8BrickMario Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I feel bad for that guy who submitted it on CUUSOO, since they beat him to the idea for DC Duplo. Quote
montgocloud Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Anyone notice the similarities between the GOTG sets and the original Avengers sets A flying hero in the small set and the large set (Star-Lord/ Iron Man) The main transportation Is in the large set (Millano/ Quinjet) A set around $50 with a big figure inside (Groot/ Hulk) The main villain and a henchman included in the large set (Ronan and the Sakarran/ Loki and the Chitauri) The main hero in the smallest set (Star-Lord/ Captain America) Three heroes in the large set (Star-Lord, Drax and Gamora/ Iron Man, Thor and Black Widow) Am I the only one who noticed these? @Monty, you stole the guy from my photo and used him in yours! I think those are mainly coincidental and, like others have said, pure marketing. Or it could be a reflection on the movie's scenes and what characters are included where are dictated by the scene they are featured most prominently in. I reckon this is the case with Groot and Rocket Raccoon. @Rinzler Or maybe I read the comics and have an affinity for Star-Lord. But even so, it's not the same picture. Quote
Legoman123 Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 (edited) http://www.newsarama...cture-deal.html Doesn't mention which movies he will appear in, only that he's contracted for 9. If they follow the route of the comics there's a good possibility that Bucky will take over as Captain America. Thanks for the link. Edit: Do you think he will appear in any of the Avengers movies? Ultron Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Thanks for the link. Edit: Do you think he will appear in any of the Avengers movies? Definitely. I highly doubt Avengers 2 since he's still figuring out who he is and he hasn't been confirmed by this point, but I'd say almost certainly Avengers 3. Quote

Well I really hope so, he is one of my favourite characters. Would he play as the Winter Soldier though? I only ask because I don't really know a lot about him from the comics. I like Winter Soldier better (for his character at least). And I really like him too. The arm makes him really cool to me. Quote

Moon_Knight Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I completely agree with you. I really like him as the Winter Soldier, so I hope he doesn't take up the role of Captain America anytime soon. Well, Chris Evans is officially signed on for six films and Sebastian Stan is officially signed on for nine, so we'll probably see Crossbones (and according to the Russo brothers, "he's not confirmed, nor denied" to be involved in the next Cap movie, which basically means he's in it ;D) do his thing that he does in the comics and Sebastian Stan will be the next Captain America. Chris Evans has said that he's grateful for Marvel because they've helped his career grow and gotten his name out. He'd like to continue to enhance his acting skills though and feels that he needs to leave Marvel to do that. So I think we eventually better get ready for some Bucky Cap minifigs but that won't happen until probably 2018. Quote
KingPixels Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I don't know what trailers people have been watching, but Drax has always looked fairly grey to me. As some have said, there's no proper LEGO color for what he 'really' is, but I think grey was a good choice. Perhaps olive or sand green would've worked, but then he might have ended up looking way too green. Grey works for me. He is definitely 100% green. Quote
strangely Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 He is definitely 100% green. I think he's more of 50% green 50% grey. I mean he definitely has a green tint, but it's definitely not like any of the colors Lego has on hand to use, so ultimately they'd have to make a choice which color he's closer to grey or green. Honestly it's sort of a toss up on which Lego color is closer. Quote
JaseTJ Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I'd just like to point out that, for example, with paint, there are many different shades of black. Each one is generally tinted slightly more one color than the others (because with subtractive color you mix an even amount of the primary colors to get black). This is the same idea. I'd say Drax is grey, but yes it is a slightly green shade of grey. Quote
LMB10 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I have no idea how anyone can see grey in him - he's green. Quote
Darth Punk Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 He is definitely 100% green. 100% green, no. Special effects makeup is never all one color, other colors are added to give interest, depth and detail. You can clearly see orange in the highlights on both the raised and smooth areas of his skin. Not to mention bits of yellow and red on the smooth portions. Plus he has a blue light on him which you can clearly see in both his eyes and the person to his right which is resulting in some grey in the shadow areas. Just look at the top of his head, it is clearly several colors influenced by the paint on his skin and the light. The wood in the background running through his ears also show the same mixture of a greenish green would could also indicate other lights and reflective light from a large green object. I imagine his coloring would look very different outside. Quote
strangely Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 (edited) He really looks grey to me. There are other colors mixed in for sure, but he seems to be primarily grey. There's obviously a reason Lego chose grey for the minifigure. I think lighting sort of plays a part as to why he looks green some of the time. Edited April 10, 2014 by strangely Quote
Darth Punk Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I think lighting sort of plays a part as to why he looks green some of the time. I would say the opposite. My guess is he has green makeup on to give him green undertones and they use lighting to make him look grayish. TLG went with info they were given that could easily have changed during production, let alone post production. I think its a bit folly to expect the film version and a minifig to match up exactly. Both are really interpretations based on how they look best in their given environment. Quote
LMB10 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Any picture of Drax shows him as green - I have no idea where you all see grey Quote
Sam892 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 (edited) Any picture of Drax shows him as green - I have no idea where you all see grey Well given the large amount of people saying he's grey, plus the fact that LEGO weren't the only toy company to create a grey Drax, http://mightymega.co...-vinyl-figures/ http://www.actionfig...-2014-products/ I'm going to say he looks more grey than green. Navy Trooper Fenson Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 (edited) Drax in the movie isn´t really green and goes a bit into a greyish direction which makes him look grey in bad lighting like "strangely" linked but making him flat-out light grey is going too far, he is obviously olive. Like with Boba Fett where the limbs of his overall are a different shade of light grey and instead of making the whole overall light grey because when you don´t look several minutes on a pic of it you wouldn´t even notice that difference, Lego made it goddamn blue because the designers are too stupid and colorblind nowadays to make a judgement call and choose what real people see. And on the topic of accuracy, how tall is this Mixel joints Groot anyway now in relation to minifigs? 10 or 12 metres? He seems awfully big to me when he was just like a head or two higher in the movie and maybe twice as tall as a regular person on the first concept art. At least we can´t blame Marvel for the non-film designs like with Iron Man, the concept art seems to be pretty clear about it. http://media2.firsts...CharsFullXL.jpg Edited April 10, 2014 by Navy Trooper Fenson Quote
