The_Creator Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 (edited) Ahahaha! Watched the five shorts last night. Thor's helmet/hair is totally epic, and a nice look at Red Skull… Also, I hope TLG/Marvel make a short film, like they did with DC, and include Stan Lee in his Hot Dog stand outfit. Legoman123 Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 (edited) I love the look of the GOTG characters in the game. I hope thats how they turn out when we actually get them in sets. Edited November 6, 2013 by Legoman123 Quote
TheLegoDr Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Those videos were great. Lots of fun. I'd love to see a lot of those figures, including overload variations of Loki and others. The tour Herbert was pretty neat. I actually liked Spider-Man in those, even though I normally don't care for him. Quote
strangely Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 The movie was done by Warner Animation in association with TT Games/Studios which is owned by WB. It´s one thing to have their developer make a game with a rival company (Disney/Marvel) but it´s another one to make an animation film for them when they have their own studios to do so. The reason they did the Batman movie in the first place probably was because it involved basically no effort since they had the game as a base. It´s unknown if Disney could use the game as a base for their movie, too or if they even want to do it. To me it looked like some of the shorts were using the environment from the game, but I could be wrong. Either way I think there's a plan for a movie or something. They've created 25 minutes of shorts, it would be uncharacteristic of Disney to leave it at that. Quote

Piranha Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 This is better. snip That is how Star-Lord looks in the upcoming film? Yeah, I will take the comic book version anyday over that one. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I agree with Navy Trooper Fenson, the movie version looks way better than the comic one (which, in my book, is almost as silly looking as Electro or Rhino ). I have yet to see a comic book adaptation where I prefer the comic version of a character Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 (edited) Personally, I'm hoping for the comic variant. I mean it just looks so cartoony and classic, my Lego Marvel collection already does, and I don't need GOTG ruining that, which is why I avoided the Mos sets anyway. 2014 is nt looking like a good year for superheroes, and I don't think Lego would want to ruin that with GOTG, then again its under Disneys control so... BrickG Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Cartoony and classic would A) Work terribly for a movie and B) Work poorly as a toy representing the movie. Quote

That's not what I mean't, I mean't that comic style would be better for a set, not for the movie!! Haha I totally agree that cartoony and classic would not rub off good on the film, which is exactly (as I've said before) why I don't want them based on the film! Quote
Capt. Redblade Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 It's really bugging me, but I can't tell who voiced Pepper Potts in the videos. I know I've heard the voice before, but for the life of me I can't find a cast list anywhere! Quote

KingPixels Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 His movie helmet looks far better in this picture: And a close-up from ComicCon: Quote
wesker Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I don't mind which helmet we get. The comic version does go perfectly with Lego's style but the movie version looks seriously badass. The other characters in the movie don't seem all that different from their comic book counterparts. Quote

Haha I totally agree that cartoony and classic would not rub off good on the film, which is exactly (as I've said before) why I don't want them based on the film! Which was point B. It wouldn't help, and probably would hurt them if they did the toony look for Lego ONLY. You can pull that with already popular characters like Wolverine who is immediately recognizable in every form. Guardians of the Galaxy? Almost zero known outside of comic people and stuff like that. It would be a marketing mistake that would negatively affect sales, I'm 100% sure of that. Maybe after the movie they'll be known enough to start making toony versions. But for now it's a good business decision to go with the movie looks. Essentially this is their introduction to the greater populace and for toys to sell to that same greater populace you wouldn't want to make them look completely different, unless they're like Wolverine or something already at least relatively popular. Guardians of the Galaxy are by far the least known of all the recent Marvel character movies. They can't take risks. :) Quote
Legoman123 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 How many X-men sets do you think we will see in July? If there is only one or two I hope they will be fairly big. Quote
wesker Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I can see them sticking with two for X-Men and another two for Guardians of the Galaxy. We haven't seen Green Lantern in either the Batman or Lego Movie sets which means there may be more DC sets on the horrizon, so Marvel can't have too many in the next wave. Personally I'd love to get at least three retail sets like the Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel did and a D2C exclusive. The X-Men have been sorely overlooked in this line. Quote

Repeter Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Hey y'all, Netflix and Disney/Marvel just announced a new deal: Limited, streaming series for Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones that will culminate in The Defenders!!! This will happen in 2015, so perhaps this isn't the right place for it. :) Anyway, I always love a possible new source for some sweet minifigs. Quote

Since photography was strictly prohibited at the Lego superheroes display at New York toy fair this year, I assume someone got to see prototype GOTG sets!!! And hopefully no Days of future past, GOTG are understandable since they are sort-of obscure, but X-Men really don't need a whole bunch of jackets and reused hear pieces. I want new mold for Mystic, not another one of Black Widow's hair piece. Quote

New York Toy Fair was back in February, pictures were allowed, and they weren't showing sets off that far in advance. Quote

I think if they showed gotg sets at New York Toy Fair, someone would have said something in the almost 9 months since the event happened. Plus, I remember that we barely even got info on the not yet released Man of Steel and Iron Man 3 sets from the Toy Fair and those only came out 2-3 months later. Quote
