Captain Nemo Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 (edited) Since Beware the Batman is coming back on air after the hiatus, and the A-Listers are showing up, like Ra's al Ghul, Killer Croc, Harvey Dent/Two Face and (rumored) Deathstroke, maybe we could get a few sets? I actually feel like that would make it less likely for us to get anymore Beware the Batman sets now (Granted the one we got was very loosely based on it anyways). I don't see any reason why the show would become more popular with kids now that it's going to be airing at 3 in the morning. Frankly, I'm glad we don't seem to be getting sets based off it--anything that forces DC/Lego to use up all of their Batman set ideas and give us some Justice League ones would be great. On a related note, I'm not sure where you're getting those A lists from--last I checked Ra's was the only famous and popular villain that was supposed to appear on the show (Which let's be honest here, is most likely a large reason why it failed--bad knock-off villains. Anarky does not equal Joker; Magpye is not Catwoman; Humpty Dumpty is the poor man's Riddler. I don't see any reason why those villains would sell sets either). JaseTJ Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 (edited) Agents of SHIELD has- apparently- gotten unbelievably better since Winter Soldier. Unfortunately I can't see that for another few weeks, so until then I'll not know for sure myself :P If any of you are worried about not having superheroes in it, what about Deathlok? -That's not to say he's a hero, but he is super. :P Edited April 19, 2014 by JaseTJ Quote

Where did you hear all of that from? I know it's coming back to Toonami, but isn't that just in reruns? Agents of SHIELD has- apparently- gotten unbelievably better since Winter Soldier. I thought the last episode they made was the unaired one on the DVD that they're going to air on Adult Swim? Quote

Numbuh1Nerd Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 New episodes are going to air, and they may air that 1 episode on TV but 5 of the episodes are available online Are they of good video quality? If not I'll just wait it out to see them on TV. Isn't it odd, though, that Cartoon Network would take a show that's obviously popular enough to be revived and already has 6 new episodes to air and, instead of putting it into a block that essentially was made for this show, only run it at midnight? It's not like they'd be sacrificing a new show's timeslot, since it would just take up one rerun of Teen Titans Go!. Also, why haven't we heard anything about a new DC Nation show? Is Cartoon Network just giving up on the block entirely because they can't make Batman into another Adventure Time? And to think all of this could've been avoided if they aired DC Nation on Friday nights instead of at the crack of dawn on Saturdays. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I'm sure there's a Culture and Media thread where Beware the Bat can be discussed at length. That place is not here. Things have gotten a bit loose around here since I was laid up for a while with the flu. Let's all make more of an effort to stay on topic, please. Quote

But people posting that the show is airing again isn't relevant to the sets at this point. We have wishlist threads for characters that we want to see or sets we'd like to see made. So, I also think Arrow or AOS possibilities could be discussed elsewhere. I think some people have lost sight as to what this thread is. I'm not saying that certain topics are forbidden, all I'm trying to say is that there are proper places for them. I think I've given a lot of leeway lately but that's been taken for granted. I'm not here to slam you guys down, I'm just politely reminding you of the proper places for such discussions. Quote

Beware the Batman is dead, just like GLTAS and Young Justice. It was dead with the tenth episode. It was dead when it first aired. It was dead when all the merch it got were Happy Meal toys, one single action figure and half the content of a Lego set. Next few DC sets will be based on random aspects like before. I don´t think we will ever see toys based on Arrow but it would be sweet if they would use the costume like how they used Arkham City Robin. Everyone's hyping over a 66 Batmobile and I just want my damn Keatonmobile. 2006 version seems like a good substitute. I am still surprised how Lego uses Keaton-man in so many sets and even made Nicholson Joker. Quote

Numbuh1Nerd Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Agreed, he's everywhere now, comics, video games, live action and animated tv shows all that's missing is a movie! I heard someone talking about how DC's got this weird initiative-kinda thing to get Deathstroke to be a big deal. I think they may be trying to move in on the Deadpool front, or maybe they just think he's a badass that the public will love once they give him a chance. They should really focus less on trying to make him a villain and more on making him a bounty hunter/assassin. That angle is so much more interesting. Either way, though, I think we'd all love to see a Deathstroke figure come to fruition, and it doesn't seem too unlikely. It might serve them well to do a set kind-of-but-not-really based on Arrow with Green Arrow and Black Canary fighting Deathstroke. LEGO should really notice these opportunities to take advantage (in the best way possible of their two biggest audiences: the kids and the fanboys. When you can hit both birds with one stone, why not just do it? You can tell they've tried that once or twice or the obvious nods to Tim Burton's Batman movies and the classic Doc Ock set, but you're not going to hurt your market any by doing it more often. If nothing else, a variant Batsuit based on an existing design in each wave (and not the lame action figure-y variants like Arctic Suit Batman and Diving Suit Batman) would suffice for me. Give us a few Spidey variants along the same guidelines and I'll piss my pants. It's not too hard to do this and let both sides win. Quote
SandMirror38 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Is Man Bat Attack a good set? Would anyone here recommend it? Quote
Cammo Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 For that price? Y Is Man Bat Attack a good set? Would anyone here recommend it? I liked it way more than the Flash set. The only good thing in that set was Flash itself. I very much like the Batcopter (since it was the only vehicle that was missing that appeared in the DC Superheroes game.) Quote
Drock Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Is Man Bat Attack a good set? Would anyone here recommend it? The helicopter is well-built. I wasn't all that excited about it, since it's been helicopter overload with the Super Heroes sets. But it is still nice. Manbat is solid, but if you have one of the vampire bats from the Vampyre Castle, they work just as well. The obvious draw is Nightwing. Heis a great figure. True to the source material (New52), though I prefer blue-highlighted Nightwing. If not now, then later you could likely find this for about 20% off or more. Definitely worth it for that price. Quote
Legoman123 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 (edited) Is Man Bat Attack a good set? Would anyone here recommend it? I personally think it's a great set. The helicopter itself is a good build and the minifigures are excellent. It is also the first time we have seen a brand new Batman villain that is not just a remake of the villains that we got in the 2006-2008 Batman theme. Edited April 22, 2014 by Legoman123 Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Is Man Bat Attack a good set? Would anyone here recommend it? I'm not a big fan of it, personally. The colors on the copter are messy and it feels just a little incomplete (though not as much as either recent Batwing) and Nightwing's glider is just odd. I don't find Man-Bat very desirable, either, and Batman, though I like the figure, is the same old one. Nightwing is the only real draw, in my opinion, and he's not a great minifigure. Good, but not great. It's my least favorite of the DC sets in its price range so far. Quote
Rexus Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I'm 100% sure we'll never get a Deathlok...they just put him in Agents of Shield to keep things interesting...I don't think he will appear in a proper movie, so we can forget about him. Quote

Well even then, we've gotten a few legit villains in the show now, enough so to at least warrant a decent set. Deathlok, Graviton, Blackout as of tonight, and I'm sure there are more that I simply didn't catch. They've got a good setup for an unofficial set base on the show along the lines of the Spidey-Trike vs. Electro set. They may have to make the villain a little more comic book-y and only use Coulson as an actual named Agent, but I'll take what I can get as long as we can repurpose some parts into a purist version of the team.
