Well a lot of fans have complained before when characters have appeared without unique elements from their respected movies/comics. It appears Lego is trying to replicate what appears in the movies to the best of their ability. I mean the complaints about the use of the ADU gun are astronomical! By producing unique movie accurate accessories for the hobbit, lone ranger GOTG and MOS etc.. They are being more accurate to the movies and pleasing their fans. I'm very glad star lord is getting his own gun mold! I was one of those annoyed when we only got 3 chitauri and no proper weapons like the movie for them. Heck if they had made THOR 2 sets we would most likely have dark elf guns and asgardian armour/helmets plus new moulds for Malekith's helmet/hair and heimdall's sword/armour. Same with cap 2 we might've got modern pistols and maybe even WS'S bomb launcher thing. I hope avengers 2 has some good sets and if they appear in the movie new moulds.

There was some discussion about Gamora's sword. Could it be this?

It could be, but the handle looks nothing like that in the movie. Plus, her sword doesn't have as much of a curve in it.

LEGO has made slim-use accessories for Licenses before. Look at the guns and armor/helmet pieces for Man of Steel. Not that I mind having a cool gun, but I don't think those were even necessary (I mean just the guns, the armor was necessary, but I don't think we'll see it again). They also made the new guns for Lone Ranger that they then did not use for the LEGO movie, so it's possible that we might not even see that mould used again in another theme (it was very un-LEGO-ish anyway).

I wouldn't be surprised if the GotG characters get new, special weapons that really suit them, even when an existing piece could be used.

I don't know about the Zod armor here, as that helmet is the perfect go-to for a Firefly fig. It seems a little odd that LEGO would go out of their way to make new pistol molds and only use them in one theme, especially such generic pistols. It's not like the guns from Man of Steel, which are so specific that they will most likely never be used again. I do hope that we get one or two new weapons pieces out of the Guardians, though. That stuff could use a teensy bit of added variety.

Yeah those MoS guns always struck me as a poor use of tooling budget. The Helmets were perfect, and were needed. But honestly for the guns they could have made do with the AQ ones (which are astonishingly versatile for all the complaining.)

I hope they do some brick built weapons for GotG. Stuff like Rockets heavier weapons.

I suspect that the pricing for tooling for minifig handheld accessories has come down quite a bit in the past 2-3 years. Those are much less precise molds which typically only have one or two contact points, and are really on the far fringes of "system". Things like guns probably benefit a lot from rapid 3d prototyping. They just design the mold around the known handle piece.

It looks like the regular katana piece in grey to me. It might look a little disfigured in the picture though since it's facing forward.

That's what i said!

A local independent toy store in Scarborough, England had all of the new Spider-Man sets, however I am unable to purchase any as I am strapped for cash :classic:

Popped into the Lego Store in Liverpool yesterday and the Juniors sets are in... I think the Spiderman sets were there too... I'll wait until March to get those to make sure Martian Manhunter goes in the bag!

I must admit £35 for the Juniors Batcave seemed a little steep... I think I might just BL the figures.

I was at my local lego store yesterday and saw the avengers assemble and spiderman ( I live in us) sets minus hulk lab smash (there was a spot with no sets in it so I'm guessing they just ran out fast).

I didn't have much on me so I could only get Spider-Trike vs. Electro.

I personally thought that the arm shooting electricity shouldn't look the same as the one holding a jem so I swapped it out for jek 14's arm.

Juniors Batcave must be £30 max right?

For some reason I've got £35 in my head. I may have been mistaken though! Fingers crossed on that one.

I'll have another look tomorrow as I'm down there again.

Actually Argos is selling it at £29.99... Must have been my mistake!

Can anyone who has bought Riddler's Steam Roller recommend it as a set? I like the look of the steamroller but the Batwing I'm not sure about. £50 is a lot. I'm not convinced on the actual build of the Juniors Batcave set as something even my daughter would enjoy although I really like the look of the 60s Batman.

BLing the figures comes to around £30 which means import duty from the States so it'll come to around £40 anyway... £10 for the Roller and Batwing kind of makes it a no brainer.

The Spidercopter seems a worse way to drop that kind of money.

This is for the MM figure by the way.

Thoughts?

Riddler's got a Steam Roller too? They must be popular!

I'm sure it's worth it, though. I plan to get it next month. I like the Batplane. It doesn't look too bad. But you can always look at Lego.com reviews for the set. It has a 5-star rating last I checked.

Do we know if the Martian Manhunter minifig offer from the LEGO store is coming to the UK for March yet?? Am holding out before moving on any Superhero sets until then hoping so.....

Looks like LEGO did a great job recreating the Milano.

A member of FBTB found a better image of the Green Lantern light.

*snip*

If this is a figure we'll be getting, the mask looks sort of funny, but I'd take it anyway....

Wow ! do you think this means a green lantern figure? Hope so :sweet: . Edited by CorneliusMurdock

I can certainly recommend the set, I must admit that the Batwing is weird but the build was solid and fun throughout, the steam roller imo is perhaps the best vehicle TLG has released for the super heroes line to date, not to mention the fact that the steam roller set comes with 4/5 unique mini figures. The Riddler set is also pretty cool with three exclusive mini figures however the steam roller is the better buy (especially if you can get VIP points and an exclusive Martian man hunter mini figure) :classic:

He could get both. I know I am. He could get both and get the MM figure.
