You seen the movie, right? Wouldn't call that a spotlight, and it's computer animation, not a printed figure, so... Yeah. Not really that much design effort compared to the whole or if they'd brick built a new figure for the movie.

They literally stop the movie for a solid minute and solely focus on that SW cameo. Cameos like that are meant to draw a lot of attention, I know people that mentioned the SW cameo before even talking about the rest of the movie. And of course it's animated and not real plastic, that doesn't make a difference. If indeed it means nothing then why create a new design when the old one still looks good? Why have Lando be the new design when the other SW minifigures are old variations? It's just some idle speculation on whether or not Lego intended this as a tease for something new. I think it could be, but it's just as likely it isn't.

Have we seen a Tatooine Luke Skywalker with stormtrooper belt minifig yet? That would go great with my Death Star.

Maybe a Lando in the possibly new UCS Falcon?

With a Nien Numb? I like this theory. A scarred up UCS MF from the Battle of Endor would be different enough to maybe not be as controversial. I missed the first UCS so I would love another shot at one!

I predict that if this rerelease comes to fruition there will be people complaining if it only comes with the updated versions of the characters from the first release and complaining if it were to come with Lando and Nien Numb. "Why do we get another Han?" "Why doesn't Han come with his ship?"

Here's hoping a rerelease would come with a conglomeration of figs that interact with the ship throughout the trilogy. Including but not limited to the main crew, Lando Cloud city and general, Nien Numb, Obi Wan and storm troopers!!

... As master Yoda says: "Only the sith deal in absolutes" ...

Logic, why is it so hard for most people? Are you absolutely sure Yoda?

I think it's pretty clear that he was just using a quote because it was appropriate for his point. (Although it's an Obi-Wan quote from the beginning of the Battle of the Heroes, not a Yoda quote.) No need to insult the logic abilities of another member.

UCS Falcon.. please... for the love of bob saget... My number 1 wanted set since I missed the first being a poor student at the time. :P

Collectors won't like it though. The release of a new one will probably devalue the old one and the new one will sell like crazy and never be as valuable. But I don't care.

If you think about it early 2015 would be the last chance they might have for a long time to release an original trilogy UCS Millennium Falcon since if they leave it any later than that they might be expected to make an Episode 7 version. Plus it would still be available when they release the movie when interest in the theme will be an at all time high. For this reason it seems like the best possible time to do it.

I don't imagine the Episode 7 version will be much different aside from potential minifigures so it probably doesn't matter. Even then they'd probably just be old verions of the characters we're getting anyways.

If a new MF is anywhere near the size of the original, and judging by the going rate of these large SW sets, it will cost £500($850)+ VERY unlikely!!

I don't imagine the Episode 7 version will be much different

I sincerely hope you are right, but did you see what J.J.Abrams did to the star ship Enterprise? :)

The Enterprise is meant to be cutting edge technology, the Falcon is a beaten up rust bucket, there is no need to update it.

The UCS Falcon re-release sounds dubious. Not that I don't want to see it happen (it would be awesome) but TLG has shown their favoritism for releasing the same few sets every 2-3 years. X Wings, Y Wings, Falcons, etc.

Agreed on the points that Episode 7 will renew interest in the vehicle, however the original trilogy never really goes out of style. It's the core of the franchise.

Has there been a single winter or summer wave in history that ignored the OT outright? This is true of the current wave hitting stores in which the Death Star battlepack keeps the torch burning for the OT.... and sticking out in the sea of episode 3 rehashes. I now the reason why, but it speaks volumes from TLG that they include something, anything from the OT for each wave.

Maybe we'll have our cake and eat it too: a re-issue of the UCS Falcon and then a (comparatively) more affordable System scale Falcon somewhere in 2015.

Maybe a Lando in the possibly new UCS Falcon?

While this is imagineable, i think that there is a more obvious option: Finally, after 11 years we may get a new Cloud City set! Time is overly due and it certainly would be a cash cow for TLG. To nourish this, some forum member on a gerrman lego forum said that he heard a rumor from someone he knows that some 'big and round shaped' set would be in the works. This would also - almost - be true for a new UCS Falcon but the last iteration of it is much younger - and i also like the idea of a new Cloud City way more.

Such a set would be a worthy 15th anniversary special release!

I've bought all the battle packs in-store in toys r us in Maryland.

Alright!, like I said, I held some and I only got 1 of each, and I was getting disapointed because they were pulled off the website. Thanks!

Maybe both. And a degobah set!

It was really big deal that they were pulled off of the TRU website. None of them were available to order online after the first couple days anyway.

I swear I was just thinking about a new Cloud City and Dagobah set. I was looking at my minifig collection and noticed that the ESB doesn't have too many minifigs. I thought well whats missing? And pretty much the second half of the movie hasn't had any (recent) lego justice. I would love for a Dagobah set with Yoda's hut and surrounding swamp environment. And you could have a special R2 with his scope, maybe a new creature, a new Yoda and an updated fleshie Dagobah luke. The level in Lego Star Wars II The OT captured that whole scene perfectly.

Wait, am I in the 2014 discussion or the future star wars sets topic?

Anyway, the tri-droid from the utapau troopers looked really bad at first, but its really starting to grow on me. These are available in stores now right?

I saw a few at toys r us last week. Picked up a few Death Star troopers during their bogo sale. All their new Star Wars sets are at retail price, for now. Are these the topics you are looking for?
