SandMirror38 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 For Marvel Super-Heroes they had a Spider-Man keychain, whilst this isn't the same level of excitment it could lead to something Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 So I think I have a list of all bonuses. GameStop pre-order- Western Emmet, $7.50 movie cash Target- Wild West DLC code, $7.50 movie cash Best Buy- Pyjamas Emmet, $7.50 movie cash (they really want people to see this) Walmart pre-order- Radio Robot DJ Quote
Super Goblin Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Pajama Emmet at Best Buy? I'm not seeing that on their website. Quote
???theriddler??? Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 The game is comming out tommorow in the USA and next week in Europe. Why is there like only 1 or 2 trailers for this game. No previews, and no reviews? I pre-ordered the game, but i want to know what i'm going to play, and how different this is from last lego games. Why the bad advertisement? Quote
Savage Oppress Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 the lack of advertising was due to Lego Marvel Super Heroes. If we ever get another advertisement for the game, it will probably be tomorrow, attached to The Lego Movie at the movie theater. Quote
Cammo Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I just watched the walkthrough of the first 4 lvls. It seems that each realm is a mini openworld/large hub. Be warned though, it includes actual clips of the movie. Good thing is that all the original voicework is in there. Quote
Lyichir Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I just played through the first level of the 3DS version and was pretty disappointed. In fact, I feel a little bit cheated, since the Gamestop employee who sold me on the preorder assured me that the handheld versions of the Lego video games were just as good as the home console versions these days—and unless my memory of games like Lego Star Wars and Lego Batman are clouded by nostalgia, this game clearly fails that test by being only slightly better than the Game Boy Advance or Nintendo DS Lego games. I'm going to see if I can make a return, but their returns policy explicitly states that they don't refund you for games that have been opened, so I don't have high hopes. Quote
PenPlays Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Rule of video game thumb: If the handheld game you wish to buy has a home console version, it is guaranteed to be a disappointment. Rule number 2: Gamestop is run by money hungry liars who will lie to you for a sale even if the game is horrible. Dang I hope I can snag a Poncho Emmet for cheap. Don't really want the game, as I'd rather buy the Super Cycle Chase with that money. Quote
SandMirror38 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 :( I never really liked the DS games in general but it's sad to hear it's THAT bad Dang I hope I can snag a Poncho Emmet for cheap. Don't really want the game, as I'd rather buy the Super Cycle Chase with that money. I have a friend who's VERY into computer games so we went half on the game. He gets the game, I get the minifig and the EB World points :P Maybe you should do something similar? I hope I can get PJ Emmet cheap... Quote
Lego Spy Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Rule of video game thumb: If the handheld game you wish to buy has a home console version, it is guaranteed to be a disappointment. I don't mean to go off topic, but that really isn't true. Sonic Lost World was equally as good on the Wii U and the 3DS. Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 So I got it. First thoughts. I'm in the Wild West. Hubs are really nice, was expecting just levels. The PoR is the checkpoint. The whole game looks very nice. Lots of bricks! A LOT of scenes from the actual film. Only 90 characters and 70 Gold Bricks. Stud counter is "The Special" Already found the hidden disco room, in this game it isn't hidden though. Part of the Construction Site level. The Super Cycle Chase is super fun. Quote

I was about where you are when I quit. It's similar to past LEGO games, but different enough to feel fresh. I'm really enjoying it so far! I was concerned when I started the game about the lack of options (resolutions, etc) but you just have to start the game and they are all in the pause menu. It's funny that you mention that, because that was the game I was thinking of in particular Of course, to each their own. Nice to hear that the Lego Movie game is enjoyable. Oh how I miss the day of video-game rental stores! Quote
BrickG Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 since the Gamestop employee who sold me on the preorder assured me that the handheld versions of the Lego video games were just as good as the home console versions these days Well there's your problem. You listened to a GAMESTOP employee. They're basically told to oversell sell sell everything or they get few hours. I don't blame them. The whole company is pretty ethically void. Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Finished the story mode. Yay! So, more info. (Spoilers ahead!) 15 levels as you all expected. Some parts are REALLY drawn out. The 15 second scene where Emmet goes back to Bricksburg is a whole level. Also at the end you fight Lord Business in a cube with legs. Gandalf shows up and fights which is amazing and Lord Business threatens to kill him. After that you have access to most of the hubs. Bricksburg, Cloud Cuckoo, Wild West, Octan Tower, and Finn's Room which really has a Toy Story feel to it. By the way, the Lord Business playable character doesn't have the mech legs. Only one Michelangelo. and it's the artist. Quote
Savage Oppress Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 (edited) I got the game today for my Xbox 360 at Toys R Us, because of their 15 dollar gift card promotion for it. I am thinking of waiting till tomorrow or Monday to play it, because I am seeing The Lego Movie tomorrow after church, and I don't want to spoil the movie for myself. Flipz Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 The 3DS game isn't THAT great, but given my very limited 3DS library at the moment I'm OK with it. The Western Emmet figure was definitely worth it, though. Quote

Yeah, as other's have said, they're business men and women and they're job is to tell you what to buy, not what you shouldn't buy. Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Is Johnny Thunder playable? Come to think of it, no. They wasted like 10 slots on EMMETS! All the different clothes from that one scene, Hard Hat, normal, and Master Builder. AND THE ONE WITH THE FRICKING WHEEL ON HIS HEAD. Quote
Soundmanred Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Finished the game last night. Excellent from start to finish. The last Lego game (Marvel) was the first and only Lego game I didn't finish. There's just too much going on in that game. I liked the return to a more simplistic system that The Lego Movie game has. The LEGO Marvel Superheroes gameplay left a little to be desired. I found running around New York and going back and forth to the helicarrier to be time-consuming and confusing (and I am strictly a casual gamer). Glad to hear that the Lego Movie video game is a little more linear. Quote
Savage Oppress Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Game is fun so far, even a bit funner than Lego Marvel Super Heroes. Game looks awesome on the Xbox 360, with the awesome graphics. Quote
TheRedGuy Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Is the cop chopper or Bad Cop's car drive-able in the game? I really need to get a good look on them so I can build them on LDD. (And later in real life) Quote
