is with the blue head and purple legs between MODOK and Cyclops? Quote

Freddy Bricker Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I can see Gamora piloting that ship, she looks great! Starlord doesn't, though, I'm sure his printing will be top-notch. And on regard to how Lego's handling this DC theme, I don't agree with it. Lego has a lot of potential for sets and minifigures that we all know they can pull off, we've seen them create great villainous hideouts, we've seen them design great looking and stylish vehicles, so there's no reason for filler like the Batplane. There's a reason I collect Lego, and it's because they fascinated me with their builds, heck, Lego's design and build techniques find ways to wonder me with almost every new set! So when they create a wave with 1 new villain, who we basically already had, repeat vehicles, and "fillers" like that Bat-sub and plane, then yes, I believe it's time for a wake up call. Lego as a company has presented us with plenty of great things in the past, the fact that this DC (and partially Marvel line, though that GotG set looks great) is an exception to Lego's talent, is a problem. And if it wasn't, we wouldn't be discussing it. I hardly call any of the marvel movies comedies. They have a lot of comedic elements but don't represent the over-all tone. As for shows, Ultimate Spider-man does try and make everything way too comical though. And what spin-offs are you referring to? The movies or shows? Hence why even the lego movie is making fun of him for it. I'm going to try to say this without sounding rude (forgive me if I do, I sometimes type things that don't exactly come out the way I wanted them too), but do you know much of the DC universe outside of Batman? He has layers, and isn't all what the cinematic universe shows him to be. The Killing Joke is the embodiment of that statement. And there's more to the DC universe than Batman. When you have StormWatch, the Demon Knights, the Justice League, Teen Titans, secret six, plenty of solo comics and more, then why use Batman as your prime example? There's a lot more to the DC universe than him. Quote
