November 15, 201311 yr When are these sets going to be released in the US? And when were the winter 2013 sets released at Toys R Us in the US? Anyone know? It's important. Around mid December in the USA.
November 15, 201311 yr I wonder in that first set DEATH STAR TROOPERS if it is possible to replace the current smaller laser in the Death Star 10188 with that.
November 15, 201311 yr I wonder in that first set DEATH STAR TROOPERS if it is possible to replace the current smaller laser in the Death Star 10188 with that. That Laser reminds me of my beloved Kenner Death Star. (sadly long consigned to the scrap heap of history :_( )
November 15, 201311 yr The amount of iconic non-prequel things is basically zero. I think I'll get that Chewie and maybe that Death Star Troopers thing and skip absolutely everything else.
November 15, 201311 yr I've been waiting to get some royal guards, so I'll get the ds battle pack. I might pick up the battle of Salumecai for the plant pieces, but other than that, pass.
November 15, 201311 yr Note on the 75034 set:Why the Emperors guards have different color on their arms?I mean their suit color is bright red and their arms color is dark red.

Prequel is Iconic. My god, the amount of complaints sicken me! These are some great sets! Don't act like they aren't just because they aren't OT. I will be picking all of these up. This is a great year for LSW!
November 15, 201311 yr Note on the 75034 set:Why the Emperors guards have different color on their arms?I mean their suit color is bright red and their arms color is dark red. Because their arms were dark red in the film. There is nothing wrong with TLGs depiction of the royal guard.
November 15, 201311 yr Prequel is Iconic. My god, the amount of complaints sicken me! These are some great sets! Don't act like they aren't just because they aren't OT. I will be picking all of these up. This is a great year for LSW! Iconic for being a disappointment. I blame Lucas and all the "yes men" he surrounded himself with. To be completely fair it would have been extremely difficult to match the OT but it is what it is. Anyways, the OT gets a lot of big summer sets and the majority of UCS so there's nothing to complain about here. It's the Winter line, sets are normally small. Everyone also needs to remember that there's a generation of kids that prefers the PT/CW and they need their sets as well.
November 15, 201311 yr Keep telling yourself that :). hahahaha. These new sets are ok, nothing really jumps out as fantastic. I'll be glad to get the DS gunners, maybe one or two of the PT battle packs. But thankfully this will be an inexpensive wave for me. I still need to pick up the Ewok Village.
November 15, 201311 yr I wonder in that first set DEATH STAR TROOPERS if it is possible to replace the current smaller laser in the Death Star 10188 with that. It seems that the turret isn't on a turntable like the one in the Death Star, so it would probably look pretty awkward. Iconic for being a disappointment. Everyone also needs to remember that there's a generation of kids that prefers the PT/CW and they need their sets as well. Wholeheartedly agree with that. I only buy OT sets and this fairly barren wave will give me a chance to buy the larger sets I missed out on in 2013! These sets look nice enough and I'm sure the kids will eat up those new blasters (hopefully not literally). Because their arms were dark red in the film. There is nothing wrong with TLGs depiction of the royal guard. I think it looks awkward because, in the film, their dark red arms were almost entirely covered by their bright red robe. A good compromise would have been dark red hands and normal red arms. Edited November 15, 201311 yr by montyofmusic
November 15, 201311 yr I quite like the dark red arms anyway so I'm fine with that. I think I might get a longer grey bar to make it more of a spear on the black sabre handle though. I'm hoping (fingers very crossed) that these are somehow made available at the VIP event next Saturday I'm going to. Mind you it'll be a cheap SW round and more to LOTR if those sets are out.
November 15, 201311 yr Having rewatched the prequel trilogies recently, I don't think they are nearly as worthless as people make them out to be; indeed, there are quite a lot of things that exceed what was done in the original trilogy. Chief among these being the world building; the prequels exist in a much vaster and more fleshed out world than the originals ever did, where the closest thing we saw to a civilization was the militarized death star and some run down rebel bases. I also think the stuff that happens in the Geonosian Arena is some of the best action the series has (wheres are heroic trio vs 3 monsters set, Lego?) I also think that the prequel trilogies work very well conceptually if not always in execution. If you can mentally gloss over the terrible dialogue and acting whenever Anakin is on screen (both as a child and adult) and the stupid physical humor (Boss Nass shaking his head, Jar Jar doing almost anything) they are actually pretty good movies. Hell, even Jar Jar wasn't nearly as annoying this time through (probably because he has much less screen time than the even more terrible Anakin) Also, I've recently started watching the Clone Wars series, and found it to be quite great. The episodes can be inconsistant at times, but they are almost always enjoyable at the very least, and one of the episodes (the assault on Geonosis in season 2) is probably the most exciting action scene of any Star Wars medium that I've seen. I think this series has spurred my desire for AT-TEs and Gunships more than the prequel trilogy has (even if I can't stand the Clone Wars Lego faces!)
November 15, 201311 yr I am not the biggest fan of Star Wars, but I have a few sets, and with this wave I will have some more sets. I will definitely buy the Utapau Troopers, not for the droid but for the figs, Anakin's Jedi Interceptor, as this is the first one for me, General Grievous' Wheel Bike, to get a nice General Grievous and my first PT Obi-Wan. If I have money left, I think of buying the AT-AP, AV-7, Vulture Droid and Droid Gunship, in that order. Almost the entire wave. This is the first I like the most sets of. Earlier waves I only liked 2 or 3 sets, this wave I don't like 2 or 3 sets. Great wave and good job TLG! Edited November 15, 201311 yr by jeroenaa
November 15, 201311 yr edit: better pics. Oh dear! Those blasters are cringe-worthy. Lego really needs to learn the phrase: "if it isn't broken do not fix it!" The figures look lovely and I don't have any of the old rots stuff anymore and that what these sets remind me of. I like that they have finally got a ROTS accurate obi wan Kenobi and the Anakin from the Starfighter is good as it has some good facial expressions and has a parallel with the one from 2012. Grievous is unique which is good to see, I think they mixed up the colours between this and Azog from the hobbit wave though . The troopers are great and Chewbacca is great to see. Of all the material left in season 5 of clone wars they chose to make a set of something from 5 years ago! Really! I guess that fits in with TLG logic though . I like the new Chewbacca and other wookies and the death star pack. Shame the battle packs are let down by those ridiculous blasters. Salucemi looks like a terribly made custom made set, in fact a custom set would probably look better. Not the best January wave I could imagine shame no set with ROTS palpatine VS Yoda yet. I'm crossing my fingers for one in the summer line. I think however I'll save my cash for superheroes until I see something star wars that impresses me...
November 15, 201311 yr There was a rumor that there would be a droid tri-fighter with a rots palpatine in it a while ago. I think there is a mistake because somebody may have mixed up the tri-fighter for emperor palpatine's shuttle. Both of them have 3 wings in similar places, so in a prelim it could easily be confused. And i'm still waiting on the coruscant police gunship.
November 15, 201311 yr This PT/OT bashing has gone on long enough, it seems to get worse every time a new wave is rumoured. If you don't like it fine, move along, others like it and to them it is their generation's SW, the OT suffered some of the issues that the PT did, I think some people look at this through rose tinted glasses. I grew up with the OT and was lucky enough to be in University for the PT, I like the films for what they are, I think that is where most people should leave the debate.
November 15, 201311 yr Okay, I don't care which side of the OT/PT/CW/ST/SW/EU debate you fall on, but if the discussion doesn't concern the 2014 sets, it doesn't belong here. Discussion of the balance and selection of sets and reason for that: good. Discussion of which part is more iconic, which part has the better story, which part has the better characters or acting, which side has more potential for sets: doesn't belong here. Furthermore (and I'm not saying this is or isn't happening right now) rants and/or personal attacks concerning the OT/PT debate have no place on EB.
November 16, 201311 yr This is a great year for LSW! I wonder what would you call 2009 or 2010 then...
November 16, 201311 yr The buzz droid looks better than previous versions, be nice to get. Few in the set too. The cannon hasn't sold me completely although to get more wolfpack figures is always welcome too.
November 16, 201311 yr Next year may be the first year I bricklink a minifigure from n actual set. I'll only buy the battle of Saleucami, and maybe 2-3 Volture droids (for army building purposes) and just bricklink the astromech droid, as it resembles the female one R-2 was with in the Yoda Chronicles (which seems to give sneak peeks at future minifigures). I bet Chewie will be used in the summer wave, which is why I'll be passing on him now. And I may buy the DS BP in 2015, and save money to catch up on more sets next year. Not the best wave ever, definitely a let down considering how good 2011's, 2012's, and 2013's winter waves have been
