Brickset has a review of the three TLM polybags here. I'm not aware of any new ones, though I'd love it if we'd get a Benny polybag. I mean, Benny has a VERY SPECIFIC part, and it often seems that polybags are a means of exhausting limited-use molds. I'm chagrined and disappointed that I need to buy a $100+ set to get him. Heck, if he were on a keychain, I'd get that and clip it to have a cheap Benny.

Heck, I'd love it if Lego would rerelease something like this as a polybag with Benny in it.

Hmm, I wonder which character does the brown/tan build on the submarine "belong" to?

Vitruvius builds the Wild West themed portion, as he first appears in that "realm" in the movie. We'll have to see the movie in order to find out if there is anything else.

I have to remind myself not to look at this thread now, until after I see the movie. With the 10PM showings tonight in the US, spoilers abound...

Went to see the movie and get DJ Robo at AMC, as I don't have an AMC stubs card but my friends do so I went with them. At first we had some trouble at the box office saying the figures weren't for adults but once we got the manager, they changed their minds and gave us the minifigures. I really love the DJ hairpiece and to have it in a lighter haircolor, is just absolutely perfect. Going to the first Regal showing tomorrow at 10am for Pajama Emmet! Bringing my mom and my brother as well.

Also, the movie is perfect, they couldn't have done a better job with it. :D

What about the third from the left top row......you gotta love a girl with a machine gun !

Some of those drawings loom a tad lame......a female answer to the Stig, a ninja, rock star or three.......kind of glad we got the one we did.

A cool interview with VP of Lego Design Matthew James all about the Lego Movie. There are some interesting titbits in the interview about the potential of some sets and what goes into designing them.

· It generally takes 18 months to create a LEGO set with 6-8 months on the actual design side of creating a product. However, Ashton says, “Of course more complicated things, that we need to start on earlier, could vary from 2 years to 6 years depending on what kind of product line it is.”

· One of the reasons they haven’t gone after sports teams or music artists is they are regional. LEGO tries to create with a global perspective. However, Ashton does reveal “It is something that we’ve definitely discussed and we’re not ruling out for the future. It has been talked about.”

· I asked about the possibility of bringing back classic sets like Blacktron, Western, or retired sets. Ashton says that while they have talked about it, the challenge is that the 80s sets might not appeal to “what the kids are used to seeing and playing with now.” However, “we have talked about it, all of these things are coming up all the time internally. It’s something, I think from a nostalgic point of view, it’s great.”

· While LEGO previously did a set for Avatar: The Last Airbender, they have no plans to do The Legend of Korra. :cry_sad:

· The sales on the LEGO Back to the Future DeLorean have been really good. That is one of the reasons they green lit a Cuusoo platform created Ghostbusters Ecto 1. When the Ecto 1 was submitted, it was with the fire station. I asked why they didn’t make it with the station and it came down to price and time. By not including the station, they will be able to get the vehicle into stores much sooner. Also, the price point will be much cheaper. I’d imagine very similar to what the DeLorean sells for (which is $34.99).

· When asked about the possibility of the monorail coming back, Ashton says, “That’s another one where we’ve talked about it and it may, it may not. There’s no final decision, there’s nothing in pipeline on that one at the moment but that doesn’t mean that there won’t ever be.”

· For Simpsons fans thinking you might eventually see Moe’s Tavern or the Nuclear Power Plant where Homer works, Ashton pretty much says it will never happen. His exact quote was, “we try to avoid anything alcohol-related within our products, especially targeting kids. I’m very dubious that that would happen.

Hi guys, since the leaked pics a few weeks ago have we heard any more news on the sea cow?

Actually, Yes we have!

On my recent trip to the Lego store, I asked what price the set was going to be and he went and got the box to show me, so heres what I noticed:

  • This set does include a cute mini version of Metalbeard. It looks rather nice, but it may also be worth getting 70807 as well.
  • Emmet has the same face as he does in 70803 Cloud cuckoo Palace, so it really isn't that exclusive.
  • The box is as big as the box for 10214-1 Tower Bridge, so forget about getting it from the store and just get it delivered.
  • Benny has a double-sided face! On one side of his face he has the open mouth seen on all the promotional posters, but on the other side he has a classic 80's smiley face, so he looks a bit like this but with a cracked helmet.
  • The ship also includes a rather detailed cabin with the same globe element as in 4191 Captains Cabin and some maps.
  • Last of all, we have the price: Amazingly, its only £170 in the UK, which gives you even more of a reason to get it!

Depends on the price in the states. If they do a dollar price = pound price and it's only $170, i'll be tempted to save for the set. but if it's pound price translated into dollar price, that'd be $278 bucks so i'd pass

The predications of the sea cow going for $250+ always seemed way overpriced. There are very few parents who are going to buy a set that expensive for their children. Not to mention the adults who aren't going to spend that on a quirky ship. If it was over $200 I was seriously thinking of not buying it myself. Although my first second wave purchase will surely be spaceship, spaceship, spaceship!

Usually £170 means $170. Not sure if I have ever seen a dollar to the pound price before.

does anyone know when we will learn the price in the states? I have lego project that i am working on and i can't finish the second story(ran out of 8X16 plates), do the roof, or add a gutter until i get a bricklink order done but i only will have enough for the ship OR the bricklink order at this time.

Nice, The Simpsons House was about 179 pounds and the sea cow is 'only' 169 pounds. My guess is that France & Germany will get it at 200 EUR while the Benelux will have to cash in 220 EUR again.
