ChiefPie Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Can't wait! And I want the ISD since I didn't get it last time.. Quote
legos486 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 So are the sets from 75056-75058 the exclusives possibly? Its 3 so I would think there's a walmart toys r us and target exclusives. Quote
Darth Malgus Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 None of those 3 have. Been sighted on shelves where the sets have been out for approx. 2 weeks. I assumed they'd be the exclusives and ordered them off S@H. Quote
Zzz Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 I had the chance to see the new sets in person and I am honestly a bit underwhelmed - no, I am not trolling. They all looked really final. Sets, minifigures, packages. All of them seemed to be pretty final. Snowspeeder is still the same old 4500 set with very little, very minor changes but it is sort of even bigger and more bulky. When 4500 was already too big compared to the source, it is even bigger now. Luke, Dak, Snowtrooper. Nothing else, no turret, nada. Rebels sets were demonstrated and didn't seem 100% final. The bigger ship has a double cockpit and a turret, 2 escape pods at the sides and kind of a docking area for the smaller ship in the back. That's it. For the fans I would say. The chopper droid seemed final but the other figures not. The AT-AT didn't get much attention from Lego and also not from me, as I have 4483 which I think was years ahead for it's time and still looks good today. Has been discussed already here. The cantina looks tiny in person. There is just not much to it. Ben is new with his brown coat printed on, Luke has a new face, Greedo and the Bith band look great, Landspeeder has new color, Dewback looks awesome, Sandtrooper is - again - new. He has the small black thing from the backpack on his chest printed. Helmet seems to be the same old one. Oh boy, Lego. You and your slight updates. You hate us army builders, right? They were proud of the ISD and demonstrated it. No place in the tower. Shooting missiles, all the little turrets move from a wheel in the back. Folding it up, there is a play area that is way better than in the last one but still lacks detail. The microfig holo is a nice feature, mouse droid and - new Stormtroopers with leg prints. (please check above what I think of slight updates so soon after we got BPs) The officer had a new hat (not the Western version anymore) The B-Wing looks great, the figures (the Numb guy and the Rebel Soldier) look amazing. The Advent calendar seriously has Tatooine Luke. Which was a big disappointment for me since I was hoping for Hoth Luke. Quote
Mr Breden Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the info Zzz! The Star Destroyer sounds most exciting to me. Did they have any Hobbit sets? Edited February 2, 2014 by Mr Breden Quote
Sir_Basil_Ashton Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Zzz, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Can you confirm that the we're getting a new Snowtrooper and how it is different? Thanks. Quote
CM4Sci Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 I'm really wanting to see the Emperor microfig! Does Greedo have a new head mould? Also, can you post some Ultra Agents info? Thanks! -Sci Quote
Zzz Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Thanks for the info Zzz! The Star Destroyer sounds most exciting to me. Did they have any Hobbit sets? They had only the current ones, no trace of the rumored Smaug set. (which was a little disappointing) Zzz, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Can you confirm that the we're getting a new Snowtrooper and how it is different? Thanks. Backpack and helmet are 2 separate pieces and it has a karma skirt. I'm really wanting to see the Emperor microfig! Does Greedo have a new head mould? Also, can you post some Ultra Agents info? It could have been the old Greedo with more paint (like Jarjar), I am not too sure as I never owned the cantina or the shuttle. Agents was my favorite theme and I shared some thoughts over in the action forum! Quote
Spider-Man Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Did Chopper have a smaller body than R2D2 or is it the same piece? Quote
Zzz Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 smaller. And in the turret of the bigger ship they had a molded head that looked an awful lot like a Bothan. Quote
sealslip3 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Thanks for the info! Did you get a look at the redesigned Darth Vader minifig in the ISD? I'm wondering how different it is. Quote
Spider-Man Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 smaller. Thanks for the answer, that's great news! I really look forward to seeing how Chopper looks in figure form now! Quote
Darth Nader Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Thanks for all the info; can you give us more detail about the B-Wing? This is the one I want to buy the most. Quote
rollermonkey Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I thought this new Snowspeeder had two seating positions, is this not true? Quote
ChiefPie Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Sweet the snow troopers get whites karmas right? Quote
Snowspeeder Pilot Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Hello Zzz, Does Dak from snowspeeder set has a different face print? Thank you. Quote
Brickadeer Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 The cantina looks tiny in person. I agree with your last point. While the stormtroopers included in the recent Endor sets were identical, an update (leg printing) was to be expected. I do not dislike updates per se. But I think they should be less frequent (and yes, especially with figures that have army builder potential) and more predictable. As for the Sandtrooper, I think Lego should have focused on solving the issue how the backpack can be attached without making the figure larger (in heigth). Given the recent trend in making turnable helmets that began with the new phase II troopers and (apparently) continues with the snowtrooper helmets, an updated and turnable stormtrooper helmet is probably not so far away. @Zzz: I tried to figure it out myself, but failed miserably: what do you mean by "the small black thing from the backpack"? Quote
Artizan Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I don't like sandtrooper updates, they make it impossible to remove their shoulder pads and use them as regular stormtroopers, now they always have to be sandtroopers! Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 ^ I love their individuality! I adore the little splodges of sand around them. Quote
Admiral-Ackbar Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 ^ I love their individuality! I adore the little splodges of sand around them. Just a quick off topic point about this; using real sand actually removes the sand printing on sandtroopers (or any figure really). Oh the irony... Anyway, the more I hear, the more I want the ISD, and the less I want just about everything else. Why does the thing I want have to be the most expensive? I'm also confused as to how Lego are going to approach the rank insignia on both the Snowtrooper commander and General Veers since Lego was never really accurate with Veers previously. The accuracy of this is really going to be a make or break point for me (because I do buy a set for the figures quite often). Quote
montgocloud Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 The officer had a new hat (not the Western version anymore) Now that's bizarre. Why would they bother with a new hat design when the crew member included in the Microfighter ISD still uses the western hat? I mean it'll still look fine from far away but... sigh. It just confuses me. Quote
legos486 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Zzz did you see what the new vader is like? Quote
Zzz Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Thanks for the info! Did you get a look at the redesigned Darth Vader minifig in the ISD? I'm wondering how different it is. I couldn't say if it was different to be honest, sorry. Thanks for all the info; can you give us more detail about the B-Wing? This is the one I want to buy the most. It doesn't come with a stand or any other ground stuff. The model looks amazing, but about same size as last one. It looks more heavy with a bit more detail, though. I focused more on the figures, though. One red pilot was in the cockpit, the rebel figure seemed to have a new torso and the Nunb figure was entirely new with molded head and looked amazing. Seriously, those figures were having so much detail, it was amazing. I thought this new Snowspeeder had two seating positions, is this not true? Like all previous versions it holds 2 figures (or help me if I didn't get your question). The interior has those new parts from the Friends or Turtles lines, where you can put the minifig legs into. The interior looked much better than previous versions, no yellow or any strange color. The sticker in the back was the same as in the Wampa set (where it was first used I think). Sweet the snow troopers get whites karmas right? I couldn't honestly say if they were white or grey. Hello Zzz, Does Dak from snowspeeder set has a different face print? Thank you. I couldn't honestly say, it looked very much like the one from the Planet set. @Zzz: I tried to figure it out myself, but failed miserably: what do you mean by "the small black thing from the backpack"? A few Sandies have that small black thing there. Not all seem to have it, though. I tried to do some research but didn't find out what it is supposed to be. The new Sandy has that on the upper left chest, as the trooper pictured. The back pack was the same as ever, the helmet was - I believe old, the pants as well. Now that's bizarre. Why would they bother with a new hat design when the crew member included in the Microfighter ISD still uses the western hat? I mean it'll still look fine from far away but... sigh. It just confuses me. See my opinion about the updates above. We're in the same boat here. Quote
legos486 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Thanks for the info Zzz the b wing sounds better and better espically with the numb figure which will look great molded. Quote
