^My theatre applauded, but the post-credit scene got some audibly confused reactions and groans. I think I involuntarily let out a "what...?" myself. I hope that Marvel treads no farther down that path.

Agreed that the Lego sets were almost perfectly spot-on! As far as Groot being huge, it does happen in the movie, so I think the size is accurate, but it seems like the figure itself is awkwardly built (I don't own it, so don't know for sure).

Drax' color is not exactly accurate (but in order for that, they would need to bring back old dark grey, and then make it slightly lighter anyway), but the detail on his torso absolutely nailed it.

The ships, everything. While watching the movie (which shows how nerdy I am here), I kept thinking how TLG must have had access to a lot of official concept art early on, and that Marvel must have learned their lesson on the IM3 tie-ins. Now I just have to find enough money to get all the sets...

The reason why Lego Groot is as big as he is, is so that the Rocket Raccoon minifig would fit on his shoulder. It really is that simple. If anything, people should be complaining about how big minifig Rocket is because that's precisely the reason why we got the big Groot. I don't mind Rocket's size nor do I mind Groot's because I'm just happy we got something. After getting nothing from Dark World and Winter Soldier, it's nice to get some rad GOTG sets.

They definitely could've taken the Gollum route with Rocket and made an entirely different mold which would've been okay.

Also, according to James Gunn, Drax was purposely made a muddier grey to make him appear more dark and dreary because of his traumatic past. Another reason is so the audience wouldn't confuse his visual similarities with the Hulk. Lego did an outstanding job with the Drax minifig.

I saw the movie a few days ago and noticed that The Milano is actually blue and orange. I've seen the Milano toys including the non-Lego ones and noticed that they are all blue and yellow, does anyone know the reason behind this?

Its an orangish yellow, but lego doesnt have the resources to creat all those parts in that color.

Saw the film sets are accurate, except a few things.

The Star blaster. Final battle so Quill's outfit is wrong.

Knowhere, Groot wasnt in the fight, Nebula never engaged him or the Sakaaran never used a gun, Gamora had the orb not Rocket.

Milano, Ronan never had his personal Necrocraft.

Yeah... but at least we got almost all the main characters. I really hope the Marvel set in the winter wave is the other warbird. It can come with red suit Rocket, Yondu & Korath. BAM!!!

Oh I would love that. The only other set I want (but is impossible due to SDCC) is a $20-30 Collector's...collection room place thing with Collector, black suit Gamora, his assistant, and maybe even the controversial after-credits character.

Howard has been a gag since Disney bought Marvel. Along with this movie he has had an appearance in the Marvel game (Along with a pretty funny achievement, and a short on the Marvel website. He is the perfect character to add just for gags in a set. I know I would buy it.

I would love to also see Yondu, though that thing on his head might be tricky.

They'd have to made a new mold for him. That's probably why we didn't get him in a set.

After watching the movie, I wished they made a Yondu figure...

I was surprised we didn't get him. He was in it just as much as Nebula and more than a Nova Corps member..

I agree, and yet we got a SDCC the Collector exclusive.... That's the Lego group for ya!

So I already decided I'm picking up the Milano soon but do you guys think I should get Knowhere Escape too and just get the entire team in one go? Is the Knowhere Escape good?

Personally, I got knowhere just for the figures. And there was a 20% off coupon off of toysrus at the time of retail price

The Milano is actually Hazmat/Wolverine yellow, so it's on the orangey side. I just finished building it and while I got the set for the phenominal figures I love the ship. It's even got the walkman player in the back!

Found something interesting. The description for Knowhere Escape Mission on S@H says this:

Nebula minifigure and the Groot figure are brand new to LEGO® Super Heroes and exclusive to this set!

I'm interested because they don't mention Rocket being exclusive to the set, so could this mean he will be in another set? Maybe his SDCC variant?

Remember Lego makes things based on the information given. For whatever reason Michael Rookers Yondu was a character that the film producers kept a little closer to the vest. They showed some shots of Rooker himself but there was always the question of finished effects, such as would he have the classic comic fin. I think Yondu was a character that they were planning on using some digital enhancement and the look was not finalized until later in the game.

Whereas we had fairly good art and publicly known designs on Nebula for well over a year now. The same with Nova corp. those designs were nailed down pretty early.

Knowhere escape has fantastic figs. As for the rest? Rockets mining pod is an absolute delight, as is Groot (in case you don't consider him a fig). The rest of the build with the platform and little catapult is nothing we don't all have dozens of.

I haven't seen the movie, so I can't attest to any details there. But I was interested in all of the figures too. Obviously, I know which sets to get to get the whole line, but does anyone else find it strange that it is typically cheaper/just as cheap to buy the full set vs just the minifigures on eBay/bricklink? I find that strange. I might as well give my money straight to LEGO and get all of these extra bricks instead of just buying random figures online.

And I think the Milano has the colors from Chima. Flame yellowish orange is the official name.

Well technically Rocket isn't exclusive to that set since he is also in the SDCC set despite it not being available to the public.
