B-Lister Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 It's part of the Arrowverse. 'Nuff said. Lol. Ok, but I still have optimism. Quote
Colossus Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Not necessarily. Some are undoubtedly connected to MM, but some, at least in my guess, are due to the fact that sets just came out. Aw man, burst my bubble! Not really, the MM promo covered all sets so people didn't have to buy superheroes stuff. If fact I'm guessing a large number of mms were dispatched with the sea cow and other exclusive sets. The physical brand stores may be operating differently but online covered all themes. That's most likely the reason why it went out of stock faster than previous years, Jor el and Hulk were exclusive to Superhero purchases. Et tu, korpen? The big problem is too much came out at once. As much sense as that makes. Oh well, this is probably true. Quote
agoodfella77 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) http://i.imgur.com/sx3P01X.jpg Better look at the Flash costume. I'm loving the lightning bolts on the side of the head. This is absolutely awful folks. Why do the film versions try to do this "darker toned" costume (e.g. Man of Steel)? Can't they stick with the original as much as possible? B-Lister Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) Again, it might have to do with effects shots. A Chroma Key or Green Screen needs to be bright, so it may be easier to use a contrasting color in effects shots in order to easily insert the effects. I don't know how many of you understand the filmmaking process but I am familiar with production techniques, and editing. I also know the Superman costume in the Reeve films caused that very problem during production. Hence the progressively darker looks for the Man of Steel. Edited March 12, 2014 by B-Lister Quote

With all due respect, are you saying that with today's film technology they can't do a bright red suit? Of course they can. This is more aesthetics rather than a technical issue. Quote
B-Lister Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I am not saying they can't, but I am saying it may add unnecessary cost to the budget to color correct frame by frame what is a minor nitpicky detail. The suit's red. It's certainly no darker than Wally's Flash outfit. I don't see what the big deal is, except as an exercise in 'you can't please everybody'. Quote

B-Lister Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 And I explained a possible reason why. And Wally's outfit is portrayed darker than those you posted. Look at any of the merchandise. I have three action figures of Wally that are as dark as the Grant Gustin suit. Quote
Borex Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 They alter those costumes to make them more adult and 'realistic' and i feel that designers often want to leave their mark\their vision on the costumes. Most of the times it doesnt work out for me because i read comics and i like those costumes. That's why i'm so glad that they gave us comicbased marvel superheroes. Quote
Sam892 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 People are forgetting that this is Barry's FIRST suit that he uses. From episode 8&9 of Arrow we know that Barry admires Green arrow a lot, so it makes sense that his outfit will resemble Arrows. The suit will evolve and change through out the series as Arrows did, so I'm guessing it will eventually be a lighter red with gold/yellow. Plus we haven't actually scene the suit on TV or in motion so we can't really conclude an awful lot about it. Quote
JaseTJ Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Why do the film versions try to do this "darker toned" costume? Maybe because people don't like bright colors as much. I mean, I don't know about you, but if I suddenly found out I had, say, super speed... I wouldn't throw together a bright red suit. as it is, I'm really curious as to where he gets the suit (maybe asks Ollie for help?) 'Cause there's no way he has the sort of budget for something like this unless it's home-made like Spidey's. Which in ASM was pretty 'frickin impressive. He must have been a pro cosplayer :P Time will tell. Meanwhile, the moment they have a proper Arrow/Flash crossover, somebody better make a proper Cuusoo project. Quote

Repeter Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Yeah, cartoony colors work...in cartoons (and LEGO form!!). In movies and shows, those broght colors would, imo, make the hero/villian look laughable. Live action superhero themes attempt to show the content realistically (otherwise, why not just animate it?)...in reality, a person would be more successful in darker colors...harder for thugs to aim at. I'd suggest people just try and enjoy the difference that different media brings. We don't need the same looks done over and over. If something new can be brought to the look, try it out...variety is the spice of life. Quote
Lego dad Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) ^yes. Otherwise all the actors should have white bubbles above their heads and not actually speak. Movies are not about replicating something that already exists. Last year one of my nephews turned four and is a Hugh superheroes fan. At the time it was the Hulk so I made him a hulk piñata for his birthday. To get the details correct I looked online for drawings and what I found was a plethora of interpretations of the hulk by many different artists. While having the basic green color and black hair and large muscles all of the these varied greatly in shades of green and muscle structure. In general artists want to create their own version based on their own interpretation. While they may use elements from other artists, they don't just want to copy someone else. That's unimaginative and in some cases illegal. But the point is when directors create movies they may base it on something but want to create the world as they see it, not as someone else does. And frankly it's no different for the designers of lego sets. Edited March 12, 2014 by Lego dad Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 @Repeter: Exactly Just look at the classic comic versions of Electro and Rhino... If designs like that made it to the big screen, people in cinemas would laugh their meg@blocks off You have to make the costumes look like something people would actually wear since that makes suspension of disbelief much easier Quote
Rinzler Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Given Arrow is constantly ripping off elements of the Batman universe and especially the Nolan movies, I'm wondering what they'll do with Flash. Maybe he'll be a constant rip-off of Man of Steel? Are you saying Flash is gonna start snaping necks? Quote
Legoman123 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I really don't mind this costume at all. In fact I actually really like it. Quote
Swifty118247 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Sorry to burst some of the DC users bubbles but this isn't a thread to talk about the new flash TV show. I know that I'm not an admin and technically have no right but I thought I may as well warn so people as it seems that the conversations is dropping a bit. I know that some of the conversation was about whether LEGO will make a figure of him but some of it is just not relevant. Quote

I know that some of the conversation was about whether LEGO will make a figure of him but some of it is just not relevant. I disagree. This is a show that is coming soon and will/should spawn many rumors/hopes of seeing some minifigs from it...it's the most on-topic this thread has been for awhile now, imo. Anyone hear what villians might appear on the show? Personally, I don't think we would ever see minifigs ors sets from Arrow or Flash. Arrow (and I am assuming Flash will follow suit, which could very well be wrong on my part) is violent and a bit sexualized. TLG group usually likes things to be a little less...adult. If I wrong, however, it would make me a happy man. Quote
Zzz Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Someone might have said this before, but could it be that 76022 X-Men vs. The Sentinel is really expensive? There is no big fig on board, nor many specialized bricks or prints, and yet it is $50 for 336 pieces? And you might think that's harsh, here comes the bad part: The 50$ from 76018 Hulks Labor Smash translate into 60€! I am sorry but I saw the X-Jet on the level of Malibu Mansion (364 pieces, 5 minifigs, 40$ = 40€). There is something seriously wrong here. Quote

If I wrong, however, it would make me a happy man. Well, LEGO did make about 6 sets based on a movie where a hero blew a whole through a man's chest in an astonishing example of badassery, as well as another 3 or 4 based on a movie where a hero destroys half a city and snaps a man's neck, so... Villain-wise, we've heard a likely possibility of Reverse-Flash (Professor Zoom) already cast, as well as Killer Frost. Apart from those two, I don't believe? I'm hoping that Heatwave, Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang, Mirror Master, and Weather Wizard somehow make it in, though. I would say I really want to see Gorilla Grodd, but he is MUCH more of a movie villain than a TV show villain, mostly due to special effects. I hope we see him in LEGO form eventually, too, particularly as a big fig. Quote
Repeter Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 One reason I could see some sets from Flash more than Arrow is that Flash has more recognizable villians and a less "ninja-y" theme. On top of that, Flash is just a positive guy. All of that could make sets more attractive to TLG, at least. Quote
