Swifty118247 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I just popped into Smyths Toys in Liverpool and picked up Hulk Lab Smash and Hydra Tank sets. I called the Lego store as I prefer to get it there if it's full price but they don't have a date for them coming in so I went for Smyths. Not had a chance to build yet but the figures are sublime. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! I went in to Liverpool yesterday and the one place I didn't check smyths (mainly because I don't know where it it). GRRR!!! Anyway hopefully I'll pop into Toys'r'us today and pick up the hydra tank. And out of interest how do you rate the sets?? Quote
gedren_y Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Does this story come before the destruction of Xandar or after? If it comes before, the Nova Corps are the official peacekeepers, and the GOTG are a renegade force. I'm not familiar with the current version, but the original team were considered renegades before they proved themselves a force for good. It is a good that this team has to prove themselves good guys as well. The Sakaarans and Ronan the Accuser are the actual villains. Quote
Ashnflash Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Is it just me or this going to be a full out comedy movie. Marvel never shows any jokes in the first trailer! Movies like this make me lose interest in any DC movies Quote
The-Daryl Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 That trailer made my wife say "Well, maybe we should see it in the theater". (As opposed to earlier reports of "You can watch it when it's available to rent" ;) ) Funny you guys are talking about Lab Smash and Hydra Tank half a world away; I just picked those two up myself last night. Drove all over town to find them! Built the lab, I think Just2good did one of those video reviews, so not much to say - if it looks good to you (like it did to me) you aren't going to be disappointed. I was super happy to have a Falcon! Looking forward to the Hydra Tank tomorrow. (Have to save a few to get from LEGO shop @ home next month for my Martian Manhunter!). Quote

But that could be just because Brian Michael Bendis is writing... But back on topic, I'm pleasantly surprised that the Milano looks extremely screen accurate (taking into account the disaster that was the Iron Man 3 wave in terms of screen accuracy). Quote

Rinzler Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 are you forgetting Chris Pratts other movie this year already?!? I said may, I said may. It MAY be the best movie this year, The Lego Movie is pure awesomeness but GOTG will be completely unpredictable and that may give it the edge over others Quote
Robianco Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Hulk set was £49... Hydra Tank was £19. I quite like the sets... I was always going to get the Hydra Tank as I've loved Captain America as a kid and I actually quite like the design... Hydra agent is cool although my Christo custom is my preferred Red Skull... this one is good though. I've actually not really had a chance to look at the lab set properly but if I based each fig at around £6 or so then £12-£15 for Hulk on the secondary market then the lab itself only cost me just under £15 which makes it well worth it. The Falcon fig is really nice... as is all of them really... I just wish there was a helmet for Thor but that's been discussed ad infinitum. Smyths is actually in Speke Retail Park just in case anyone is wondering. Quote
rosalind14 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Think I'll wait for it to hit the Lego store and then I can get the MM fig too Quote

Its stupid how lego charge $20 for a set then £20 for the same set when (with exchange rate) only should cost about £12!! But I'm going to america this year and therfore might wait and then get them all there Quote
SMC Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Thanks I was asking for the price of hulk set as if its the same price in US I might pick it up when I am over there. Will I have any problems getting it back with customs, never mind very off topic even if it is a 2014 Super Heroes set Im talking about Quote

SMC Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 ^ Thanks I am now thinking maybe the Simpsons house as it will be harder to get on sale back on topic its odd we have seen a the other two gotg sets but not the small one Quote
legofreak86 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 SMC: I once bought $250 worth of lego sets in downtown Disney and on the way home put them all in suitcases and had no problems whatsoever! Quote
Robianco Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I think as long as you're not taking 30 of each set home you'll be fine... Personal consumption and all that! Quote
CustomJoe_MD Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 And If I were you(SMC) I'd look into that whole sales taxes return thing, since I think you can fill a form once you return to have the amount you paid as sales tax returned to you (haven't flyed in a long while so I'm hazy on the details). Look into it. Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 That trailer felt a little too heavy on the jokes, really. That "What a bunch of a-holes" line kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. I watched it again today, and I'm still quite into it, but I'm less confident that it will be the success I want it to be. Also POSSIBLE SPOILER: Rumor has it that Nova could make an appearance. I'm aware the Nova Corps are featured, but the Nova from Ultimate Spider-Man's origin involves the death of a character that is very well alive in the movie. Maybe we might see a new Nova figure in the future. Also, I'm a little disappointed that we didn't hear Rocket speak. I'm really curious as to how he'll sound. Seeing him in the flesh makes me a little hesitant about Bradley Cooper. Quote
Fives Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) That trailer was awesome! I have a very good feeling about this movie, and can't wait to see it! It seems like LEGO has done a perfect job with their set and fig choices. They've gotten good at managing all the various IPs they now own thanks to Disney, and are especially clever at given the fans the essentials that they want without focusing too heavily on one movie or franchise. Three sets is perfect because it easily gives us all the important characters, and probably highlights all the most important scenes as well. I just cannot wait to get my hands on a Nebula fig. SOOOO EPIC!!! Also, I thought I'd mention that I found a blurry close up pic of the Milano box fig line up. It showed Quill with a hairpiece (I couldn't tell if it was new or not) and two guns that looked like they could be new molds. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the picture again, but if anyone else knows what I'm talking about, please link it here. Edited February 19, 2014 by Fives Quote
Bricktimus Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I CANNOT wait for GotG! Also the sets look great too! I'm thinking that I'm going to get the Milano and knowhere sets just so I can get the whole family :) Quote
Fives Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I found the image of the Milano Spaceship Rescue minifig line up. Its rather blurry, but you can discern a decent amount from it. http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140217220001/lego/images/a/a3/76021_Minifigs.png From what I can see, Quill's hair is new, as well as his guns. Actually, it kinda looks like everyone has new weapons except Ronan, although Drax's blades look like old molds. Overall I think Quill, Gamora and Ronan are the stand-out figs of the set, due to their new molds and weapons. Its a shame we didn't get better pics of the other sets from the fair as well. Quote
strangely Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 From what I can see, Quill's hair is new, as well as his guns. I don't know about that. It looks like the Mutt Williams hairpiece to me, just in a new color. Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I don't know about that. It looks like the Mutt Williams hairpiece to me, just in a new color. It looks vaguely like the hipster coffee guy hair from the Lego Movie. I think it's either that, the ruffled hair you mentioned, or a new mold that somehow looks nothing like the helmet's hair. Quote
Moon_Knight Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Sadly, I think it's the Mutt Williams hair mold. I would've preferred the CMF sleepyhead hair mold for Star-Lord. Quote

Luckily enough, Lego minifigures are fully customizable! Just remove one hair piece and replace it with another! (I don't mean to sound insulting, it's been a rough night) I've had to change the hair on a few figs to suit my tastes. I gave Robin the Mutt hair in black, and I've been trying to find a more accurate hair piece for Nightwing so I can use that on Red Robin. The piece with the headphones built in would work great if it weren't for the headphones.
