wesker Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 (edited) After thinking about it some more I suspect we'll see the Marvel game's version of Storm in a set next year (We are rumored to get an X-men set I recall). After Aquaman this year we know that if Lego has made that minifigure for real then the actual design sometimes ends up in the game (Scarecrow, Penguin and Mr. Freeze show it doesn't always happen, so take that for what it is). And after looking at Storm she seems like the most likely X-men character from the game that could make a practical figure. First off she has printing that could actually be printed on a minifigure unlike Gambit, Cyclops and many others who utilize crazy amounts of detail including leg printing and arm printing that reach all around. Storm has leg and arm printing, but unlike the others it's pretty simple and we've seen printing like that on actual minifigures (It seems like she was actually designed by TLG, while many of the others seem very much like they were designed by the game company). Second, it suddenly hit me that she is really the only X-men character in the game that doesn't use the 90's cartoon as inspiration (At least as far as I can tell). Why on Earth would all of the games X-men characters be based around the TV series but out of nowhere Storm is not? She stands out as different, so that suggests to me we might see her as an actual minifigure. Really it could be coincidence as well, but I thought I might as well put the thought out there and see if anyone else thinks it's possible. If anything I'm at least curious on people's thoughts as to why Storm's look would be pulled from a source different than the rest of the X-men minifigures. I don't think the X-Men are intended to be based off the animated series but rather their most iconic appearance. In Storm's case she's much better known for her (modern) black costume than she is for the white 90s one. She's not the only one not based off the cartoon though. Archangel uses his X-Force costume while Wolverine has both his Astonishing (similar to the classic yellow one, but not the same) and Classic Brown outfits. Cyclops even has his Astonishing costume in addition to the 90s one. Edited October 27, 2013 by wesker Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I was at Comic Con in London, no new sets were revealed. There was however a stall showcasing the Marvel Superheroes Game, man that looks great! Quote
RelicRaider Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I think the best Cyclops would be him without the hood, and a clip on visor. I know this would mean they would have to make a new hair mould and a new visor mould, but this would make the X Men set with him in a must have for me, Quote
Marvelfan120 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Thought I'd mention, both the spider-copter and the spider trike appear in the Marvel Superheroes game, so we might be seeing some game based sets. Not sure if either of them appears in the USM show, maybe someone who follows the show closely could enlighten me. As for the doc ock truck set I have not found it in the game... yet. The copter actually looks cool but the trike thing looks lame. Might be worth buying if Electro is done well though. Quote

I assumed that it was more based off the cartoon as the colors used on the minifigures appeared much brighter to me than they did in the comics (Professor X's bright green suit comes to mind). But I suppose that really they could be overly bright versions of the comic book costumes. I know there are other variations for Wolverine and Cyclops and so on, but I'm looking at the variations used in story mode which when lined up pretty much pull their source material from one time and place. Storm just feels out of place design wise. And I find it weird that no white suit variation made it in there while the other X-men get alternate suits. Quote

I thought Lego would just put the normal red trike mold in there but this actually at least looks relatively interesting. It reminds me of a very very tall dune buggy to be quite honest. Quite a large vehicle for a £13 set then again this is probably other than the villain the only thing included in the set. Seeing it in gameplay actually the helicopter is quite a cool design can't see myself paying £50 for that alone unless gobby's glider is included. To be quite honest even though I like the ultimate goblin the one in the videogame is far superior and has a cool glider/ design. Quote
Kneel Before Bane Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Hey guys! I was wondering if any of you have played Arkham Origins yet and have thought of any potential sets Lego could make from the game? Quote
Samiens Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I've started it, there could be some great building based sets but (unlike me) Lego tends not to go for them. The Batwing design is really cool though Quote
LuxorV Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Please, keep the possible future sets discussion in the relevant topic. Thanks. Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Have we seen anymore Pics apart from the Batman set with Penguin? :D Quote
just2good Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Have we seen anymore Pics apart from the Batman set with Penguin? :D Sadly, not yet. Or, at least pictures of the sets. I'm sure we'll see 'em soon, seeing how many new pictures of other themes have leaked recently. Quote

spidermanfan99 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 does anyone know when we will see pictures of the marvel sets? Quote
just2good Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 does anyone know when we will see pictures of the marvel sets? If they come out in March, I'm guessing February. Maybe we'll see the Spidey sets at the Toy Fair. If the Avengers sets aren't based on any upcoming movie (like Captain America 2), then I'm sure we'll see those then. We first saw the Iron Man 3 set pictures in February, as they were leaked on Barnes and Nobles online. Quote
SMC Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 (edited) It is a surprise given all the leaks recently that we have still only seen the one set, can't wait to see more. Are we still expecting to get a hulk in a set as I still need one and didn't like the set he is in although the new one might not be any better with the hulk being the main selling point again. Well, we're lucky we got to see that one set. Themes like Hero Factory and Disney Princesses haven't had any sets leaked yet. Yeah, I'm sure Hulk will be in that one Avengers set. It makes sense as he's a popular character, and he has only came in one set, which was back in 2012. Additionally, the set could be branded as a Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H set, which I kind of doubt of, but stikk. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I picked up an extra hulk set on clearance to get him for my daughter. I'm hoping this one will be different so I will buy it. Quote

If the set is based on Avengers Assemble, he will only have a new face and maybe darker coloirs. Edited October 28, 2013 by daniel gourhan22 Quote
Mesonak Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Here's the gallery that I comprised for ease of viewing. I threw the Juniors sets in there as well. I was browsing around looking for them and stumbled across them on http://www.tamayk.com. I couldn't actually find them by searching on the website itself, but rather googling the term: Lego "[iNSERT KEY WORD FROM SET HERE]" tamayk I'm sure you can find pictures for many other themes using that method. I myself only spent the time looking for a few themes. :) Quote

A few observations: - Doc Ock is the the classic version, though still using the same claws as before. - Spidey has a red torso in the Doc Ock set but not in the Electro. Possibly just because it's a prototype, but interesting nonetheless. - It appears to be Mary Jane and Power Man in the copter set! - Nothing new in the Juniors set for Marvel fans unfortunately. - Just a henchman in the Doc Ock set, not Coulson. I can't read the label there, does anyone have any ideas? - Goblin's glider actually looks like a nice design. Doc Ock truck is boring though, same with both Spider-mobiles. - Electro set looks like it comes with lots of electric rod pieces. Overall pretty exciting although nothing too groundbreaking. Can't wait for the Avengers sets to leak. Edited October 28, 2013 by KingPixels Quote

Out of these sets the Electro and green goblin are shaping up nicely... While I'll probably get it I'm wondering what's special about the Doc Ock set. I will also probably pick up the flash set. CM4Sci Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Love the Batcave Junior set! Classic Robin! The Marvel sets don't interest me whatsoever, but the DC ones are amazing! The box change makes them look even better. The big smile on the Steam Roller made me laugh. Scary, huh? -Sci Quote
KingPixels Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Just noticed Man Bat's wings! They are the CMF version. Quote
Moon_Knight Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 (edited) About time we see some pics. Looks like Nightwing is in the batcopter/manbat set with a jetpack sort of thing, Batman's got a crop duster in the Joker Steam Roller set, Spidey's using the copter that he's got in the videogame with powerman as pilot, and ultimate goblin's got a glider (that doesn't make sense). All the Spidey sets are from the television show. No movie sets.... (sigh) I hope that's Damian Wayne in the Steam Roller set :) Edited October 28, 2013 by Moon_Knight Quote
