lightningtiger Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Oh yes, Lab Smash is great. Love MODOK, Taskmaster, and Falcon. I do wish the holding cell had been better designed though. Those huge gaps in the floor and the ceiling make escape a snap. Think of poor Hulk......they have to make it easy for him sometimes to smash stuff eh ? Quote
Piranha Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Hopefully it doesn't come at all, It's such a waste of a set. Plus do we really need a model based around a batmobile that last appeared in 2008 (TDKR did have a black tumble). It really is the worst concept for a UCS ever. It does seem a bit unusual, seeing as if they were going to make another D2C they could have done something JL. However I get the feeling TLG/DC are avoiding JL branded sets, and are just sticking with Batman/Superman and friends for now. That said if you think about what would make a good UCS, the Tumbler is #1 on that list. I would be very happy if we get one, as that is my favorite version of the Batmobile. Agreed. Would love something for the fans. The Tumbler is yesterday's news. I'd rather have the Arkham Knight batmobile. Makes sense. A set for a video game that hasn't come out yet. By the time the set would be released the game will have been out as well. It has a good chance as TLG needs some filler sets for 2015 since Superman vs Batman was pushed back until 2016. And we know TLG could never resist making another Batmobile. If we got that and a set with Green Lantern I would be very satisfied. As for a Marvel D2C, I think it will be associated with Avengers 2. Im a brickmaster. Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 (edited) Like a Hulkbuster Age of Ultron set? With lots of trees and explodey buildings?!?! Please lord, let it be so!!! Edited March 21, 2014 by Im a brickmaster. Quote
strangely Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 (edited) Yeah, I don't need a gigantic tumbler, it's bad enough the last one was so small, I don't need one that's too big. If they gave us a minifigure compatible one with enough room for two seats than yes I'd buy that. In the grand scheme of things if they're going to make another Batmobile, tumbler or not, I expect to be able to fit two minifigures inside. I mean across two themes we've had six Batmobiles of all types and only the original Tumbler can fit more than one minifigure (And unfortunately I missed out on that one). A 60's Batmobile would be a must buy for me though. I mean we have 60's Batman and Robin now, why not that Batmobile too. Edited March 21, 2014 by strangely Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I would be well up for Spider-Man on a jet-ski. Then again, we've already had a bike and a trike. Fingers crossed the Spider-Unicycle is up next. XDD Now THAT I would buy!! Honestly this Spider-Trike became the second set I've ever gotten where I just didn't use a sticker, since it would be better on something else later and I can still take this thing apart for the pieces. Funny though, it's hard for me to. Guess I'm a bit of a completionist in that sense. It's not even a tricycle! It has FOUR wheels!! Quote
B-Lister Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Well if we do get a Marvel D2C, it will likely be based off of something in which multiple heroes and villains can be justifiably in the set, as was the case with Arkham Asylum. Based on that, something like the X-Mansion would work very well. My knowledge of X-Men is still rather basic, but I know there are many different heroes and villains involved in the franchise. They could have the likes of Iceman, Jean Grey, Beast and others for heroes and have Juggernaut, Sabretooth, Mystique and others for the villains. Hopefully if the Cuusoo project reaches 10,000 votes, though it would most likely be rejected, LEGO will realise that there is popular demand for X-Men making such a set viable. Of course, I would love something like a Tony Stark lab with numerous suits from Iron Man 3 or a set with Winter Soldier, but at the end of the day it depends on what TLG consider viable. X-Mansion is a good choice, but who wouldn't love a Baxter Building with the F4, Silver Surfer, and the Inhumans? Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Y'know, taking the cockpit of the Spider-trike off of that ejector seat thing makes it seem a bit like a jet ski... I think if they're going to keep tapping the Spidey-well, they should at least go for a few more comic-based sets and designs. Spider-Man's popular enough to sell regardless. Maybe we could get a set with Green Goblin and Gwen Stacy in the next wave, once Amazing Spider-Man 2 is in acceptable spoiler territory? (Although, probably not the best set-up for a children's toy...) I'd even go for some Ultimate Spider-Man/Avengers Assemble crossover sets. They've done it the show, and we're obviously not getting in the movies anytime soon, so why not? That'll be a nice excuse to include Iron Spider, with an Iron Man fig to back him up in case kid's aren't into that suit. With the whole Marvel Universe at their hands, I'm surprised that LEGO hasn't done this already with even more characters. Not sure about the Fantastic Four's popularity? Include Future Foundation Spider-Man. Not so sure about doing Daredevil and Punisher? Toss a Spidey in that punch bowl! Loosely try the DC approach: if you're unsure of a character's popularity, include someone you know is a hit. It just sucks that in DC's case, that's always Batman... Speaking of Daredevil, do you guys think that we'll see sets based on the new Netflix shows Marvel's doing? Half of the leads already exist now thanks to Ulti-Spidey, but still. Since these are actual heroes and not just guys in business attire, maybe LEGO would be more willing to do them? I'd love a Baxter Building, or even Doc Doom's castle. The Fantastic Four always seem like this big hole in Marvel's mainstream mythos, I'd say partially due to the god-awful movies and impendingly god-awful movies (and yes, they've announced a sequel to the new Fantastic Four). They seemed to be featured pretty prominently in the LEGO Marvel game and all with existing pieces (well, apart from the Thing, obviously) so maybe we'll be getting the first family of Marvel sometime soon after all? I'm sure they won't let the movie pass without an unofficial tie-in. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Yeah, I'm not too thrilled with a Tumblr D2C. Then again I'm not too thrilled with the idea of Batman filling up this theme, but it appears they've been going and will continue to go that route. So long as it's horrible, and I get to keep my money! Jokes aside a part of me thinks the "Tumblr" the Brickshow reviewer (was it Jason?) was talking about is actually the very large (Tumblr-like in size) Batmobile from Arkham Knright. I believe most won't see the resemblance between this large new Batmobie from Arkham Knight and the Tumblr, though they both seem rather large to me. It would suck though, because IF we got any set from any Arkhm game, Lego has my money Quote
DJ Bricks Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Yeah, i bet were going to get a tie in like lego did this year for ASM2, TWS, and DOFP. I think the Four vs. Galactus and Surfer. The FF were featured heavly in the game because the game director is a huge fan of them, and the X-Men Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I'm really surprised we haven't really gotten any kind of unofficial tie-in to the Arkham games. If you really want to you could possibly count the Arkham Asylum set, even though if it weren't for Robin's short cape, hood, and black pants there wouldn't be any connection. I figured that THAT would be a vehicle for a LEGO Deathstroke if there ever was one. By the way, do you guys think they'd be able to call him Deathstroke? Slade is always an option if not. Quote

The Arkham asylum set uses the logo from the game and Mr. Freeze has a few similarities as well. So it takes a few points of inspiration. I wouldn't mind a few more loosely inspired minifigures from the Arkham games. An Arkham Knight Harley would be awesome. I don't think they'll have a problem calling him Deathstroke. I mean Lego released Deadpool, so mentioning death in a name shouldn't be a problem. Though calling him Slade Wilson would work too. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Just out of curiosity, what would hold them back from calling him Deathstroke? Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Just out of curiosity, what would hold them back from calling him Deathstroke? Something about, y'know DEATHstroke. It's sorta what made them nerf that for Teen Titans by calling him Slade. Quote

strangely Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Something about, y'know DEATHstroke. It's sorta what made them nerf that for Teen Titans by calling him Slade. Well first off I'll say that there's going to be a difference between what a toy and a cartoon can get away with, different standards for each medium. Let's face it, Lego has let some dark and violent imagery into their sets in the past, so I'd guess naming a character Deathstroke isn't going to be a big deal. Second Teen Titans was years ago, standards have likely changed (They constantly are). Cartoons today are getting away with increasing amounts of violent and death (Last years Scooby Doo finale had a pretty high body count), so for a Teen Titans show today I'd think they'd let it slide (Though I think Teen Titans Go still uses the name Slade, but that probably has to do with it being so closely related to the previous show). Personally I'd be fine if they called him Slade Wilson. Oddly that is how I refer to him most of the time, but perhaps that has to do with growing up with the show. Also Deathstroke isn't particularly catchy to me. Quote

Moon_Knight Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) Er, yeah, it makes quite a lot of sense, actually. Like how we got Avengers sets - sets for a movie that wasn't even out at the time. And how we got PotC 4 sets before the movie was out. And how we got Star Wars PT sets before the movies were out. And how we got Man of Steel sets before the movie was out. And how we got The Lego Movie sets before the movie was out. Lego release these kinds of sets to promote something for the licensers. Releasing an Arkham Knight Batmobile is extremely sensible - the game series is a big deal, the Batmobile is going to be a key part of the game, so yeah - it's not out yet (obviously) but releasing a set alongside the game certainly does 'make sense'. I agree with what you're saying. But we do not have a release date for the video game yet and all those movies did indeed have one. It could of course still happen but I believe LEGO would go for the Tumbler over the Arkham Knight Batmobile because it has more fan appeal. Just an opinion though. A helicarrier would be pretty rad D2C set though. I'd love to see Agent Coulson, Maria Hill, and MCU Nick Fury minifigs. The X-Mansion's still my no. 1 choice though. BrickG Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I actually liked them calling him Slade. A villain without a ridiculous name? I'm all for that :P. Quote
B-Lister Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I disliked it. His name is Deathstroke, The Terminator. I hated having to 'dumb it down' when I mentioned the character for those who don't read comics. I don't mean to imply I think people are dumb, just the concept of calling him Slade. Quote

Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 We do have a release date- 14th October 2014 according to GameStop If that's the case, then an Arkham Knight Batmobile could be feasible for next year's winter wave. I'd definitely prefer an entirely new Batmobile design to a Tumbler rehash, particularly if we got a couple of new villains with the Arkham Knight Batmobile. Quote

Tom Jurassic Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I find it funny how we are talking about D2C Sets, yet the Helicarrier hasn't popped up once. The Helicarrier is a staple of the Modern Marvel World, and has appeared in The Avengers, and is set to appear in Thor as well. In addition to this, it played such a crucial role within the Lego Marvel Superheroes game, that it really opens up the possibilities of what Lego could do with a set of the Helicarrier. They don't just have to include Loki, or The Winter Soldier, they could include The Silver Surfer, Galaxtus, or some of the other villains from the finale of the game. Lego are in a unique opportunity where they do not have to follow Cannon; they can place who they want in sets! I could easily imagine a Helicarrier with multiple features, a Captain America in his TWS Outfit with Shield, a Black Widow in her TWS Outfit with Pistols, a Falcon in Modern Uniform with Wings, an Agent Coulson with Alien Weapon, an Agent Hill with Handgun, and a couple of SHIELD Agents, fighting against Green Goblin in his small Helicopter from the Marvel Superheroes game, accompanied by The Winter Soldier, another named Villain, and several henchmen. The Helicarrier has so much potential to make an amazing set, that if Lego don't capitalize on it, I will be left sorely disappointed. Quote
iamste Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 If they did make a Helicarrier, I'd only really want it to be done in the same vein as the Star Destroy one. i can't imagine why anyone would want a mini helicarrier, the thing is incredibly massive. I'd rather have a nice scale model of it than a play set packed with gimmicks and features. But to each their own. I'm possibly in the minority, but by the time Doctor Strange hits the big screen, I'd love a D2C set based around his home. Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I really think they need to do a massive scale one which can fit a Qunjet and several SHIELD Fighter Planes, whilst still including play features and a wide variety of Minifigs. Quote
