That picture was just taken from someone or other's Toy Fair pictures, as you can see the physical Storm out of focus on the bottom of the picture. Huw at Brickset has done a good job cropping it though; almost looks like an official image of the boxart.

X-Men vs. The Sentinal is a clunky title, and I wonder if it will change. It's more like "X-Men vs. A Sentinal and also Magneto."

Yup.

I wish Storm came with an alternate mohawk piece. Since Wolverine and Magneto both have alt headgear.

I think they would've had to make a new mohawk mold to do that. The current mohawk wouldn't fit well with her, even in white.

They could've just given her a tiara but no...

Actually, in the comic that this set is based on that version of Magneto is with the X-Men. The posing of Magneto fighting the X-Men must come from someone not familiar with the story. The sentinals went after all mutants, without distinction.

Also, Storm isn't wearing her tiara, nor does she have a mohawk. Try to be aware of where and when in the Marvel prime universe the sets are supposed to be. This is directly from the Days of Future Past comic, since TLG did not have the license to produce DOFP movie sets.

I find it terribly disappointing how, out of all the many, many X-Men enemies that exist, TLG chose to go with Magneto again. And put him in an ugly outfit to boot.

The set seems more based off of Uncanny X-men 202 than anything in DOFP. 202 is coincidentally the first comic I ever read. Years ago I drew a picture of the iconic image because I'm fond of the memories I have of it. You can see it here if you like. http://blksuperman2.deviantart.com/art/Uncanny-X-men-202-44123781

Also, I realize that Cyclops wasn't in that story but he's dead in DOFP along w/ Magneto so who knows.

Unless you're referring to comics... Magneto's not exactly dead in Days of Future Past.

Either way, the whole discussion over what the set's based off of ended a while back. I think it's safe to say that LEGO isn't basing the set off of any one specific comic.

Today I've received my latest order, including the new Marvel sets (which are all great btw) Interestingly, my copy of 76016 included three (!) sticker sheets  I've heard of a lot of people who sometimes got two (I think that occurred to me once as well), but this is just ridiculous (-ly awesome  )

So, back to my question. Why can't they use the standard mohawk for Storm?

So, back to my question. Why can't they use the standard mohawk for Storm?

I just don't think it would look right. And I don't think kids would be too fond of her mohawk hairstyle either. Plus she could only have a one sided head if you gave her a mohawk.

They might later for the current look of Storm, but for the purposes of making an indirect tie-in to the upcoming movie they used the comic Days of Future Past Storm from The Uncanny X-Men #142.

I happen to like that version of Storm. If I get the set, she and Wolverine are two of the few Superheroes figures I would keep as is.

First why would kids give a damn? Second most boys aren't going to play with her anyways.

First that's incredibly sexist. :sceptic:

Second, Storm with a Mohawk? Hell no.

Not really. It might be a bit harsh, but it is true that most little boys don't like to play with girl action figures, if only because of peer pressure. I was never that way, myself, and I know that plenty other people here weren't either, but it's the sad truth. (Some would argue that it is on the way out though, which I hope so.) I'm just glad that LEGO is releasing more women in this theme and others, like Storm and Batgirl. Ultra Agents and Monster Fighters have also have good diversity for original themes.

Saying that kids won't care what Storm looks like is also something I would disagree with though. The mohawk makes quite an impression, and can be a big turn off for people who find it "weird." With shelves full of toys yelling "buy me!" the first impression can be everything.

Second, Storm with a Mohawk? Hell no.

That I do agree with though. I don't care for that look much. :innocent: But considering how many others do seem to want it, maybe it will be an SDCC exclusive one day?

Um...sorry for suggesting it. :look:

The only thing she likes more than talking about her useless power, is finding a situation where it is marginally useful. ;)

The mohawk look is the only way I can tolerate her.

Second, people won't play with Storm. Not because she's female, but because she's boring.

She's controls the powers of the freaking weather! That's badass.

When I was little, I came up with a hero who was Storm and Flash combined. Loads of awesomesauce!

Gender diversity has been great with the Superheroes line. Its a shame Star Wars has taken a step backwards this year with only two female characters in the line up and only one of which is new. :sceptic:

As for Storm I've never really cared for the mohawk look much. I always liked the long hair better. If we ever get another variant I prefer the white uniform from the 90s cartoon over the mohawk.

I'm loving that X-Men set. Instant buy for me, certainly. My only complaint is that Storm doesn't have her tiara, but it's not a deal breaker by any means, though Cyclops does look a little awkward without any hair. Easy fix, I suppose. Also, that Sentinel must be one of the first Lego mechs to have knee joints, unless I'm missing something. That alone is worthy of some praise.

And I too welcome gender diversity with the Superhero range. So far the only female hero I have is Wonder Woman, so Storm, no matter what variation, is welcome in my book.

I'm not a fan of mohawks period, so yeah Storm with a Mohawk would put me off.

I like messing around with all my figures, females included, so I wouldn't know.

As for the SDCC suggestion:

No problem with gender diversity. I hope we get The Danvers Captain Marvel sooner than later, and as I said before, Stephanie Brown is one of my favorite characters.

I'm not saying Storm shouldn't have been made. She's a popular character (though I still don't know why), and the mohawk is one of her most popular looks (certainly my favorite).

So, um...anyone want to talk about something else involving LEGO Superheroes besides whether boys will play with female figs or not and whether or not Storm needs a Mohawk?

Like, maybe some random LEGO Superheroes official videos on YouTube?

Just some random videos of LEGO Superheroes goofing off. Nothing too special.

Oh, and here's a TV commercial featuring Batman and the Flash:
