TheLegoDr Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 That custom Groot looks really good! That is what I was expecting more than this monstrosity, but as stated, I'm sure the what we have will be very similar to the movie version. Quote
Cammo Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 (edited) I have to admit the cast all together is awesome. Too bad Rocket doesn't have his maroon uniform on though... Edited May 24, 2014 by Cammo Quote
kevkipo Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I have to admit the cast all together is awesome. Too bad Rocket doesn't have his maroon uniform on though... Maybe some short maroon legs and Star-Lords torso? In this picture i find Groot looking awful... the grey is horrible on him. But the rest of the cast looks fantastic Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I already thought that Groot looked awful in the form LEGO have designed him, but that image makes him look even worse than earlier images indicated. I am not impressed with his design at all, nor I am overly happy with Rocket's design; his head looks pretty poor for a number of reasons (e.g. not even close to the right colour). The other minifigures look great up close though, particularly Ronan. Quote
vriverajr3 Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 That does show how awesome some of these figures are. I really think Rocket should have a smaller torso piece, which of course doesn't exist. He just looks too big comparitively. It looks as if he is using the CMF Simpsons's tail piece, as expected. You can see the thin gray line above his legs. I agree, i think Rocket should have been around the same size of the minifig body that comes with the Emmet watch. its not a real working minifigure body, but it would be awesome if Lego was able to make minifures this size for characters such as Rocket. 8BrickMario Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 (edited) What's wrong with Rocket's color? You guys have to remember that the characters look very different in the film, and that LEGO sometimes uses preliminary information for their designs (IM3, anyone?) Here's a concept art of film Rocket, and in the trailer footage, he's grayish as well, not really brown enough to be Reddish Brown: Edited May 24, 2014 by 8BrickMario Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I JUST now realized that Star-Lord, Gamora, and Drax are all wearing variations of the same outfit, which is actually a prison uniform. God I feel stupid. Quote
Cammo Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 (edited) I just think that they all have different outfits in the beginning of movie. Then they get the yellow prison outfit and later on they get the maroon team outfit, no? Edited May 24, 2014 by Cammo Quote
TheLegoDr Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 ^If by variation you mean all wearing the same pants then yes... I didn't know it was a prison uniform, but that is an interesting idea. I guess it makes sense why the pants would all be the same then. Quote
Infernum Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Hm. Rocket looks very stretched... I'm looking forward to moding Groot, seems like a fun challenge! Quote
SandMirror38 Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I know everyone hates The Brick Show -myself included- but this is the first review I've seen for Knowhere Escape Mission Quote
8BrickMario Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) That Sakaaran's gun feels very un-LEGO-like to me. The set looks good, though, with some nice play features and builds. I'll consider it. Edited May 25, 2014 by 8BrickMario Quote
kevkipo Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I think the Maroon red outfits are their team outfits Quote
ReZourceman Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Oh wow. X-Men VS The Sentinel is a brilliant set. Definitely want to get more for Sentinel army action. Here's my review Quote
kevkipo Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Has someone gotten hand of the Starblaster showdown yet? Quote
just2good Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 Has someone gotten hand of the Starblaster showdown yet? I do! Overall, as an army builder, I guess this set is alright, but if you're not army building, the minifigures are all it really has going for it. I'm not really impressed with the builds, to be honest. Cammo Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 ^ Indeed the enemy's spaceship looks lackluster. Only the biggest 2 sets for me. Quote
deskp Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 @just2good, the pants on starlord in that set it not in any other set. and yeah thats totally John C. Reilly! as for that enemy guy, the hoods looks really wrong on them, jsut ooka t those guys in the trailers, their headwear is very different. Quote
legofreak86 Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Just seen DOFP and immediately saw where they took a certain some plot points for the storyline behind the X-men vs. Sentinel set in the description on amazon. Plus the look of the wings and cockpit of the DOFP movie jet seem very similar to the Lego set, ESPECIALLY the engine shape/design. Great film shame there aren't more X-men sets as we are still missing some major players from this film even though the set wasn't a DOFP set its easily loosely based on DOFP.I hope at some point we get: Professor X, Mystique, Iceman, Kitty pride and beast certainly. KingPixels Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 as for that enemy guy, the hoods looks really wrong on them, jsut ooka t those guys in the trailers, their headwear is very different. Yup. Quote
8BrickMario Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) You're right, it doesn't . That minifigure should have used a new helmet rather than the overused hood, and the legs could have had the silver details as well. Edited May 25, 2014 by 8BrickMario Quote
just2good Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 Thanks y'all! ^ Indeed the enemy's spaceship looks lackluster. Only the biggest 2 sets for me. Yeah, this set is definitely the worst. @just2good, the pants on starlord in that set it not in any other set. Yep, I totally messed up on that one. I do apologize. Additionally, the torso is exclusive. This picture messed me up- the pants are all the same in the Milano. You're right, it doesn't . That minifigure should have used a new helmet rather than the overused hood, and the legs could have had the silver details as well. Never noticed it was off until now. That is really lame, especially considering another toy line got it right. Quote
Piranha Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Thanks for the pictures. I wonder why they didn't just go all out and do a big fig Groot instead of a partially molded one? The mismatch of colors and bad joint connections don't give him that organic appearance he has. I know he can change size but that is huge, I think even a minifig with a new head for Groot would have been better. I thought the red jackets were not their prison uniforms? In the first trailer they are wearing yellow/orange jumpsuits while in prison. I have to admit I was against it at first, but now I really like Starlord's new helmet, TLG did a great job on it. The small set is alright, but it has that cool alternate Starlord outfit and it reminds me of Indiana Jones. Quote
Sam892 Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 You're right, it doesn't . That minifigure should have used a new helmet rather than the overused hood, and the legs could have had the silver details as well. While I agree that the hold doesn't look right, I can understand why LEGO chose it. They most likely didn't have enough budget to make another new mould. I mean we've already got new moulds for Rocket, Nova , Groot, Star Lord ( Helmet and guns), Rohan's helmet and the new gun for the henchmen. Plus we've also got a new mould for Wolverine's mask, so they most likely didn't have the budget left after all of those. Quote
