LEGO need to stop all these ridiculous bootlegs that are coming out of China. It only really happens with the Superheroes line which isn't surprising, but it's still awful.

I'd rather they didn't. Where else can I get a moulded plastic bigfig Red Hulk? Or a printed Odin, Winter Soldier, and Fantastic Four for less than $2 each?

Maybe you should create your own or print off decals, bootleg minifigures are usually designs stolen from LEGO or AFOL who create custom decals, bootleggers have an unfair advantage since they don't have to pay Marvel or DC for the licence, they don't have to pay LEGO for copying their sets and designs and they don't have to pay AFOLs who have also put there own hours into there creations to have them stolen. As far as I'm concerned Bootleggers are thieves who illegally make money using other more talented people's ideas.

Bootleggers don´t make the designs themselves but at least they sell it. Lego chooses to not give us more opportunities to give them money (Megabloks had Marvel CMFs, there is no reason for Lego to not do them) so I am giving my money to people that will take it and don´t play these stupid games of which lone JL member to release this year. If only these Bootlegs were available outside of USA, that is.

I'll point out the basic fact that customs of licensed characters that are sold is also stealing. The big difference is that bootleggers do it in bulk and flood the market. But in the end both are profiting off of somebody else's IP. Frankly I'm okay with buying bootlegs of minifigures that aren't widely available (Liked SDCC minifigures) or that are based on game designs, but I would never buy a bootleg of a minifigure that's widely available. I do agree that stealing AFOL designs is pretty low though.

The funny thing is the bootlegging wouldn't be so bad if Lego actually just kept up with fan demand. I mean a lot of the bootlegs I see are of SDCC minifigures or video game characters. Lego tends to move at a slow pace releasing characters, and yet they only fuel the fire of fan anticipation with these game designs and SDCC exclusives. The demand was there and at first customs met that demand, but eventually bootleggers found a way to do it bigger and better. Increasing the superheroes theme and beating the bootleggers to the punch may be the only way to get that market back (I mean taking them to court would be long and tedious and probably wouldn't accomplish much). Meeting fan demands in a more timely matter would definitely slow that market down. Really the only bootlegs that intrigue me are the ones Lego has failed to make a reality as of yet, so that may be the key to beating them at their own game.

Actually...

Maybe MB paid an additional fee for the blind bagged license and LEGO didn't pick it up, so Funko did instead? DC has a similar line as a tie in for Scribblenauts, too.

That's seems logical. Or possibly Lego isn't aloud to do a superhero CMF because it competes too much with another piece of existing merchandise Marvel/DC puts out. I recall there was a similar problem with the Star Wars magnet sets where another toy company thought that being able to buy minifigures individually was direct competition and thus Lego had to start gluing the minifigures to the magnets. I'd assume that would be the same problem for a superhero CMF. Perhaps they could find a way around that though, for Star Wars they did the planets series and microfighters. While a straight up CMF series might not be possible perhaps a mini build type set similar to microfighters would work.

Tried to get the Ultron one...1/72 chance is bullcrap :sadnew: I don't see CMF out of their reach, but I don't see them doing it anytime soon.

As far as I'm aware Hasbro have EXCLUSIVE rights to make Star Wars figures, this is why lego cannot make Lego Star Wars CMF.

HOWEVER, DC allow many companies to make DC action figures (funko release DC vinyls as do DC themselves) so a DC CMF line is still in reach.

On the marvel side I'm not so sure, I believe it's more like Star Wars as in the Funko POP! Heros line most of them are figures with a movable head but the Star Wars and Marvel one are bobble heads, I believe this is to to with the whole exclusive rights to action figures and stuff.

Hope this clears some stuff up.

How am I supposed to mould a Red Hulk out of ABS plastic? And for less than $2?

They also just came out with 8 packs of captain America with 8 variants

Hmmm... Maybe they got pushed back. To July, maybe -- whch is when the TMNT movie sets are releasing? The listings are still available on Amazon Canada, so hopefully this isn't an indication that the scheduling has changed for these sets. I wouldn't blame them if they did, though, in light of how many new sets and themes are launching (officially) next month.

If it's confidential, it probably shouldn't be here, but it may be fake. If they do make ASM2 sets, I'm just going to be annoyed that they won't make a classic Goblin and stick to cinematic universe and cartoon variations.

Definitely a fake, as someone pointed out, the printing goes far too down for a LEGO figure. Plus, it doesn't make sense for LEGO to put this much effort into a figure that will be released in a set that doesn't even cash into the movie when it's in theaters (see TDKR set and the detail on that one).

If you look at the flickr page of the person who initially found that you can see he drew up his own custom Amazing Spider-Man 2 Green Goblin and the design he drew up is the exact same one on that figure. I don't think that is a coincidence  I wish there were ASM 2 sets, but unfortunately it seems we will have to wait until ASM 3.

@just2good

I don't understand how the printings too low, could you explain some more please?

There's printing on the tips of the feet, lego would never do that for a most likely one time minifig that's releasing months after the movie has came out.

Yep, definitely fake. The face has the exact same lines.

War machine was a one time minifig. And Iron Patriot. And heartbreaker.
