Venkefedo Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 If LEGO were going to do exclusives again ( which I doubt after the big rigging scandle last year) they would go with figures that won't cost much to produce. Maybe Black Adam or captain boomerang, I can see them going for villains since last year they were all heroes. Black Adam… CMF Elf hairpiece in black with flesh-colored ears? That'd be fun. But I'd much rather they not do any SDCC exclusives again; that's why people turn to the knock-offs, since waiting X years for an actual Phoenix or Green Arrow isn't much better than paying thru the nose for the official ones. Come on Lego, we need more Comic Only sets and minifigures. And frankly, that is probably the only way we get some new minifigs from DC, since they don't really like making movies for their less popular characters. Yes! The Lex Power Suit is a great example… 3 exclusive figs, two major Leaguers… the Super Hero themes have lots of potential, yet too much seems wasted on movies (and Batman). Quote

Lego makes it seem like people only like Batman, and any Justice League member if it's sprinkled within there precious Batman. There has been an influx of TV shows about anyone else other than Batman and Superman, live-action and animated. Kids should know who Bizarro, Brainiac, Sinestro, and Cheetah are due to shows like Young Justice, Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Green Lantern: The Animated Series. They didn't end 10 years ago. There should be no reason why kids don't know anything that isn't Batman or Joker. Sorry, I needed to rant. Let us just hope that this game gives us a breath of fresh air with non-Batman related minifigures. Edited June 25, 2014 by TheLegoExperience Quote
Dharkan Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 And frankly, Batman and Joker actually the least child-friendly DC heroes. Quote
rodrigotmnt Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 I Think that there will be a set Green Lantern and Green Arrow vs Sinestro with some buildable things for sinestro and GL and like a spot for green arrow stay and attack sinestro Quote
Dharkan Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 They need a more vivid trans green if they gonna do Green Lantern abilities. Quote
Zilcho Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Hopefully they do a preview figure, like Azog last year. That way people get something special, but eventually we'll all get it. Quote

This, I think is the best route for LEGO to take when it comes to comic con figures. In my opinion it's a win/win. People attending will still have the chance to get a timed exclusive figure, and still get to brag about having it before anyone making them feel special, and people not attending will still have the chance to get that figure later down the road making them not miss out on an awesome figure. Every figure should be a preview figure like azog so everyone wins Quote
Rinzler Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 THE FLASH PILOT HAS LEAKED! And it's amazing, I would indefinately want sets from it Quote

Venkefedo Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 They need a more vivid trans green if they gonna do Green Lantern abilities. Isn't trans-bright-green vivid enough? I love it for lightsaber blades, far more than the trans-neon-green they used to be. I wouldn't mind seeing it… and building a trans-bright-green boxing glove would be pretty fun! Hopefully they do a preview figure, like Azog last year. That way people get something special, but eventually we'll all get it. StarLord1987 Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Not sure if I talked about this but in Diney's marvel licensing expo, there was a poster of the current shows on disney xd, avengers assemble in the left and spiderman in the right, in the middle.. Our first look at the gotg cartoon!! They seem to be based on the movie's design In the title banner, there was Marvel Wolverine!! Maybe a show with his history and maybe it could include the x men, Whho knows? Fingers crossed Quote
Omega 8 Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I just finally got the Arkham Breakout set this week and as I was building it, it dawned on me that Bats above all other super heroes is best suited for LEGO. The Supes sets were pretty meh, and while I like some of the Guardians sets, the possibilities with Bats are endless. I agree that it gets irritating with 400 Batmen and 200 Jokers coming out every year though, but I don't see it changing ant time soon. Quote

There's a reason why most people are tired of batman sets. DC isn't held up by batman, (although they like to push that...) time for other characters to get out there in Lego form. Quote
Dharkan Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Seriously, how Batman is best suited for LEGO? You're just talking about your opinion without giving any reasoning. Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Question for you guys who have Knowhere Escape Mission: does Groot use normal ball joints or mini ones like the Mixels? I'm thinking of ways to make him shorter. Quote

8BrickMario Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Bats has also worked in blue, and very, very, dark blue. But be it Batman, Spiderman, or Superman, all heroes have great potential in LEGO sets. There are tons of heroes and villains, but LEGO is just starting to release new characters (Batgirl, Damian, Man-Bat, and some of Spidey's team) but not enough yet. All of the characters are well suited for the theme except the (dark ones that aren't LEGO-friendly) but so few of the characters have appeared. Quote
montgocloud Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 (edited) Just a small remark on the winter released DC sets. I recently had the (mis)fortune of watching the direct-to-DVD animated feature "Son of Batman." It features Damian Wayne AND Man Bat prevalently. Probably where the inspiration to include those figures in the sets came from. Edited June 27, 2014 by montyofmusic Quote

Captain Nemo Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Well, the first episode of Batman: Animated Series is Man Bat too. That's true, although that episode did air 22 years ago, over two decades...wow that's a long time...I love that show. Nonetheless it seems very plausible that DC requested Damian and Man-Bat as figures to tie in with the Son of Batman film--or just as likely, I believe, is that DC is starting to scrape the bottom of the Bat-Family barrel just to keep the sets Dark Knight centered. Faefrost Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Seriously, how Batman is best suited for LEGO? You're just talking about your opinion without giving any reasoning. Batman is one of the few heroes that has a deep recognizable varied pool of things like vehicles. Swooshable stuff. That is a prime driver of toys, especially Lego sets. "Where does he get those wonderful toys?" Quote
Dharkan Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 On that aspect yes it made perfect sense now. What I understood from that post was "as a superhero" he was most suitable. Because the reason why I resisted is that as a superhero, Batman is one of the darkest of them all. Quote
Venkefedo Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Seriously, how Batman is best suited for LEGO? You're just talking about your opinion without giving any reasoning. As I understood it, I'm guessing he's referring to the near-infinite variety of bat-themed vehicles TLG can produce for Batman sets. Batmobiles, Batboats, Batwings, Batcycles, Batsubs, Batcopters, BatUVs, Batsubs, Battanks, Batsmartcars, Batsegways, Batrockets… large, small, Arctic, black, dark blue/gray, they can always come up with a new iteration to fill out a set. While the potential for minifigs is tremendous even when you step out of the Batman area, it becomes a little trickier to fill out a set. Not many other superheroes have as much in the way of easily-identifiable transportation or home bases. Sure, with enough digging you can find all sorts of goofy vehicles for Spider-Man, Green Arrow, and Superman…but would it be worth making a set built around it? I think probably 'yes', tho they'll be awfully silly (like Superman's Supermobile--with extending mechanical punching-arms!). In absence of silly non-Bat vehicles or stuff like Riddler's dragster, there's mech suits like Lex's power suit (would be great for Metallo!), there's various City-type vehicles like the armored truck in the Doc Ock set for bank heists & the like, but I imagine it's more of a challenge to craft compelling sets in various sizes around all those characters. With Batman, it's easy: hero, villain, maybe a sidekick and/or henchmen, maybe a colorful enemy vehicle, and some Bat-vehicle. Rinse, repeat. Nonetheless it seems very plausible that DC requested Damian and Man-Bat as figures to tie in with the Son of Batman film--or just as likely, I believe, is that DC is starting to scrape the bottom of the Bat-Family barrel just to keep the sets Dark Knight centered. I don't think it's scraping the bottom of the barrel… Damien or not, it's a "kid" Robin in an actual set, no leg-swaps needed, easily used as Dick, Jason, or Tim if you prefer. And after Monster Fighters & the Bat CMF, Man-Bat's an easy reuse (unless they make some sorta dragon-men in a future theme, those arms aren't likely to get a whole lot of use after this!). Quote
8BrickMario Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Damian is here because of the New 52. Nightwing and Batgirl are designed that way because of it as well. They're trying to keep the designs of their sets current (like Arkham City Freeze and Robin last year) to pull in more audiences. Man-Bat could be made because of the wings, so they used the ears and torso with brand-new printing to let us have Man-Bat. And they are giving us new characters, so we should be thankful for having new ideas now that the LEGO Batman rehashes are done, and new JL members are more likely now, too. Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I think probably 'yes', tho they'll be awfully silly (like Superman's Supermobile--with extending mechanical punching-arms!). I actually think that would be a fun set, especially if they throw in a new villain and Justice Leaguer. It's still better than a Spider-trike. Quote
