LEGO Family Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 I'm gonna be super pissed if there's no Benny's Space Ship set. I couldnt agree more. However i think that TLC knows all about that. Having animated him as a minifig with a broken helm, and the spaceship poster im pretty convinced we will se a classic space set. Otherwise im gonna return all the rest of the LEGO movie sets i will have bought up till that date. I seriously hope that set will se the surface or i am gonna be so dissapointed and seriously feel that the LEGO movie wave werent concluded. Time will tell eventually. Quote
Lyichir Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 (edited) I think Benny is extremely likely to show up in a set or two. Look at his character bio on the Lego Movie website. The crack in the helmet in the CGI pic to the left doesn't match the one in the movie, and in fact it looks like it could be a new mold meant to simulate a cracked helmet (note that the two cracked ends are "joined", and one end even seems thicker than the other). The print quality on his torso also looks more like simulated wear rather than the more realistic wear in the movie screenshots. EDIT: Also, the left pics in every other instance reflect the set depictions of the characters. For instance, the piece on Emmet's back is attached by a bracket, whereas in the movie screenshots it seems to be fused directly to his back. And Vitruvius' staff is the brick-built one, not the chewed-up lollipop from the movie. Edited December 8, 2013 by Lyichir Quote

That is a very good point, I was looking for a way to bring up the character bio's as a reason to expect Benny, but didn't exactly know how to word it. And yes, the very fact that the characters resemble their set depictions in the characters bio's is reason enough IMO. But doesn't Batman have a bio? Oh please don't tell me we'll get another Batman... Quote
Brickadiergerard Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 That pic of Benny is a very good sign of his appearing as a figure isn't it. The simulated wear on the planet symbol and the moulded break in the helmet make it pretty clear to me that he's coming - there'd be no need to create a different image for him with those changes if he wasn't. I can't wait! He can be introduced to my real 1980 something spacemen. Quote
DPrime Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Looking good for Benny... Gotta admit though, I hope we see some torsos and helmets without the "wear" in whatever sets he comes in. Quote
tafkatb Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Just a thought: what if the lack of Benny (so far) is to avoid spoilers? If he plays a pivotal role in a major plot twist or something, I could see why they'd hold off on sets based on his scenes until the summer wave. Quote
Hewman Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Looking good for Benny... Gotta admit though, I hope we see some torsos and helmets without the "wear" in whatever sets he comes in. The ship (hopefully becoming a set) in the background of his poster has a white minifig with the classic space symbol on it. If you're able to zoom in enough you can see that this is a full and not damaged logo. So for now I'm optimistic that there will be at least one set with classic space minifig that's undamaged. Also the red and white classic space figs appeared in one of the previews, so hopefully they both show up in sets. Quote
Lego Otaku Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 What about the space ship itself? I've seen a few reproduction by creative modders but all of them seems to have a glaring problem: cockpit window in trans-yellow doesn't exist. I'm still wondering if LEGO is planning to release the blue minifig with simulated wear on the logo and a printed "crack" mark on the helmet or if it'd look like new minifig like the collectible minifig set a few years back? A real cracked helmet wouldn't sell right to some people, they might call and complain the helmet arrived broken. Quote

If he plays a pivotal role in a major plot twist or something, I could see why they'd hold off on sets based on his scenes until the summer wave. I actually think we haven't seen him for a different reason: that his set could potentially be a retailer-exclusive (hard-to-find) set. Those are almost always the last sets to show up, since their reveal and release is entirely at the discretion of that retailer. Toys R Us could easily want dibs on a "retro" set like a neo-classic space ship for Benny would probably be. An alternative I've considered for why we have yet to see Benny is that he could be an exclusive fig for something like one of the DK guidebooks. But that's probably less likely, especially considering he has a unique helmet mold. Quote
Piranha Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Those are all very good observations. This "hint" by 1974 (who also brought news on 2014 Trains) is good enough for me though: I would not be surprised if the largest (and yet unreleased) set will indeed be a huge honkin' Classic Space cruiser Quote

Toys R Us could easily want dibs on a "retro" set like a neo-classic space ship for Benny would probably be. I was thinking along the same lines as that, it certainly would be popular. An alternative I've considered for why we have yet to see Benny is that he could be an exclusive fig for something like one of the DK guidebooks. Lyichir Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 That would be a little odd; and has the helmet been confirmed to have the "crack" in it? The one pictured in the bio has a fake "crack" (with the two ends slightly misaligned yet still joined in the middle with a thin groove to simulate the break). Seeing as that unique helmet design is one of our primary pieces of evidence that Benny will in fact appear in a set, I can't imagine he'd use anything but that special helmet. Quote

danth Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I think we all know why Benny's set hasn't been revealed yet. They're obviously bringing back Classic Space. Quote

Amazing Bricks Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Oh thanks, any other new sets in Walmart Canada? Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Great minifigures, although that Blond girl from the Castle set looks so, boring. Her torso is missing something. Quote
just2good Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Oh thanks, any other new sets in Walmart Canada? They have some of the Star Wars stuff up. I really think we'll start seeing early copies of some of these sets leak next week. Toys"R"Us listed them online (not for shipping or anything), but that usually means they've shipped somewhere. Haltiamieli Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Hmm, is that roboskeleton normal bley? If so, it'll be great for statues and reliefs. Sans the robo head, of course. Somehow I've presumed it to be completely of some metallic colour, which is a bit silly of me. Quote
JeagerEX Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 (edited) The LEGO Movie sets are now listed at TRU http://www.toysrus.c...goryId=30411706 But where's the minifigures series? Edited December 16, 2013 by JeagerEX Quote
