Green Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 GOTG sets are looking great.. hope we get a pic of the rest of the team soom. Does anyone know if the new Marvel sets are available in Australia yet? Quote
jonwil Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I haven't seen the Marvel stuff in Oz yet unless you want the Jr Spider-Man set (which I did see in a Target the other day) Personally I am hoping the AIM Lab set is better value than the Hellicarrier set was. Quote
Piranha Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 That set looks great, will have to pick it up for sure. I am guessing we will be seeing the other two sets this weekend. Unless they are kept top secret. Quote

At least it comes with more exclusive figs than the Helicarrier, even if you guys in Australia get screwed again on the price. Quote

Moon_Knight Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 @legofreak88 If you want to get more technical then you forgot to mention that it's Juan Bautista's first time being a minifig, same for Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel. The question is though: Would it be Paul Bettany's first time if we get a Vision minifig for Avengers 2? We did get the Malibu Mansion with some computer tech so it somewhat includes Jarvis. As for the Guardians of the Galaxy's Milano, it looks fantastic! I'm anticipating these sets the most for this year. If this movie is as good as the set looks, then Marvel Studios has phase II in the bag. I believe in James Gunn. Quote
Brickforia Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Is the GotG ship originally a Nova Corps ship? Quote
legofreak86 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Good point moon_knight! A lot of first times for actors/voice actor/motion capture, figure representation this year especially with a lot of other franchises with actors making first and second and even third appearances. Quote
Rinzler Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Also the first time Zoe Saldana who recently played Lieutenant Ohura in star trek into darkness, has been represented in Lego as she plays gamora in the film. Technically though, i'ts the second time Saldana has been put into bricks, remember the Kre-O Star Trek sets, so Gamora will be the second Zoe Saldana I own Quote
Legoman123 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I really love that GOTG set! I can't wait to see the rest at NYTF tomorrow. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Gamora looks amazing. I have high hopes that Yondu gets his fin and that Nebula ends up being the blue figure seen rotating on the figures display at New York Toy Fair. If that is the case then Marvel will have released 3 female figures this year: Mary Jane Watson, Storm, Gamora, and Nebula. Of course I'd expect them to release 2 females for GotG considering there are at least 3 major female characters in the movie. This is all hypothetical right now of course. Quote
Rinzler Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Anybody else notice the Aquaman cameo in The Lego Movie? Quote
Faefrost Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 That set has me more pumped for Guardians than anything! Looks like the film will be VERY visually interesting. Plus, from the word above about them possibly winding up on the planet from Planet Hulk, it makes me anxious for the possibility of a Hulk movie with Mark Ruffalo. Star Lord looks super cool, and that torso could be used for some nice purist figures I believe. I'm really hoping that they make a similar hairpiece to what's sticking out on the top for Star Lord when he's not wearing the helmet. I think I'm going to be leaning more towards the helmetless version, though it does look good. I'm impressed by Ronan especially, since the other pictures made him look plain and black. This has nice detailing, new molds, a very interesting head print, plus a badass little ship. Gamora's hair will make for some nice use on other minifigures (LEGO Hot Topic? ), but Drax has me worried. He looks very pale. Much moreso than his film counterpart. Is this a case of bad printing/concept or has Drax not been eating? I think the way Star Lord works in minifig form is he has a double sided face. His head piece has his hair and his open faced helmet (which looks kinda like those old wrestling helmets). So it frames his face but leaves his hair and face open. His two faces will be one with the mask in place and one without showing his bare face. Quote
Ondra Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 That is interesting because at 2:26 in the background of this clip a Tumbler can be seen. However it just might be 7888. I think we found that UCS tumbler . ..This "making of looks" looks like, that isnt asociated with lego so producers are not beware of leaks.IIRC metalbeard ship set also leak by this document. This tumbler is too big to be 7888 because 7888 is minifig friendly and minifig are relative small.Back of 7888 is also different http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/LtHKZtn8uU8/hqdefault.jpg from that video tumbler. Also this can be only my opinion but I can see new technic panels that provide flaps on tumbler from video. These never existed in 2008. I doubt it would have the Iron Man hinge thing? So when are we likely to see the rest of the Guardians? It seems weird that we'd only see those three and not the most visually interesting and impendingly popular ones, Rocket Raccoon and Groot. Quote

It was probably more a matter of revealing the biggest, most impressive set first. We might see them at the NY toy fair, though. Quote

Given this is a "Making Of" video, maybe it's just a prototype of a Batmobile design for the movie, before they decided on the megabadass Battank I wish we would've gotten in a set despite the price? Kerberos Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) A bunch of pics of GotG toys have cropped up. Earlier in this thread someone described the 3 Lego sets as two being ships and one being a lava playset. http://f.cl.ly/items...Display-067.jpg http://f.cl.ly/items...Display-070.jpg So the question is whether 'Rocket Racoon's Warbird' or 'Nova Corps Starblaster' is the cheaper ship. Also, huge disappointment at the Sakaaran soldier [he's not a bug] http://f.cl.ly/items...Display-068.jpg http://i.imgur.com/vc5vKbo.jpg Edited February 16, 2014 by Kerberos Quote

They probably just mistook the USM sets for being ASM (same villains after all). But I really wish it were ASM instead, but I'm sure that's a pretty common wish... Quote

Also, they said there's five sets sans GotG, but there's really six. Oh, and here's my stuff on the Penguin set! I heard it's showing up in US Walmarts. Overall, I really like this set! The Batman vehicle ain't2bad and the Penguin vehicle is adorable. There's also LOTS of rare pieces in the set! Edited February 16, 2014 by just2good Quote

Yup, just found the Penguin and Steamroller sets at my Wal-mart, finally. Also the Spider-man sets, but not the Avengers Assembles sets just yet. Batman and Spidey are probably starting to be pretty widely available stateside though because my area Wal-marts are pretty horrible about stocking things in a timely manner. If it shows up there it's gotta be everywhere. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 There's also LOTS of rare pieces in the set! Besides for the black 'horse hitching' piece (which has actually come in ten sets), the yellow 2x3 pieces you mentioned (which has been in 3 other sets), and the orange clips (4 other sets), I don't see much rare stuff. I guess for a small set that's pretty good, though. You just might want to fact check when you claim how rare things are. (In the Captain America review you accidentally said that the bike is the same color as Wolverine's but a different mould, but that was probably just a flub up.)I'm glad the press release mentions the X-Men set and all of the GotG sets. We're guaranteed to see them tomorrow at last! I can't wait to finally see the X-Jet in its full glory (or perhaps non-glory, depending on how it turns out). Quote

The place where the Tumbler is shown in the clip is not associated with WB studios, that is the LEGO Design Center in Denmark. It has been shown before and is part of where LEGO sets are designed. I am now leaning heavily that is the rumored UCS Tumbler. In addition there were no movie 'props' the film was all CGI. Quote
Colossus Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Marvel.com just posted an HD pic of The Lego GotG set, The Milano. Looks the same as the box art that was already revealed minus the background. I was kinda hoping to see something new... (sob). Quote
