I just dont get it. How can it be more expensive then the simpson house? -_-

This has been mentioned a few times, but here you go, the Simpson's House is made up of lots of smaller less-expensive-to-produce pieces, whereas the Sea Cow is made of larger pieces, such as the boat hull. :classic:

I see, so that why, thanks! hopefully this will make buying it at that price more justifiable.

My Lego store, talked to the manager who told me they were building the Sea Cow to bring in for display on Monday...they couldn't "tell" me that it was the Sea Cow but she also knew that everyone knew already so it is not a surprise. She confirmed the $250 price but said it was close to 2700 pieces...not sure why, I keep seeing the Spaceship S..S...is March 1, but she said they hadn't told yet, apparently there is a big manager conference in Dallas next week as well where they will find out about stuff. I asked her about the rumored mini cooper, she hadn't heard, but I asked her to find out for me. Going to hold out for the S..S..S, in March.

The press release from the New York Toy Fair's website confirms the USD prices for all three summer releases:

Four additional building sets based on the film will launch later in the year, including Emmet’s Construct-o-Mech ($59.99), Super Secret Police Dropship ($79.99) and Benny’s Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! ($99.99).

For those of you who were hoping that the last three sets for this year were arriving this March.

The tags next to all three sets at the New York Toy Fair slate them for an August release.

That totally sucks. Releasing them half a year after the movie is released would hurt their sales I would think.

The DVD is more likely to release in June, but summer sets usually release around then in Europe anyway.

Actually, the NYTF is usually wrong when it comes to that. Every year ALL summer sets say august, when they're really released in May, June or July.

Thank you for instilling in me hope! I don't think I could survive a wait to August! It would be best if they released their higher priced sets as close as possible to the DVD/Bluray release anyway. It's easier to justify the pricetags when the movie fandom is still fresh.

Come on May! Lets go already!

That's not the only reason I'm excited for spring- it's about 20 degrees out here in NY!

Not if their release coincides with the DVD release of the movie.

but the problem is that not a lot of movies last that long in theaters these days. those other sets won't be out until august(MAYBE late july for early release zones) and there's another 5.5 months until then. odds are that the movie will be on DVD long b4 that point(probably may-ish) and what are the odds of there being as much demand for the sets compared to a summer release in june at the latest?

this whole year of release schedules isn't even making any sense! they've got a january release for some stuff, a second release of stuff in march(i am currently stuck STILL waiting another 2 weeks minimum to get the lego friend animals that i really want), a summer wave of stuff, and now sounds like they are shaping up for an august wave of more stuff!

It is extremely aggravating since there's only a few things that i really want and the major thing is those friend animals.

Which summer sets are you thinking of which are coming out prior to August? It can't be a lot. August is the "official" release date of almost every summer set for the past several years, excluding sets like the CMFs, Friends animal packs, Ninjago spinners and booster packs, and Speedorz that are released with greater frequency. The sets might show up a month or a month and a half prior to that, but August is almost always the release date that's given for those sets at events like Toy Fair.

Also, "August" sets tend to be very successful because a summer release date ensures that they will be widely available in time for the fall–winter Christmas shopping season, the most profitable time of the year for toy sales in general. So it's not unusual at all for a small handful of the LEGO Movie sets to be coming out at that time.

Actually, half the themes are out prior to august. The coast guard sets from last year were out in late May/ early June, and the cargo in July. The only city sets out in august were the town square and coast guard plane. Star Wars does tend to come out in august, but they're on elf the few themes like that, just like how there "winter" sets are spring sets.

not the way i've seen things going around where i am. summer sets come out in june or july(pending the city and store). the way i've seen it done past years, except for friends animals, certain polys, and CMF's is that there's only 2 waves for the majority of stuff. a start of the year wave of sets and a summer release with maybe a few oddball releases

That's not the way it's seen in most countries. I guarantee you all the "August" LEGO Movie sets will be available for purchase in June or July, just like "August" sets are every single year. The release dates given at Toy Fair are not the same as when the sets actually start showing up for sale, which tend to be one or two months before the dates given at Toy Fair.

I was actually at Toy Fair two years ago. My coverage is all linked from this topic. Hero Factory, Ninjago, City, Monster Fighters, Friends, Creator, Star Wars, and Heroica summer sets all had the same exact phrase at the bottom of their info cards: "Coming in August". The only exceptions were things with more frequent release schedules, like Ninjago spinners and CMFs (which had new series scheduled for January, April, June, and September instead), and licensed themes tied to new movies, which were scheduled according to the movie's release date (Avengers in May, The Hobbit in December). Every set actually ended up showing up for sale a month or two prior to its "scheduled" release date.

This year is presumably going to be no different. It started out different, of course, since a lot of sets that would have ordinarily been scheduled for December/January (Hero Factory, Legends of Chima, Star Wars, and Friends animal packs) got delayed to February/March so the LEGO Group could focus their marketing on The LEGO Movie. But now that those sets are starting to show up, everything should continue as it does any other year. I'm quite confident LEGO Movie summer sets will start showing up for sale in June or July, the way summer sets always do.
