Fun (another toy store in Belgium) has the new sets as well.. http://www.fun.be/nl/speelgoed/lego/lego-star-wars?limit=36

They're also doing a 3+1 free (cheapest for free, ofcourse) till the end of the month and I was very tempted to pick up the Jedi Interceptor, Imperial V-Wing, Grievous' Wheel Bike and Vulture Droid (24.95€/piece).. Eventually decided not to do it, although I might still give in and go back next week. :)

I just can't understand WHY the vulture droid and the droid gunship have cockpits for pilots? They are autonomous droid units, and in the case of the vulture droid it spoils the design. The main body should be flatter (just plates), not as huge and bulky as it is here.

Just for play feature.

Chowren Toys has got word that there will be a UCS Sandcrawler (75059) being released next year. Thoughts on that?

http://www.thebrickf...r-75059-rumors/

That would be amazing, I love everything from ANH and I never picked up the old one, as it seemed very simply designed.

Many opportunities for this set - new and updated minifigures, power functions, hugely evolved building techniques, sets that could get along (like the 4 Jabba sets) = really looking forward for this one!

Just do me a favor and please don't slightly update the Sandtrooper. It's perfect and doesn't need any update. Lately you have been sabotaging army building, TLC! :hmpf_bad:

Most of the new battlepacks have shown up in Norwegian online store Lekekassen.no, and much to my surprise the price is lower than the previous line of bp's.

Now NOK 129,-, before they were NOK 149,-

An extra 16% discount too, not too shabby.

Anyone else seen norwegian prices being 129 (in shop or online) confirming bp price drop, or is it just this shop that's got MSRP wrong?

I dont have any words on the price, but as far as I know the sets are now available in this country at Toys R Us, BR and such, with the local toy stores getting the sets next week.

I'll be sure to check out the price next time I go out, it'd sure be great to have the battlepacks at only 129 NOK this year.

Dutch toy stores like Top1Toys and Bartsmit got the new Star Wars 2014 sets. Does anyone knows what the blue parts on the Vulture Droid are exactly? Is It Medium Blue or Dark Azure?

Looks like TRU has them at 149,-

Probably means that the 129,- MSRP is just a mixup, dang.

You don't like them because they're legitimately absolutely terrible. They're random things made to look 0% like blasters and are shaped purely for the function. They're for little kids and have zero appeal to adults. They're the worst thing to come out of Star Wars since Jar Jar.

I seriously don't get all the hate for these things! I mean, sure, they don't look like blasters from the movies, but aren't there other ways you could use these pieces?

(And what do you mean Jar Jar's the "worst thing ever"? He's the best SW character in existence!)

The new blasters look horrible. Why do all of the battle packs have to have them. It's like they are forcing it on us. It should have been at least 2 old blasters and 2 new blasters per battle pack.

Posted

yeah those blasters ruins a lot... if only one could spot at least an attempt to make them look like guns they would be acceptable but there is just nothing to these that is not simply wrong

As bad as the new blasters look, I'm glad we're getting them. I'm not even a huge LEGO Star Wars fan, but I have so many copies of most of the other blasters we've gotten over the years.

The blasters are atrocious, no doubt there, and they follow the trend which I discussed at some length some 20+ pages ago, namely the "puerilization" of the SW line which is making me very upset, so I'd refrain from getting into another rant on that.

Briefly, I was always an adept of "vote with your wallet" approach to show TLG what they can and can't get away with. The problem there is, they are getting sneaky. For instance, the best example is 75036: an archetype of a set that they "can't get away with". An 8-year old design, horrible-looking vehicle, which contrary to Microfighters, doesn't not even have very nice parts you could use for your MOC.

If there was justice in this world, they wouldn't have sold 100 boxes of these worldwide and would take such a tremendous loss on it that it would serve them a lesson. Instead, I'd bet an arm and a leg it would be the best-selling set of a line. Why? Well, they put the best figure of the line in it, simple as that. Well, IMO second best, after the DS Gunner, but a close second - that Airborne trooper is simply fantastic. So what to do: be ethical and uphold your principles and give up on one of the figures you really like? Or give in and allow them to make completely undeserved money on it? I have even considered bricklinking the figure, but in fine, TLG wins either way, not to mention that for such a cheap set, it's not economically viable solution. So, at the end, given how appalled I am by that Octuppara, I'd uphold my principles and look with longing at the nice HD pics of the trooper (if ever they are made available...)

Similar situation with 75034 (but still light years away from the above) : best minifig in the line-up, and worst minifig in the line-up (yo and behold the grey lighsabers-wielding Chinese plastic toys *oh2* ) But that one I'm taking, I like the canon, I need gunners for my DS, and the cheap plastic Lego-wannabes will go on ebay.

The only thing I can hope is that at least enthusiasts on this forum will understand what's the only language the suits in TLG understand and vote with their wallet on sets like Octuppara droid, 72-nd Jedi Interceptor, n-th iteration of V-Wing, etc. and that regardless on how much they like particular aspects of the set. Perhaps then, when their sales excel column start differing strongly from the predicted-sales excel column, they'll start paying closer attention to what transpires here and perhaps making quality and original sets like several years ago and thus give a new shine to our favorite line. But as long as you keep supporting their current commercial logic they'll have no incentive to.

Those blasters are totally made for 7-10 year old's, I guess a neat play feature but to displaying figures in MOC's or battle scenes for displays.....the blasters we have come to love are the better ones.

what is the color of Grievous bikes rim? Is it transparent, chrome silver or solid silver? For me it looks transparent or dhrome silver....

It's clear/transparent (I own the set).

My 7yo nephew is totally in love with them, my clear stud bin not so much  .
