After seeing the final images for these sets, my initial 'meh' is confirmed

It's got to be the worst range for several years, but at least we have a UCS Slave 1 to (hopefully) look forward to. I'm planning to buy 3 or 4 of the Death Star Trooper packs, but otherwise I'm happy to pass on the rest of them. And, I completely agree with the general concensus regarding the new blasters....they might be fun if you're under 10, but I'm not

Ah well, at least I can buy the EV in the next couple of months without feeling too guilty about how much I've spent on Lego recently. I'm almost starting to like ewoks; they seem very appealing compared to most of this lot, which is a worrying state of affairs!!

Well, the poohy part is now these "new" stud-blasters won't match with the rest of our armies. Which isn't good for people like me who don't have a lot of normal blasters to start with!

It's not like anyone didn't know about the new blasters months ahead of time. You can still buy plenty of old style blasters on bricklink.

I'm not complaining about these sets at all. It is a perfect opportunity for collectors/buyers to give their wallets a rest and at the same time to "fatten" their minifigure collection.

The new blasters look horrible. Why do all of the battle packs have to have them. It's like they are forcing it on us. It should have been at least 2 old blasters and 2 new blasters per battle pack.

They are not forcing anything on you. No one is forcing you to buy a children's toy. This is all in your head

Don't you think you are oversimplifying it a bit? As the most "adult" line of Lego, I believe AFOLs have every right to complain about this overly kids-friendly turn of the tide in SW without being treated with such condescending attitude?

I think this new gun will come a pass like the light up lightsaber figs did in 2005. LEGO is just testing out something new and interesting. If you don't like the new guns, buy some of the current ones.

You can complain. But Lego is still a children's toy. Its not like Lego is taking all of your old blasters and replacing them with the new one. That would be forcing it on you.

As in Star Wars having a giant adult fan base, there are still a lot more kids that like star wars that buy the toys.

This post made me laugh. Everyone is debating about these new blasters, and then I read this. Haha I agree, they come witha new function and they do what guns do, they shoot! Although their design is a bit funny looking, is it really all that bad?

If I think about it really long and to the point where my head starts to hurt I can almost understand why people are upset about the new blasters. I wonder how many of these same people were opposed to LEGO adding flick-fire missiles years ago. I may never fully understand it but there's nothing wrong with toys having play features.

No they are not taking our old blasters because they can't take our blasters to continue in such a glorious literalism. But what they can do and are doing is imposing the new blasters to all army builders and minifig collectors for there is not a single old style blaster in the new BPs. I do not have issues with the fact that it's TLG prerogative to experiment with commercial strategies (partly because I am neither an army builder nor minifig collector), but I do about treating people who voice objective complaints as a bunch of whiners who do not realize "that it is a kids' toy".

Which brings me back to your second point which is simply inaccurate. Lego SW adult sales share globally (from the statement of their own rep) amounted to around 35-40% (and in 2010 in UK it went to more than 50%). That's not what I'd call "a lot more kids".

But anyway, blasters it is, we'll survive this experiment, I doubt it would be of long life once vacuum cleaners start having their say...

I think we need to stop assuming that kids like the new blasters. I do not think they will. With that concept in mind, I hold the opinion that EVERYONE will think they suck.

Your opinion has already been proven wrong by posts on this page but again, it's your opinion.

On behalf of my son and his friend, they like the play features of the new blasters. I'll see if they hold this opinion after they finally get to play with it.

P.S : I think the new blasters are a big improvement over the old blasters, as they were over the megafone's ..... Get over it you old AFOL !! It's for kids , not for us !!

Owh, If by any chance you don't like them, there only in three ( 3 ) sets, so in this line there 12 to buy/ find .... so that is not so bad !!

The only thing I don't like about the sets are the new guns,but I don't care anymore. I think that the v-wing set is a bit dull colour wise and the only other criticism I have is that I won' be able to afford them all!

Why wouldn't kids love these? Can you think of a better designed mechanism for firing a 1x1 stud 4 inches up a nostril? Kids really go for that sort of thing.

Disappointed Normally there is at least ONE set in a wave that I want - not this time! I would've bought the Death Star Troopers pack, if it actually contained any Death Star Troopers. I'll be bricklinking a couple of Gunners (I've got more than enough imperial guards) and maybe the new Chewie , but apart from that I'll be saving my money until something better (hopefully!) comes along.

Picked up 2 Death Star Battlepacks today, very cool battle pack.

The new blasters are weird. I like them, but it's strange that my troopers make sound when I handle them.

Only thing that slightly bothers me is the trans red stud, I will replace them with trans neon orange to match the old blasters.
