Guess again, it's € 50 in Europe, thanks Lego.

This is not correct. Apparently Lego has decided to offer it at different prices in different countries even within the EU. This is sad.

However, in Germany the set is priced just below 40 Euro (39,99) which in my view is ok value for money.

I have just bought 3 of them in the Essen Lego store :)

Online (s@h) availability in Germany announced for August 1st.

Something must have gone terrible wrong with the prices at LEGO HQ, 35£ in UK, 40€ in Germany but 450 DKK in Denmark that is 50% more than UK and Germany customers from a Danish company!!!:angry:

I was going to buy 2 but at these price differences forget it, I am not going to buy any and will really rethink any future buys from LEGO from now on, this is plain disgraceful and distasteful!!!

Don't forget $69 for Australia!

Since the major factories that produce Lego bricks mainly is in Europe and North america there will probably be some extra transport expenses to the Australian marked which naturally is irritating for Australian collectors, but a 50% difference between Denmark where the largest European factory is and England/Germany is simply a disgraceful price difference because there is virtually no cost difference for LEGO not even the bit higher Danish sales tax can explain this.

If this is not a mistake, LEGO has crossed the line and I will boycot their products from now on, and I would suggest other people in EU that see the same 50% price difference to England/Germany on this product to do the same!!!

I hope LEGO will release more BTTF sets and won't disappoint many FOLs or fans of the movie this time.

That'll depend on sales, I'm sure. The Minecraft set went on to become a continuing product line, so that offers a considerable amount of hope. Though I somewhat wonder what other BTTF sets they could release that would be anywhere near as distinctive and recognizable as the time machine itself. I suppose the 1955 version of the town hall would be quite familiar since that's one of the scenes that's become most recognizable.

Nice review! The comparisons you made have convinced me to buy this set.

And for more sets, I don't think anymore could be released without the Delorean and I doubt lego would include one in every set. Though, I would love to see that train as a set.

MIlton Keynes LEGO store has them in stock. I rang earlier and got them to put one by for me. I've still got £25 in VIP points so that will bring this to just £10. However I most likely wont save anything, knowing me I'll add another set to bring it back up to £35 haha.

Nice set. But I like this Mod better: Seen on 1000Steine.de

I agree that's a nice mod, but I'm pretty sure those tiles are angled via illegal connections.

Although I think it looks fantastic, I won't be getting it, because it would cost $70 dollars from the NZ site, plus a minimum $50 shipping charge. $120 is a bit much.

You got that right. This set isn't worth $35, let alone the highway robbery that non-US residents will have to pay.

Didn't know how to vote it is both poor and outstanding,

Honestly - and I very rarely act this way, really, but honestly... this set is terrible for $35. $25 might make it bearable, but it's a terrible build, IMO, I don't like it at all.

Props to a great review, but I'm left just shaking my head over the result. Cuusoo has been, overall, very disappointing to me.

I think it would be neat to have one of the original sets with the misspelling!

It'll probably be worth more in 20 years.

My thoughts exactly. Guess I'll redeem some VIP points and get it while it's still available.

The binocs on the roof are where the flux (having been, umm,, capacitored ?) is released at 88mph - see the delightful first flight in BTTFp1

It's around 400 pieces. I think $35 is a more than reasonable price for the parts alone, regardless of your opinions on the build or the finished model. Personally, though, I think it's an amazing build with lots of beautiful and advanced building techniques that give it a remarkable sculptural quality without sacrificing playability.

I've realized that if you swapped the 4x8 plate built into the hood for a black one, it'd correct the issue that has been bothering me most, that being the interrupted black stripe on the side. I wonder why TLG didn't do this themselves. It seemingly does no harm to the interior or exterior appearance of the vehicle, and presumably wouldn't add to the cost considerably. Regardless, that's a simple modification and I might do that with my copy of the set, unless for some bizarre reason I fall in love with the look the gray plate gives it after having built it myself.

Taking a closer look at the metallic silver grilles, I noticed a mold difference:

9107537645_3d522b40c6_c.jpg

Some have squarer, thicker edges. This is hardly a disaster, but the difference is particularly obvious in this shiny colour, and requires you to be careful where you place them if you're particular about symmetry.

Rufus; very well spotted on the grille tile mould change, thank you. As my favourite part, any change is very significant to me :O)

But I can't be 100% certain which ones in your pic are the new mould as in my set (and parts collection!) they are all the same. From your pic it looks like 1, 2, 3 and 5 - is that correct?

Got my set today and just finished building it. The picture on the front really doesn't represent or do justice to this model. Although I thought this before, having the model in my hands has really blown me away. The scale is just right and car looks amazing. The only questionable thing to me is the Mr Fusion. Is it really that tall? I always thought it was smaller than that. However this doesn't really change my opinion of this set, it's still incredible.

I was originally disappointed when I heard the news that TLG had redesigned significantly from the original design and as I read the review I was worried - until I saw them side by side. The TLG version is far better and better proportioned. It's also closer to the real shape of a Delorean.

£35 is quite expensive for a car and two minifigs but not expensive enough to put me off!

When I get mine I will be building all three versions and also a standard non-BTTF version of the Delorean too. I will then just have to make a minifig Mike Brewer and Edd China to work on it....

Cheers

Jumpin' Jigawatts! What a great review!

Building the original cuusoo model and doing a direct comparison helped me understand the sloped roof and I now much, much prefer the Lego version. A must-buy for me!

Great review! Thanks! And i'm so glad this idea got through at Cuusoo. I really love this set and can't wait til august the 1st to order myself one!

Hi

any ideas what will happen with the missspelled/missprinted tile?

Will TLG change that or keep it? If they change it, the missprinted part could become a rare colectible item.
