Godtshep Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I think a UCS Tumbler would be pretty cool, but I would much rather have something like a huge Batwing (like the old one) with Helena Wayne and Parademons or something like that. I hope we get more than 1 X-Men set this year... Quote
Toby Adams Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I too am onboard with an UCS Tumbler. I would be great because they could capture a lot more detail than the mini one we got in 2012. Quote
Sam892 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I too am onboard with an UCS Tumbler. I would be great because they could capture a lot more detail than the mini one we got in 2012. I just don't see the point of spending money developing, marketing, manufacturing and selling a set based around a film series that ended 2 years ago. It doesn't make sense to me especially when WB are a few months away from announcing there new DCCU films. Surely LEGO and DC should be looking at what's coming up and getting ready to promote that instead of wasting resources on another tumbler. This tumbler aswell is UCS which is going to be huge and expensive, won't feature play features or any mini figures it will really be for display. It's also extremely disapointing that both companies feel that $50 is the highest price point they can reach with system SH sets, but can price the Tumbler at between $120-200? It just seems ridiculous. Quote
Toby Adams Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 All of the above points are taken in but still, the bigger the better . Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I don't like the Tumbler all that much to begin with, but even then, I'm not gonna buy something that's too big for my minifigures in this case. I don't have the room or the money for something that looks like it doesn't belong. I'd rather see a minifig scale set with new characters. Quote
Faefrost Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 A UCS Tumbler would line up well for a NYCC reveal later this month. And June is typically a Super Hero themed month for Lego, following Mays SW focus. So it could very well be. Are there any major Lego specific events or Brickfairs between now and May 15? Lego marketing tends to like to save the Superhero and genre big stuff for the Comic Cons, something like a Mini Cooper would be revealed at a Lego event. The June 1 public date makes me lean more towards a Tumbler. Of course this all may be fake out. The May 15 VIP access may be the GB Ecto 1, with a known June 1 street date. Nothing says its a big set or even an unannounced set. Just a new exclusive set. Quote

A really good Minifig-scale model with Scarecrow and Ra's would be fantastic! Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I actually think the slot would be better fit for a Marvel set, since DC doesn't have anything good to offer (unless they hop off of the Bat-Train) anymore. No cartoons, no movies, so Lego goes back to rehash another set (that's the 3rd rehash this year!) based off of a finished movie series? The Arkham Knight Batmobile would make more sense than that, and would probably look better too. We could've had an X-Mansion within that price range. I'm having doubts if it'll sell well now, but I guess there's no return now. Quote

I'm having doubts if it'll sell well now, but I guess there's no return now. I am doubting Legos strategy when they don´t do a Marvel D2C this or next year. Either do it this year as a tie-in with the X-Men movie so we can get a bunch of X-Men to fill the gap there since they probably won´t get another good opportunity for X-Men tie ins n the near future. Or do it next year for Avengers 2, although it would probably just turn out unneeded when the regular product line will include all heroes of the movie in smaller sets anyway. Actually, I can´t even come up with a decent/possible Marvel D2C. Helicarrier/Avengers Tower would end up with the same figs as in the other movie sets, X-Men could work but it´s really hard to pick characters that don´t need new moulds, Baxter Building is impossible because of Thing (except when they make him a minifig), Everything else is too unpopular right now or better off as a smaller set. Would be easier to just do normal retail sets in the 100 range instead of D2Cs, since they can use new moulds in that case and nothing really necessitates the amount of detail/parts count that a D2C comes with. DC could at least give us some kind of a Justice League HQ to give us more of the missing leaguers faster than once a year but instead we get more Batman and his redesigned villains and statues. Exactly, the only DC sets that would come out diverse, fun, and wouldn't be rehashes, are those that Lego decides to avoid. However, I feel we could still get an X-Mansion without neeeding new molds. Jean, Cyclops, Wolverine, Beast, and Rogue wouldn't require new molds, the villains would be tricky though. Quote
wesker Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 The only X-Men that needs a new mold is Nightcrawler (tail piece) - possibly also Colossus if they go the big fig route with him. Pretty much every other character on the team can use existing parts. The villains are a little trickier but there are options: Another Magneto variant Sabretooth if they print the fur collar instead of molding it Pyro Avalanche Toad Quicksilver Mastermind Mr. Sinister Dark Phoenix Omega Red The Hellfire Club Human characters like Bolivar Trask, Henry Gyrich etc Mystique - a new bob haircut would be preferable but they can always do the long haired look first like this Hasbro action figure: Quote
gundamz Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Colossus should be a regular figure because it is just a guy who turns his skin metal. IIRC, he doesn't grow in size when he turns metal. Xmen Megas: Juggernaut Onslaught Apocalypse (possibly, though I think he is also just a regular sized guy) Nimrod (special sort of Sentinel) I envision next set being a big one (X Mansion) with Juggernaut. Then the one after that might be a smaller one with Apocalypse and Mr. Sinister vs. some Xmen. I heard that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch will be released next year, though as Avengers. Doesn't matter to me, because I'll get them and use them as X-villains. Quote
Pointblank Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Batman just celebrated its 75th anniversary, and S@H in Australia has a splash on the 75th anniversary, although it didn't point to anything special in store... it just seems to suggest more and more to a UCS tumbler being launched. Given the swirling rumours, I don't see any other iconic batman set being produced. Quote

Something like this would be cool: If they add hollow studs to the back of his arms and torso they could use this piece for the cables: Quote
gundamz Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Yes, something like that would be awesome. How about a set with Cable, Bishop and maybe some one else vs. Apocalypse and Mr. Sinister. would be interesting. Quote
just2good Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 I saw this on YouTube: Marcos gives a nice demonstration of the play features and details, along with the minifigures. Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I'm really impressed with the Milano's design! It seems pretty sturdy, has an interior that can seat four characters (I didn't see a pot for Groot though), has a fire extinguisher, and even the underside looks better than the typical Star Wars ship. I think it may be the best SH set of the year. Quote
SMC Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Still don't like the technic parts as they don't seem that legoy to me, but love the inside room and I would have liked to see the quinjet more like this, give I size there was not a lot of room for figs, I wonder if the x-men set will open in the same way. The set I will most likely get is the small on have we still be seen any real pictures of it? Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Should of had spoiler alert on that one.......so the orb is what we'll get what in each set ? Though I will say I'm more impressed with the ship than I have been in past SW ships....but that's just the tiger's opinion. Quote
Cammo Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Nice find! Hope to see the other set with Groot & Rocket soon. Never been in the whole spaceship/sci-fi thing but this looks really nice. Might ending up getting the whole Guardians theme if I like the movie. Does anyone know if we'll get Starlord without that Helmet? Quote
Sam892 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 More importantly that video explains why the Avengers and co are so obsessed with fire safety. Quote
Fritzy Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Thanks for sharing. I'm liking the representation on the minifigs, though I'll need to see them up close to better gauge their detailing. Hopefully we'll get shots or footage of the other two sets soon. I'm more interested in those. Quote
strangely Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Marvel manages to get the better vehicles I'll say that much. Definitely excited for this set, look great. After seeing Captain America last night I can understand why they didn't make any sets for it, not a whole lot of vehicles that would be set worthy. Plus the important characters already exist in minifigure form (Comic Falcon I think looks better than what movie Falcon would have been in minifigure form, though I could have used a new and less ugly Black Widow), so I can't say I see a need for them in that respect either. Though an exclusive winter soldier minifigure would definitely finish out the cast. All in all I'm pretty pleased with the sets for this year. If I had one real disappointment it would be the Spider-man sets. They're not bad sets, but they would have been better if they were movie based (I liked Ultimate Goblin at first but I like him less each time I see him and every time I see Electro I think Iceman for some reason). I'm still sort of hoping for an exclusive set or figure for the movie. I definitely need Gwen Stacy, I'm pretty sick and tired of Mary Jane, we've had five variations of her, but none of Spider-man's other love interests (I mean the updated figure is nice, but I could have lived without it). And I'm grossly sick of that same Spider-man variation we keep getting (I mean it doesn't even match the show it's based on, clearly it's time to update). Quote
