Also, I think that the Guardians sets look fantastic and, while unlikely, I hope we can get more that are comic based as I think Marvel Now Starlord looks way better than in the movie, we could also get a green Drax.

Wow, I don't think I've ever heard anybody say that they liked the Marvel Now Star-Lord more than the Annihilation. That's a big reason why people don't like Bendis' run.

The movie Star-Lord is closest to the Annihilation Star-Lord which storyline was how most fans were introduced to him. I think the red-eyed mask is what makes him look so freakin cool and unique but to each his own.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Quill's Marvel Now costume is the one in the Lego Marvel game isn't it? I actually prefer that one....

As for the whole Drax issue, I would prefer green, but movie Drax appears to be sorta olive-y. Either way, the colour would be off. Although I wish Lego had gone with a darker grey.

Kinda disappointed we haven't gotten any Winter Soldier sets. I have seen the movie, so I know why people say there's not much that would make good sets, but seriously, take Skull and the Hydra Agent out of the tank set and swap in two of Winter Soldier, Crossbones and Batroc et voila! Perfect tie in set.

This might need some be merged with another post.

Anyways:

Smallest set: £20

The escape mission: £40

Milano ship: £70

Not sure if I'm 100% correct!

With the exception of the missing roof the HYDRA tank is pretty much taken directly straight from the first Captain America movie. Red Skull and the HYDRA Agent seem like better candidates to be included with it. If you're going to include characters from the new movie you might as well change the set itself, and an all new HYDRA vehicle seems a lot more interesting and fresh to me than a rehashed SHIELD vehicle from the Avengers wave 2 years ago. I'm happy with what we got.

Besides both Red Skull and Winter Soldier are equally important antagonists and regardless which character we got we would still be missing the other.

At least in Winter Soldier's case we know he will be back for future films with the actor being contracted for 9 appearances. There are plenty of chances to get him in the future. Can't say the same about Red Skull.

Not really, it looks to stiff for the type of arm winter soldier has. I used a metallic gun metal arm from a lake town guard, it turned pretty good:https://www.flickr.com/photos/78639554@N05/12242737994/ I have one more pic with the scarf thing

I'm not bothered! I'd rather get the comic book/tv show sets either way. But to suggest Lego couldn't come up with anything to base a set on is nuts. We've had WAY duller. How could a £12 set consisting of the climax of the movie with a set piece and the two main characters be dull anyways?

Yes, they could come up with a line of sets if they had too, but they'd mostly be kind of boring. I mean we have a Quinjet, Helicarrier would be too big for a standard set (It would have to be ucs), and most of the other vehicles are sort of just normal vehicles (It would be nice to get some trucks and whatnot, but that's sort of what we have the City theme for). As for playsets there's really only a couple locations I'd consider, and there'd be a lot of grey pieces used and they'd have to be scaled down. Overall while there's some material there to work with ultimately it wouldn't be very exciting or interesting. It would just be a line to buy for the minifigures alone (And we already have most of those characters in some form). I mean Iron Man 3 had similar problems and that line was pretty bleak.

I'm loving the Marvel sets. Pleasantly surprised at the amount of interior space in the Milano and the Blackbird! Groot's arms though... Wow. Who thought that was OK? The minifigures are stunning, other than Drax, who is looking rather pale!

But overall, I'm stoked. For once, I'm not buying all of the sets because I'm a collector-I'm buying them because they look great. :classic:

We had a set from the original Avengers sets with Hawkeye and Loki fighting Iron Man in SHIELD pickup truck, why not do something similar here? The new Captain America and Black Widow in/around a SHIELD van fighting the Winter Soldier. Or maybe the Winter Soldier hijacked it or something. Still, a relatively cheap set to cash in on the number one movie in the world featuring 2 BA characters we really want and the kids'll be cool with it again, I'm sure. If they won't buy a DC set without Batman in it, then wouldn't it be a reasonable to assume that they'd want to buy a set just because the super cool Winter Soldier is in it? I don't care who you are, you definitely think that the Winter Soldier is the most badass mofo in the MCU.

But that's the thing, I'm tired of buying sets solely because I want the minifigures. And unfortunately that's what most of these sets end up being. I don't want a quick cash in, I want something worth buying just for the set itself. I mean last years movie tie-ins were pretty bad, an underscaled mansion, Mandarin's go kart, the boat that makes no sense in context to the movie. I just think Lego would have ended up doing the same thing for Captain America, it lacked new vehicles and it's locations were to big to scale down into sets properly. Sure, they could have jammed minifigures into generic sets made up of rehashes of previous trucks and whatnot, but ultimately that would be a bit boring and not all that worthwhile. Ultimately I don't need to see a line wasted on jamming new characters into sets that are essentially parts packs. Ultimately I'd rather wait around for something really worthwhile.

And while I want a Winter Soldier minifigure I'd be okay with just getting him as an exclusive in a polybag or something. And even if we don't get him this year he's going to appear in more movies down the line, so one way or the other we'll get him.

Which SpiderMan set comes a web or a white string?

Preferably a small set :)

Thanks :)

Or 76004 Spider-Cycle Chase, which in my opinion is one of the best $20 Superheroes sets.

The Doc Ock Truck Heist 76015 includes the Spider-Man string along with one of the harry potter style webs. I just happened to purchase this set the other day and it's fantastic, the vehicle is surprisingly good and the figures that are included are great. It's certainly worth the £20 it cost. :classic:

Anyone notice the similarities between the GOTG sets and the original Avengers sets

  • A flying hero in the small set and the large set (Star-Lord/ Iron Man)
  • The main transportation Is in the large set (Millano/ Quinjet)
  • A set around $50 with a big figure inside (Groot/ Hulk)
  • The main villain and a henchman included in the large set (Ronan and the Sakarran/ Loki and the Chitauri)
  • The main hero in the smallest set (Star-Lord/ Captain America)
  • Three heroes in the large set (Star-Lord, Drax and Gamora/ Iron Man, Thor and Black Widow)

Am I the only one who noticed these?

@Monty, you stole the guy from my photo and used him in yours!

Plus the bad guy only has three goons like with the Chitauri in the avengers range. However nicely unlike the avengers range we get other characters other than the principle team: Nebula and nova corps officer. Plus thankfully we get weapons for the bad guy goons this time round that look like weapons. The chitauri we got one brick built blaster. So this range looks like it has improved on previous mistakes, plus unlike avengers all the characters look more or less like the movie designs. With avengers there were inaccuracies like black widow, Bruce Wayne face on Loki, shades on Hawkeye. However looking at these sets I see no costume inaccuracies, unique face prints and thankfully no cheekbones on gamora. Hopefully next year black widow will follow suit. Storm also has no cheekbones. Hopefully they have realised marvel wise that cheekbones for female heads. Really impressed with the 2014 marvel range even the comic sets have some merit.

Sounds like reasonable marketing to me.

It seems logical that not only set size, but character's importance in the film position the minifigs in which set they go in.......but also it's what the powers to be at Disney say what goes where.

Even though you might say I'll only buy one of sets with Star-lord in it.......you'll have to buy the other to get the different version of him......just like all the Iron Mans !

Nine seems an awful lot of movies for one character to be in. Do you have an article that says which movies?

The new $20 Doc Oc bank truck heist set has both the white string and the web piece.

Lego has certain patterns and habits they use when designing themes or waves. A similar basic breakdown can be used for a number of non comic themes as well. It has nothing to do with Marvel. You could probably Analyze Star Wars or Harry Potter etc and come to similar results. They target certain price points and a certain degree of play value at a given price point.

Doesn't mention which movies he will appear in, only that he's contracted for 9. If they follow the route of the comics there's a good possibility that

Bucky will take over as Captain America.

Well, if he does have a 9-movie deal, that course of action is likely to be where Marvel take things. I sure hope it is at least, because then we can eventually get ourselves a Winter Soldier minifigure, seeing as we aren't getting one this year (unless LEGO decide to be pure evil and release it as a SDCC exclusive).

Marvel Studios has learned there lesson with Robert Downey Jr. Don't go back into contract negotiations after putting someone in a bunch of films. Get their commitment upfront. Marvel is not bound to use Sebastian Stan for nine films, but he is committed to them if they chose to. I hear they are doing that with all their contracts anymore.

Back on topic, I could not resist getting the Captain America / Red Skull set yesterday. I normally wait until Super Hero sets go on clearance. But they are selling so well in my area, I think they might sell out before that happens.
