Clone OPatra Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 What's updated about JT besides sparkles in his eyes (which the Orient Expedition version already had)? I've got one in front of me and he looks just about exactly like that picture. Maybe the brown lines on the torso are slightly thicker. I think his face is actually a step backwards from the Orient Expedition one, which was really a terrific update on the original (which I always thought looked kind of weirdly flat). Quote

SoupOrFishOil Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I like Johnny's "new" face. It looks good with pupils. Also, it looks like they confused Hal Jordan with Alan Scott. Quote
Cammo Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 (edited) Hmm too many sets coming out for my budget. Really annoyed with the fact that Benny only comes in the spaceship set. To buy list atm: - Cloud cuckoo - bad cop pursuit - lord business evil lair - metalbeard - robot dropship - Emmet's mech ( and maybe the spaceship if I have the funds) Edited December 31, 2013 by Cammo Quote
jamesster Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 The new Johnny Thunder minifigure is so pretty... Accurate to the original, but updated and cleaned up a bit. Aw yes. Quote
Cammo Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Any idea on the summer set prices? Dropship 40 euro Emmetmech 35 euro Spaceship 95 euro Metalbeardship 230 euro? Quote
Clone OPatra Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 That's all. The eyes have "pupils" and the torso is refined. Hmmm. I like the Orient Expedition version much more. Quote
Lego Spy Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I should warn anyone who wants to pick up the Essential Guide, it does include some major spoilers for the film. I'm honestly kind of surprised they released it this early. Hmm, I'm going to see the Desolation of Smaug tomorrow, and there's a B&N right across the street... I don't know, I think I might skip it. Still Raindrop Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 (edited) AFOLs, 2003: "How many Johnny Thunders can LEGO possibly produce? I have an army of Johnny Thunders!" AFOLs, 2013: "Johnny Thunder? AWESOME!" Ok, not entirely accurate, since Orient Expedition had three different updates, but it strikes me as kind of funny (and it was a reaction that I myself had) Edited December 31, 2013 by Mariko Quote
jamesster Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Hmmm. I like the Orient Expedition version much more. The Orient Expedition faces as a whole looked a bit odd to me, the eyes especially. Personal taste I suppose, but I definitely prefer this new version. Quote
Pigbrick Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Thanks for posting these! I love the behind the scenes stuff plus actually seeing some faces behind the projects (besides just the bricks ). Everything for the Movie is looking great Quote
kermit Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Benny`s space ship is a must buy for me. It reminds me of the old classic lego space ships I had from lego in the 80`s and even better its huge. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Wait, so does this mean we will get a flaming red and barf faced Uni-kitty? I want! Also, does this mean we'll get Green Lantern? Let's just hope he's not the only "new" superhero popping up, however I'm sure that if they're were more, they would be in the book, and just2good would have them up by now Oh well, he's exciting nonetheless. Aanchir Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 The Orient Expedition faces as a whole looked a bit odd to me, the eyes especially. Personal taste I suppose, but I definitely prefer this new version. I can agree here. The facial proportions of the Orient Expedition figs were sort of messed up. This fig is consistent with modern minifigures, including those in the CMF series, but still accurate to Johnny Thunder's classic appearance. I can't find a single thing to complain about. Quote

Quesy and angry Uni-Kitty come in Metalbeard's Ship and the Construction Mech respectively. The only other DC Super Heroes showing up in the book are Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Quote
Kez Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Thanks Kez! Here's a few more quick pics. There's more on my Flickr, but these are really just the interesting ones. *snip* I don't have micro lens, and that group photo is oh-so small, but if you click on that picture above it brings you to a much larger version of it. The Johnny Thunder minifigure has updated printing that is awesome (thanks bekindsorewind)! No problemo, hope you had a great day, btw thanks yet again for these new images, perhaps this is the green lantern that we should see this year as I recall brick fanatics reporting that we would definitely get a set that includes a green lantern minifigure. Ooh and a johnny thunder, I havent seen one of these for years, perhaps it would do me no harm in adding another one to my mass army of them, perhaps similar to the harry potter case, but seriously Im glad we should be getting a wave two, I really hope these fly of the shelfs for Legos sake but in some ways I want them on clearance Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Hehehe. The Green Lantern is the SDCC one. Whiiiiiiiich I happen to own. YAY! Quote
obsidianheart Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Hehehe. The Green Lantern is the SDCC one. Whiiiiiiiich I happen to own. YAY! But wouldn't including him in a set negate the exclusivity of yours? Quote
Cult_Of_Skaro Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 So incredibly excited for the new Johnny Thunder. Wonder what my '98 one will think of him... Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 But wouldn't including him in a set negate the exclusivity of yours? The 2011 Green Lantern was not meant to be an exclusive, but a promotional item. But I guess since it was based on a movie, it ended getting left exclusive and from now on, we'll only see comic based Green Lantern. So that wouldn't be ruining anything per say, since it was meant to be an exclusive in the first place, but an item to sort of say " hey guys, you're getting a Green Lantern in the nar future" Quote
Canticleer blues Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Count me in as another guy who preferred the '98 version of Johnny Thunder's face over the '03 redesign. In my opinion, about the only improvement they made on him that year was to add the white 'shine'; otherwise they altered the positioning of his eyebrows and made his mustache less curly, which made the face look worse. (Plus, they gave him an extra vertical line on his chin for some reason. ) This '14 redesign skews much more with the original version, adding only the shine of the '03 version. It's all a matter of opinion of course, but I'm among the ones who think that this version is the best of both worlds. Quote
danth Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Uni-Kitty is rapidly becoming my favorite character. Judging by your avatar I am not surprised. :D I think Lego had Bronies in mind when creating her. Quote
PenPlays Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Following the trend, my first Lego Movie set is Cloud Cuckoo Palace (for the minifigs, of course, including Uni-kitty). I was stunned by the amount of vibrant parts. I'm loving the spearmint color on the castle wall components. The set is rather small, but makes up in minifigs and the overall look of it. Perfect choice for a first TLM set. Quote
Piranha Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 The 2011 Green Lantern was not meant to be an exclusive, but a promotional item. So that wouldn't be ruining anything per say, since it was meant to be an exclusive in the first place, but an item to sort of say " hey guys, you're getting a Green Lantern in the nar future" Technically, 2011 SD/NYCC Batman, Superman and Green Lantern were given away as "Preview Edition" minifigs. The 2012-13 SDCC's identified the minifigs as exclusive to the event. It would be nice to get that Green Lantern in a set. We got the same Superman and TDK Batman in grey instead of black (but this could also have been LEGO trying to make a intended variant). Quote
larsyuipo Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Id like a polybag with johnny thunder and a small car or plane Quote
