Navy Trooper Fenson Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Did we get any leaked photos of the Riddler Chase #76102 before Comic Con last year? Yes we did, it was in the 2013 thread around March/April/May but everybody laughed it off because the set is so crappy that we mistook it for a crappy LDD/CGI-made fake. The rumour about this tumbler containing Minifigs really sounds fishy to me. From the idea I've got of this set is that it will be a large, not to Minifigure scale set that won't come with play features and is just for display. So why would it have minifigures? They serve no purpose being there. Star Wars Super Star Destroyer Executor includes 5 figs, justification was a removable roof in a very small section where it kinda looks like the commando bridge. UCS Millenium Falcon had 5 figs even though the only interior were two seats in the cockpit. Both UCS X-Wings and the R2-D2 statue came all with R2-D2 minifigs. It isn´t far off, especially when that Joker is so popular. Better put him in a 200$ collectors set so neckbeards can pay premium instead of a 40$ regular toy set. At least it would be better than a Comic-Con raffle prize. Quote

BrickyNolan35 Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Scarface is cute! The normal-sized fedora on his microfig head is goofy, but I like it. Great reuse of the CMF Grandpa bald-piece, too. The way the gun is held is probably just artistic freedom though, and not what we'll be getting in a physical release. With Green Lantern appearing in the same comic with them, and knowing that Hal is sure to pop up next year, it's certain now that the puppetmaster and his extra-large dummy are appearing in next year's lineup. Scarecrow too, by the looks of it. Actually, pairing the Scarecrow, master of fear, with the Green Lantern -- whose weakness is the color of fear -- is a good idea. It's a shame we won't be getting any Lantern villains that way, but with the current trend of JL members facing off against appropriate Bat-villains (Aquaman versus preserving fish meat and the Flash against a guy who will make a riddle out of a banana), a set with that set-up fits perfectly! Where the Ventriloquist will pop up, however, is yet to be seen.. EDIT: Almost forgot to mention the DKR mutant having a cameo in the background! Nice touch. It be great to have the DKR mutant come in a set to use his head for cyclops Quote
TheBuoyWonder Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 What is a dkr mutant? In the graphic novel "The Dark Knight Returns" there is a gang known as "The Mutants" that minifig resembles a member of the gang. Quote

Owning all of the batmobiles, I honestly think that 76012 is one of the best batmobiles we've gotten so far. 10179: UCS Millennium Falcon's cockpit is four-seated. Only Sinner Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 I would be perfectly content with a D2C Tumbler. That means I can easily resist the compulsion to spend $200+ on LEGO. Thank you TLG for not enabling our addiction! Quote

Thank you TLG for not enabling our addiction! Word! A UCS Superhero set wasted on half a kilo of a black wad of bricks with wheels. For half the $$$ I have a minifigure-scale Tumbler from Artifex. Just as detailed and actually fits with the rest of my Lego collection. Edited July 5, 2014 by Colossus Quote

montgocloud Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 I think we might see a Ventriloquist and Scarface, honestly. Why else would they go through the trouble of using a B or even C-string villain? Just a thought. All this talk of a Tumbler is getting me woefully unexcited. It's too small to do a large figure based set and a larger-than-figure scale set would be pretty boring to be honest. The Tumbler is really just a black box with some weird angles and ridiculous wheels. Quote
SMC Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 I wonder if someone at lego is reading all this tumbler talk and thinking maybe we don't need to make so many after all, maybe we should number them that always makes it sell Quote

I agree it would make more sense to just use the more characters kids would know better if they weren't going to use them in any way. Also, yes I agree wholeheartedly that a non-figure scale set isn't on my list. To be honest, a Marvel D2C sounds more like something I want at this moment. Why can't Marvel get on the action? SMC Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 BrickLink isn't an option for you? Well I don't get figs on bricklink I wouldn't stop if I ever started and I have a £10 limit on exclusive minifigure polybags, I think this one would go well over my £10 limit if there was only 2 figs in a £200 set Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I might be wrong, but I don't think those leaked until a while after SDCC. Well, I remember it very clearly. I even made a post back when the reveal was and mentioned that we already saw the pics but everybody (even myself) were just rejecting them as badly made fakes back then. When I was searching for the exact posts of the leaks I couldn´t find them through the search engine nor through looking at all pages of the March/May period. Maybe a mod deleted them after nobody was looking at them but I am certain that we all saw them around March to May 2013. Guy who gave the pics even said we shouldn´t be surprised when they appear at Comic-Con San-Diego. Owning all of the batmobiles, I honestly think that 76012 is one of the best batmobiles we've gotten so far. The picture was in a weird glossy/computerized style. Like those pics Lego makes for CMFs but rendered rougher. I think everybody was also just looking at the Riddler Mechanic fig and Dragster which are unpopular choices and some people probably thought it was fishy because of the orange parts since nobody knew or cared about Beware the Batman at that point and didn´t know they were accurately colored. Numbuh1Nerd Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 In that comic the Flash didn't have the white backing to his symbol, just red. Kinda like the Flash costume from the new series... It was probably just a coloring error, but a boy can dream *sigh* I have a slight feeling that that mutant might make it in a set as a generic goon. Quote

I would be more likely to get the whole set then pay £20 for one fig, I do like black so......... I really hope it doesn't come with anything good Quote
Pulp Detective Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I think we might see a Ventriloquist and Scarface, honestly. Why else would they go through the trouble of using a B or even C-string villain? I swear if next year we get Ventriloquist and Scarface and not Green Lantern or Green Arrow I'll get really angry with a certain toy company. Quote
Im a brickmaster. Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Honestly? I would WAY rather get a FireFly from the new game (based on The Batman) or even Green arrow or Grundy for Pete's sake, before I got a fricken scar face and ventriloquist fig! I'm sorry, but if you put two sets in front of a fairly smart kid and one had Ven&Scar and the other had more interesting looking figs what do you think they would pick? Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Killer Moth, Mad Hatter and Clayface should take precedence over V/S. Quote
Sam892 Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 While it's not actually LEGO I managed to get a LEGO Flash LED keyring. He's awesome even if he is a bit too big for a keyring. I've started to see The Green lantern one pop up online on eBay and a few other sites, but he wasn't in the LEGO store with Flash and the others. Anyway the Flash LED is certainly worth getting even if it's just to make Flash light puns, never getting bored of those. Quote

Numbuh1Nerd Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I'm thinking Firefly will show up in the new wave. LEGO has been showing him off quite a bit lately. Even then, Scarface and the Ventriloquist are far more interesting character(s) than Firefly. I think we'll likely see those 2, Firefly, and Green Lantern in the next wave. Hopefully Green Arrow, Sinestro, and Grundy as well, but they're less likely. Quote
montgocloud Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) I swear if next year we get Ventriloquist and Scarface and not Green Lantern or Green Arrow I'll get really angry with a certain toy company. LEGO is really not to blame for what figures they do or do not include, that decision usually goes to the license. I would forward all planned angry emails to DC. To be honest, a Marvel D2C sounds more like something I want at this moment. Why can't Marvel get on the action? I know, right? There are so many locations in the Marvel universe that would make for great sets. Avengers Tower! The Helicarrier! The X-Mansion! I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but really. Marvel needs an exclusive. Please? I'll even take, I dunno... Bruce Banner's hideout in India? Not really. Edited July 6, 2014 by montyofmusic Quote
slugdude Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) I doubt we'll see Ventriloquist in a set any time soon. My prediction for the next DC Batman wave is sets based on the game with new, gimmicky batsuits, a new Joker, maybe the long-awaited Green Lantern and possibly some old characters in their New 52 outfits. Regarding the D2C tumbler, the Dark Knight trilogy is long gone so I see no point in making another disappointing tumbler. A Heath Ledger Joker is even less likely as his design is not exactly kid-friendly and another movie Batman (that would probably still be grey as the black version was an exclusive) would be useless as he is already available in another set that isn't grossly overpriced. Hopefully the Lego Ideas Xavier Institute will at least pique TLG's interest in the X-Men franchise because I doubt it will be put into production (especially because it's up against ANOTHER Batman D2C). However, I suppose a man can dream Edited July 6, 2014 by slugdude Quote
