It came out a few weeks ago that most of the Comic Con Exculsive figures were meant to be in a Superheroes CMF wave.

Can we get a source for that?

_____

The lego movie cmf figures, seems to just be new cmf's thats in the movie before elsewhere.

Lego is still doing their cmf MMO and there'll be a CMF series where ever fig comes with a code to unlock it in the game.

It was mentioned on All About Bricks. Of course, it's not like 100% confirmed to be true, but All About Bricks rumors have always been right, then again, there's really no way we'll ever be able to confirm this.

I don´t really believe this site since the San-Diego figs are way more lazily designed than regular CMFs (Black Suit Spidey is just Venom with a new head and Spider-Womans body seems more in line with the way LEGO designed figs in 2002) but regardless of LEGOs old plans it looks like Hero CMFs would be a good AND realistic idea. LEGO has way too many characters on their hands and can´t release them all in sets, and releasing them would be profitable. If comic nerds already buy countless Hasbro actionfigures for 20$ a piece what would keep them from minifigs for 3 or 4$?

Let alone that Megablocks did it already when they had the license, so there can´t be that much legal mumbo jumbo than with LEGO Star Wars where it is explicitly forbidden: http://www.toywiz.com/marvelmegablokpacks3.html

I don't see them doing that to be honest. They are making a lot of money by including certain figures in sets. Doc Ock, Hulk, Flash and so on...

Why only make a profit off a $4.00 purchase when you can make a profit off a $20.00 and up purchase? I could see them doing this if the sets were not really selling, but by all accounts, they are very popular. I would much rather the CMF's start with sets, like a Police wave, a Hospital wave and so on.

Maybe if they did a superhero cmf series, then they can have the figs in the sets be in the series so then we can actually get good builds like the first and not another golf cart with a flamethrower. They could do that or they can have completely different figs in the cmf series and if they have overlap with the sets then they can be more detailed in one or the other, or the overlap would just be figs everyone has like Batman, the Joker, Spiderman, etc.

But that´s the thing, they can´t just put everybody in sets. The CMF line could be used for some minor costume variations of main heroes (Iron Man suits before the triangular chest piece, Comic/60s Versions of Thor and Captain America) and b-list characters that wouldn´t be enough to carry a set with their name only but could proof interesting to children for their designs/costumes (Booster Gold, Beta Ray Bill, 100 characters from the LEGO Marvel game).

Specific to your example they would only release USM Doc Ock (already done) and an Amazing Spider-Man Ock (if he appears in one of the films) but the comics Doc Ock with a green/yellow armor or a labcoat like in the trailers for the Marvel LEGO game would be perfect for the CMF line. New 52 Flash would be for a set but variations like Flashs sidekicks, Golden Age Flash and Zoom will never appear in a set unless they will have a big role in some upcoming movie or show (which won´t be for the near future) and when the set with Flash is out of circulation they could do a costume variation of him like DCAU Flash, then he wouldn´t conflict with the bigger purchase anymore.

Hey, the golf cart was the best thing about this years line.

Overlapping seems like a fine idea too. CMF Spidey could have his red stripe on the arm and some boots. But this would make the pool of characters that make people buy the sets smaller. But on the other hand, Spidey and Batman are people that are already in enough sets that they wouldn´t be an argument to buy a set anyway.

Exactly, how many of us would buy a CMF made up of Avengers or X Men or Alternative universe Heroes and villains (Ultimates, Exiles, Age Of Apocalypse, Future Imperfect, Marvel Zombies, Squadron Supreme, 2099, Days Of Future Past...) or maybe even a Series devoted to a particular popular hero, like Wolverine or Iron Man, or army builders, like SHEILD agents, Hydra Goons, Aim Goons, Mandroids, Guardsman, Kree, Classic Skrull's, or Shi'ar?

Truth is, as others have said, there are literally hundreds of thousands of characters, not to mention the variants. It would also take pressure of the market, I mean, have you seen the prices of some Superhero minifigs compared to the sets? You can practically buy a loose Quinjet for £30-£40. And I have to admit, I spent £1,000 buying Marvel Legends, so I can only imagine what I'd spend on CMF.

That's interesting about the comic con figs, one explanation on the topic of Spider-Woman is that she was based directly on the prototype, and that they would of improved her latter.

If TLG releases super hero themed CMF lines, I will spend so much on them, I might get a divorce. I can't even imagine...getting all those minor-ish characters would be wonderful and the extras would most likey have great parts for making purist characters of anyone they missed.

You all have been DYING to here it for the past month, so here it is! From All About Bricks, here are the rumors for the 2014 Marvel sets (and another DC set)...

There will also be two sets featured in the new LEGO Juniors line (like that name ever needed resurrecting…), targeting the characters at a younger audience. One will be a Spider-Man car and include Venom, the other will be a simple Batcave including Batman, Robin and the Joker.

For Marvel there will be three Spider-Man sets, including additional heroes and villains, released in March. There will also be two sets based on The Avengers.

In July there will be more Marvel sets, this time based on Guardians of the Galaxy and X-Men to coincide with the release of the respective movies.

Umm, what the HECK? This is gonna be a weird year if these are true... I mean, AAB is always true but this sounds crazy. I'm guessing the Avengers stuff will be Captain America stuff? I don't know what to think. It's good news, but may be just2good to be true.

The Junior line will hopefully mean that 2014 sets will be a little more complex than last year's sets.

Why 5 for Marvel and 4 for DC?

Oh and yay GotG sets! Nothing on Thor 2.

We will definitely get the big fig Goblin in one of the sets.

Can't wait for pics!

Ah, good observation on Thor 2! Maybe it will be the Avengers stuff (a Thor 2 set and Cap 2 set)? I still don't think we'll get a bigfig Green Goblin, but that's just me.

Also, keep in mind it's 5+ sets for Marvel. We're not sure how many sets we'll get for GotG or X-Men.

Fantastic! Great news about the sets, looks like as others have said the Avengers sets will be a Thor and a Captain America set. Great news about the X-Men and Guardians Of The Galaxy sets as well, I'm more a Vance Astro/Nikki/Starhawk/Yondu/Martinex/Charlie-27 person, but that's what customization is for.

Well I hope we'll get at least one set based on the new Captain America movie since I'd love a movie version of the Winter Soldier. And I cant wait for the new X-men sets.....I'm already imagining the movie version of Wolverine on Lego form

I'm sure it's Marvel & DC themselves pushing all of their movie collateral across all licenses... But I can't help feeling it's a totally wasted opportunity that we keep getting so many movie adaptation sets and not enough comic sets. We have an opportunity for so many iconic uniform designs that would look perfect in minifig form (Wolverine, Deadpool, Magneto, etc) and instead we get forgettable Hollywood costume designs (Mandarin, Hawkeye, even Doctor Octopus). Maybe I'm a purist, but force-feeding all of these watered-down, convoluted figure designs just keeps me wondering what might have been.

Are you telling me there will be more than six sets next year, and instead of fully taking advantage of this, they still release three Spider-man sets? It would be great to have three sets for CA:TWS, three for GotG, another three for X-Men to coincide with the release of DoFP movie, and one with Spidey; 10 sets would be just right, neither too much, nor too little. I also hope this year's sixth set that still remains secret will be a Thor 2 one, or maybe they will surprise us and we will get three sets like we did with Iron Man.

Also, I don't get this Junior thing. It's all quite underwhelming news. :sceptic:

I think the two Avengers sets in January will be one Thor and one Captain America. The Captain America movie has several other Avengers characters in it. Those two movies can cover a lot of Avengers stuff.

An X-Men set tied to come out around the time of the X-Men movie does not mean that it will be the movie version of the characters. My preference is that they keep with the comic version or the 90s cartoon show version instead. The Marvel game showed that version of characters.

I wonder if the LEGO Junior sets will be similar to the simple My First LEGO builds. They are in the LEGO system instead of Duplo but are cheap and very easy to build. If the minifigure prints are as same quality as the other superheros that can be a cheap way to get some more figs.

Still this is exciting news after a lull in LEGO Marvel news.

Thrilled about the Marvel line up! Spider-Man? GOTG? Avengers? X-MEN?! SIGN ME UP!

Now will the Spider-Man and X-Men sets be comic based or movie based? Has LEGO required the rights to the Fox X-Men movies? Was it negotiated in during the Simpsons license contract? Only time will tell...

Is it still possible for an exclusive set to be unveiled for this years winter line up? Also who is to say that these spiderman sets aren't going to be from the ASM2?

The simpsons was practically handed to LEGO by the animation studio of Fox, X-Men wouldn't fall under that. I bet it will be comic sets released around the same time as the movie.

For Spidey, i'm going to guess that one of the sets will feature that Green Goblin figure and then the other two might be ASM2. Avengers might be based on the cartoon or it could be TWS or TDW sets, or a combo of both.

This sounds great. Will the junior line be counted as the regular line? Because that would mean it would take up the amount of sets they would make. Oh well, as long as the X-Men sets are comic based, and they release good quality sets (at least one non vehicle), then no complaints from me. But finally some more X-Men
