Ultron Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I love these sets!! The interior on the milano is awesome! I really hope there is a potted groot hidden somewhere that we didn't get to see. The nova crops soldier looks sweet too. Very impressed. Now I'm just waiting to see rocket raccoon in full to confirm he has a tail Quote
Clone OPatra Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Oh man, these sets are simply fantastic! The Milano already looked great from the outside, and seeing the huge detailed interior makes it even better! The colors really pop on the ship too, which I love. The other starfighter looks like a nice little design. The bad guy ship in that one is perhaps a little goofy since it's so small, but it's still not bad. The Knowhere escape set is the only one that doesn't really look like much, but it's still appealing due to the color scheme and of course the color scheme. Groot is a nice combination between huge mould and brick-built, and he's a lot more successful with the ball-joints than the upcoming Sentinal. Groot is way too big, perhaps, but his design is at least very cohesive and pleasant. All of these GotG sets look so darn appealing. I know it'd be great to get sets for every Marvel movie ever, but if LEGO can't do that, maybe they made the right choice with this one. I don't even know much about the movie or its lore, and I want all of these. Quote
Fritzy Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Wow. Great timing! Thanks for sharing this great find! Now that I'm seeing the renders up-close, the minifig printing looks well done. Pleased to see the two sets I was most interested in, and the Starblaster Showdown definitely has my attention. I'll likely be getting that one. But the Knowhere Escape Mission set looks promising, too. Wasn't expecting to be so interested in these. About the Sentinel set, I didn't realize there was a tool chest behind Wolverine's seat. So that's new for me. Now I'm just waiting to see rocket raccoon in full to confirm he has a tail It looks like he does! Look at the fifth image here: http://www.amazon.ca/LEGO-Superheroes-Knowhere-Mission-Building/dp/B00IRZT330 Reminds me of the Furty minifig from the Chima line. Quote
Toby Adams Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Now THAT first set means business. As soon as I saw it BAM! Loads of options for the minifigures and that ship is in dark blue and yellow.. . The second set is a pick up and It has DARK RED! It seems that groot has a HF\BIONICLE front back thingy going on..THE PEICES THOUGH! The sets are awesome for parts! *adds 2 sets to birthday\Christmas list*. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 It looks like he does! Look at the fifth image here: http://www.amazon.ca...g/dp/B00IRZT330 Where are you finding the amazon.ca links with the additional pictures? Would you mind posting all of them? The UK links only have two pictures each. It seems that groot has a HF\BIONICLE front back thingy going on.. It looks to me like Groot has one gigantic moulded head/chest/back piece that gets plopped down on top of the build. Quote
Toby Adams Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 It looks like 2 HF parts with studs slapped on some of the new bracket pieces! Hoping for brown colour! Quote

iamste Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 oh my god, they look great. Can't wait for this movie. Hope they do a polybag green version of Drax though, I really like the printing on him though. Quote
Zergos Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Holy crap these are awesomee!!!! I'm really liking the starblaster set, especially the nova corps dude. Prolly gonna have to buy them all at somepoint. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Thanks for the extra pictures! Drax's torso is too awesome with those little LEGO skulls! Gosh these minifigs all look fantastic, as do the sets. Here's hoping the Nova Corps guy is John C. Reilly's character so that we get an official John C. Reilly fig! Quote
iamste Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Oh man, I also really like the x-men set. I reckon if you got two of them you could make a bigger version of the original build, no problem. Quote
SMC Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Starblaster Showdown and that x-men set for me, although they all look good, thanks for all the pictures Quote
sander1992 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Those sets are great! We just have to wait for four months. It is too bad that there is only one Nova corps minifig. I can start saving money . Actually the only super heroes sets I have is spiderman glider and mini batwing. I just have to start buying . Quote
wesker Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Thanks for the pictures. All four sets look amazing! Can't wait to pick them up. Quote
Faefrost Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I love them all. The grey Drax is a little jarring at first, as in the minimal use of actual green on Gamora. I both love and hate the Nova helmet. But at least we have one that is a little more traditional already. Quote
Cammo Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 (edited) I'm more of a DC/Hobbit collector but this Marvel Summer wave is just too good to pass. Although the set with Groot and Rocket Racoon is rubbish, the minifigures make up for it. The division of the minifigures is great as well. Almost no repeats. What's the price (official retail price) on these sets? The ones that are mentioned on Amazon seem very steep. Edited April 4, 2014 by Cammo Quote
Zergos Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 it's cool how in the starblaster set, starlords jacket is open, but in the milano set, it's closed mostly Quote
Moon_Knight Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 (edited) oh my god, they look great. Can't wait for this movie. Hope they do a polybag green version of Drax though, I really like the printing on him though. I agree. I really like the grey Drax but I definitely wouldn't mind getting a green one. I'm glad Groot's claws aren't white. They looked white in the leaked images. When are these coming out? My birthday's this month and I want em now... Edited April 4, 2014 by Moon_Knight Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 These look amazing, definitely my favorite Superheroes sets thus far The minifigs are excellent too And Rocket's tail is attached the same way as in Scratchy's case, you can see a thin gray line between the torso and the legs Quote
Ultron Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 it's cool how in the starblaster set, starlords jacket is open, but in the milano set, it's closed mostly Also different pants! It looks like he does! Look at the fifth image here: http://www.amazon.ca...g/dp/B00IRZT330 Reminds me of the Furty minifig from the Chima line. Awesome! Thanks for the pics! Quote
Fritzy Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 (edited) What's the price (official retail price) on these sets? The ones that are mentioned on Amazon seem very steep. You may have been looking at Canadian prices (in which case, who could blame you for thinking the prices are steep). Starblaster Showdown - $19.99 (US) / $24.99 (CA) Knowhere Escape Mission - $39.99 (US) / $49.99 (CA) Milano Spaceship Rescue - $74.99 (US) / $89.99 (CA) Edited April 4, 2014 by Fritzy Quote
Ultron Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 And is drax really gray? He certainly looks gray there but in earlier set photos he looked pale green.. Quote
wesker Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I agree. I really like the grey Drax but I definitely wouldn't mind getting a green one. I'm sure we'll get comic book variants eventually, especially with a GOTG cartoon in the works. Quote
Faefrost Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Oh and regarding Storms hair. I know some grumble because she does not have the tiara headpiece. But thinking on it, we are much better this way. Just getting that common and versatile hair piece in white opens so many more options. Clea? Black Cat? Songbird (ok with a pink stripe that they are good at)? Hepzibah? Dagger? And really Storm does not wear the headpiece a lot. Many versions of her are without it, including the classic 90's cartoon that seems to be where they are pulling from. Night crawlers tail if they ever do him, could probably simply be back printing. A molded tail would probably be more trouble than it would be worth for him. Too thin to mold well and would get in the way of play. Quote
strangely Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 (edited) Wow, for once they made cheekbones that look good, it helps that they're appropriately sized unlike the gigantic cheekbones printed on most of these characters. Facial hair printing could use some work though (Though I'm unsure there's really a better way to do that). All in all the minifigures are really quite impressive. Although Groot isn't quite working for me, but I don't care about him as much, so I can accept it. I'm glad we finally get to see the interior of the X-jet, amazingly Marvel vehicles always end up being more spacious than I expect. Though I still wish Storm's hair was different. Oddly the lack of tiara doesn't bother me now, but the fact that it's an overused hairpiece does sort of bother me, but it doesn't look bad. Overall a good summer wave.
