Captain Nemo Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) Ooooo! Just noticed that Storm has leg printing! Suddenly like the figure more! Edited February 16, 2014 by Captain Nemo Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Classic Cyclops! Classic Storm! Brown costume Wolverine! Brilliant Blackbird! Sentinel! And Magneto. All in one set! Never would I have believed we would get a more or less Chris Claremont inspired set. And you can just about make out Rocket Racoon and Nebula in the Larva set in the background of one of the pics. Just make the rest of the second genesis X-Men team, the FF, Thanos and some classic Avengers and I'll die happy. Quote
TheBatstan Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) Wow, I need to get that set now. The Blackbird (with some colour changes to black) looks amazing, Storm looks awesome and so does Cyclops, Magneto and finally a cowled Wolverine! The Sentinel looks better than the prelims but it could use some work, but I like the way they made his hands Edited February 16, 2014 by TDKR2012 Quote
The Jersey Brick Guy Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 All sets are a must buy. Quote
Suspsy Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Groot is capable of increasing his size by absorbing wood, so the figure's stature is more than fine by me. I'll definitely be getting the set for him, RR, and Nebula. About time Marvel gave us a villainess minifigure! The new Wolverine and Storm minifigures are tempting, but Magneto and the Sentinel are a disappointment. Also, I really hate Cyclops as a character, so I have no desire to own any representation of him. Quote
Moon_Knight Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) Looks like Rocket Raccoon is a minifig with the stubby legs. I was hoping for a new mold like Gollum but I'll take what I can get. Edited February 16, 2014 by Moon_Knight Quote
Ultron Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Really hate the blackbird...but Storm is a must for me. Groot is way too big! He won't fit in the milano! He'll have to ride on top Hopefully someone comes up with a nice brickbuilt small version. Rocket Raccoon is nice from what I can tell. It seems he has gray fur instead of brown like in the video game. And the vehicle he's driving looks like a snail! Quote
Borex Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I'm not so superkeen on the new x-men set. Though i like Magneto and Cyclops in it, i'm just not sure of ororo's hair. Had it its tiara, it would be amazing. Also the cowled Wolvie, hmmm i don't know. It's a pretty thick cowl. I don't like the hands on the Sentinel too. The build of the vehicle is ok imho. Quote
benjiv1 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 For those wondering here is a list of the 2008 Guardians of the Galaxy: In the movie: Star Lord Drax Rocket Raccoon Gamora Groot Excluded: Adam Warlock (who is pivotal to the GOG story in the comics) Quasar Mantis Major Victory (very important to the GOG story as well in the comics) Bug Jack Flag Moon Dragon Cosmo the Dog The exclusion of Adam Warlock basically means that the movie will be completely original, which I think is fine, considering how complicated the GOG comics are. For those that haven't read them the best way to describe them would be Star Trek meets Terminator. I don't have any issues with the size of Groot. He's at his most badass when he is massive. Chances are it's reflective to the scene in the movie. Quote
Cammo Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) I love the X-Men set. I was sad on missing the one with Deadpool but the new set looks more like my cup of tea. X-Men & The Ghostbuster set are the highlights for me. Really glad that Wolverine has his normal hair and mask included. http://news.toyark.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2014/02/Toy-Fair-2014-LEGO-Marvel-018.jpg Edited February 16, 2014 by Cammo Quote
gedren_y Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Major Victory (who wasn't officially called this until issue 20) is part of the aborted 31st century timeline. In the current Marvel universe, Vance Astrovik did not make his deep space voyage in suspended animation that lasted for a thousand years. He became a hero on earth thanks to that other future self. I don't know how Yondu fits into the current GOTG as he began as a primitive alien warrior who met Astronaut Astrovik. They then joined the space adventurers that would become the rest of the GOTG. Charlie 27 was the original leader. If Lego would make the robe from the CMF Judge and Graduate in dark blue, a purist Major Victory custom could be built. As I don't really want many of the Superheros figs for the characters themselves, I will refrain from commenting on how they are portrayed in the sets, good or bad. I see lots of things here I want for parts. Quote

He didn't turn up in GotG until the second volume - granted, for a good 20 issues or so - but hasn't appeared much after that either. Quote
Cammo Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) Looks like Groot uses the same build as The Sentinel. Small joints and that (new?) chest piece. And here you can see that Magneto & Wolverine will have the hairpiece included as well: http://news.toyark.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2014/02/Toy-Fair-2014-LEGO-Marvel-025.jpg Seems like Magneto uses the Joker's hairstyle. Hulk_Smash Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Well seeing the X jet properly I actually like it, but i'm still not sold on the Sentinel. Quote
Ojik Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Glad to finally see some pictures, but I must say I'm not completely sold on these GOTG sets. Groot is too big and I hate to see at least three colours on him - beside the regular brown, he's got what appears to be black arms and light bley joints. He looks like mecha Ent. X-jet is not bad, I'm surprised it's blue and not black and I quite like the Sentinel. Does anyone know what the price is? It better not be 50 dollars for 336 parts and 4 minifigs! Quote
Clone OPatra Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Both the builds in the X-Men set look pretty crappy to me. The jet is just a long blue thing, and then sentinal is a nice little laugh, though a purple laugh, and I like purple. At least the jet is thick so there is potentially room for figures in there, as somebody pointed out. Perhaps these builds will grow on me, since I surely have to get the set to acquire what little X-Men LEGO gives us. Storm certainly looks fantastic, and Cyclops looks ok (I think he'll look better with hair). I prefer the Wolverine and Magneto costumes that came in the first X-Men set, but these will be nice additions anyways. Quote
legofreak86 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Magneto seems to have a new head with rather than his smile from 2012 on his face he has a determined expression and the face appears to be more based on the features of Ian Mckellen. If I'm not mistaken! It looks less cartoonish and more like an actual actor's face. Quote
strangely Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I'm impressed with the X-men set. Granted Storm was different than I expected and Cyclops looks actually a bit plain to me. The jet is pretty awesome, Marvel always manages to deliver on vehicles. The Sentinel I actually really like. I will agree it could have been scaled differently, but as it is it actually looks pretty good. Storm's cape is interesting, it seems to be softer fabric and connects to her hands. Quote
SMC Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Storm looks great, jet looks ok but we need so many x men to get 2 repeats is a bit sad. Quote
Legoman123 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Storm looks great, jet looks ok but we need so many x men to get 2 repeats is a bit sad. I think we will see an exclusive X-Men set. Hopefully X-Mansion, but I don't mind if it's a smaller set. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 The sign for the X-Men set at Toy Fair does say X-Men 1. Might that mean there is an X-Men… 2? That's probably reading too much into it, but one can always hope. Quote

SMC Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I think a second would be good but if so they could have splits up the repeat figs Quote
