GuntherThePenguin Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I was originally planning on get the Spider-copter set just for power-man, but its so atrocious and that Green Goblin fig is so hideous I just can't bring myself to waste money on it. However, both Avengers sets are fantastic! Quote
Hrafnblod Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 The only difference aside the two hulk's pants is that the purple hulk has thicker eye paint, make up lol. Anyone considered getting the Junior Spider man set? Easy spiderman and venom figs, and some great unique spiderman pieces that are not decaled!!! Also spiderman's legs have the red underwear and the traditional blue plants, I like it. I think the main detractor for the Spidey juniors set (from an afol perspective) is, from what I can remember, it's $20. You can already get Spidey and Venom in a $20 set, assuming you can still find it, plus Nick Fury and a pretty neat car build, on top of Venom's extremely handy back piece. Quote

No it's 12.99 at Lego Store, this might fetch 19.99 at Toys R Us though, but hell I prefer the vehicle in this set than the trike in the electro set!!! Here's a couple of pics from the Thor Escape set and the Doc Ock's I was halfway through the pictures until a review was posted on the set already... plus I guess no one likes the pics :P. Among this are the junior vehicle and full on Doc Ock set, I love the build on the truck and the windshield, I don't know much about bricks but I took pictures of rather peculiar pieces. I don't get lego's weapon policy, rather than give bad guys pistol's, rifle's with accurate designs, they give them tnt's, bombs or stuff to blow up, in other words it's ok to blow stuff up, more close to terrorist's action, a little way off topic, but Lego is confused. I think the big goofy dynamite is more cartoonish and so more acceptable than guns. But I don't really get it, either. They've given us molds for tommy guns and stuff (and Joker even used one in the batwing set, albeit with a flag on the end), but don't seem to like actually using them. They could at least give us some revolvers or something. That said, the Doc Ock set looks pretty neat, still don't think I'm gonna pick it up though since I have the previous Doc, a dozen spideys and lots of police officers. Also, my mistake on the price for the Jr. set. It's a bit better buy, in that case! Still think I'd just go a bit higher though for the bigger one, but I can see the argument if you aren't concerned with Venom's accessories and such. Edited February 12, 2014 by Hrafnblod Quote
SMC Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I am not loving the bank van but Doc Ock is great but is he £20 good cos I am not sure about the rest Quote
Borex Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Next up is the Hulk lab smash! This set is so fun to play with, and the figures are amazing. The build itself looks much better once you add stickers. The piece count is low for a $60 set, though. Yessss thank you! This is my most anticipated set from this wave. I'm gonna have so much fun with this!! Two things that are a pity though 1) taskmasters shield should be a shield like cap america 2) falcons hair what makes him indian. I thought falcon would look good when loosing the hair. But the guy has a doublesided face. Does anybody know about custom hair for colored lego folks? Quote
Suspsy Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Being a fan of the Ultimate Spiderman show I love the figures but hate sets. Why does Spiderman need vehicles? Lego is by no means the first toy company to give Spidey vehicles. Type "spider-man vehicles" into Google and you'll see that over the years he's had motorcycles, cars, helicopters, planes, and even boats. Why do these seemingly unnecessary vehicles exist? Because fans are willing to purchase them, that's why. Cynical, but true. Quote
DarthPotato Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Where are people finding that the Hulk Lab Smash set is $60? I was at my Lego store the other day and it was up and selling for $50, which I think it a pretty good price. Quote

No way, spider bike was awesome. There's nothing cynical, kids just find them fun, and there's nothing wrong with that. Quote
DarthPotato Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I paid $60 for it at mine. Really, at the Lego store? Darn, that sucks. It still looks like a great set though. Quote
Ondra Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I dont believe in UCS tumbler rumour. There are some facts and previous rumours that can easily make this rumour busted. If rumour about UCS mini cooper will turn true that I dont see plausible release of two big licensed UCS cars in one year because tumbler easily win this match.I also rather buy tumbler than Mini Cooper. But brickshow is youtube channel that Im giving credibility and If this turn false, they lost many fans for sure. This isnt some regular set that can be scraped before release, we are talking about licensed D2C set that are many years in development. just2good Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 Thanks for the video review of this set! Thanks just2good after seeing the big fig Spiderman set I don't think I will get it but this look must buy. Just2Good - Nice find man Welp, Hulk Lab Smash looks a -lot- better in the video review than the pictures. Thanks for putting the review together! Yessss thank you! Thanks for the support y'all! It means a lot! Really, at the Lego store? Darn, that sucks. It still looks like a great set though. Yeah, and it seems like it really is $50- that's what it's listed for on TRU.com. Woah, thank you 'eldiano' for all these pictures! I just reviewed the Doc Ock set, so here's the review and my share of pictures: Overall, I love the truck build of this set! But the best part is definitely Doc Ock. I wish the other two figures were better, though. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Now that I'm seeing that set not in box pics, the truck looks a bit disappointing to me. The proportions seem to be really out of whack - it's very high off the ground and crazy long. It looks kind of stretched out. Doc Ock is awesome, but with the truck being strange and the other two minifigures being undesirable, I'd call this one a pass. Quote
Ultron Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Thanks for the review! I quite like this set but as you said, some variants would've been nice. And idk if I missed it, but what is the point of the "locked hatch" compartment? I mean does anything special go in there or is it just a cool little feature? Quote

Ultron Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Yeah, I didn't touch on it, but there is no feature there. Just a sticker. Odd. Yeah that's weird. It stands out so much you'd think it'd have some importance. All well. I suppose you could fit some of the money or maybe the gem in there. Quote
legomtron Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 WOW! All this ,yet the last two DC sets are still nowhere to b seen . Quote
just2good Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 WOW! All this ,yet the last two DC sets are still nowhere to b seen . They're at the LEGO store, too! I got myself the Penguin set. I'll cover it once I'm done with Marvel. Quote
eldiano Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) I was going to DC, but no one likes pictures and there's like a couple of video reviews on both the DC sets!!! I just realized how bigger the shield on the Hydra's set of Captain America is than his avengers counterpart. Edited February 13, 2014 by eldiano Quote
TheBatstan Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 nice review Just2Good! Definetly going to pick up the Doc Ock set, the truck looks awesome, Ock looks amazing (comic version ftw), Ive never bought a Spidey set yet this'll be my first (and only) Spidey and that Guard has the Bruce Wayne face which I really need (after my dog got my other one) Quote
just2good Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) nice review Just2Good! Thanks man! Okay, here's the Spider-Trike review! Electro really makes this set good. His "vehicle" is pretty nice, but I love the minifigure. Otherwise, the Spider-Man part of this set blows. I don't like the look of it, and there's really no interesting parts to that build. Edited February 13, 2014 by just2good Quote
Darth Lurtz Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 It feels very redundant that we have both the trike and the Juniors set at the same time. Won't more people want Electro since he's new? Quote

Won't more people want Electro since he's new? You've gotta remember they aren't for the same market, in Lego's view. The Juniors set is for younger kids than regular System sets. Kids young enough and new to Lego that Venom will still be new to them. Edited February 13, 2014 by Hrafnblod Quote
Colossus Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) MODOK does come with a Chair you can see it on the box. Oh, good! Couldn't see that from the pic on my phone. Thanks, Sam I really like the detail of the printing on Doc Ock's back! That's a cool touch. Edited February 13, 2014 by Colossus Quote
