Hooray! But what is May's UCS then?

-Sci

If you want to get really technical, they have not used the designation UCS in about 10 years. So what it means has kind of gotten fluid and open to interpretation. These days they just put out large expert build level D2C sets. Which the Sandcrawler looks to be. It is also probably a massive system scale play set, ala Death Star and Ewok village. So some people's interpretation of its UCS pedigree may differ?

Chances are this will be the large May D2C release.

I just look to see if it has a sticker displaying the name and functions of the set. if it does, UCS. If not, no UCS.

The Darth Vader and Clone minifigs look disappointing, but hopefully those are not the final versions.

More Sandcrawler news/rumors!

The 75059 Sandcrawler will be $349.99 USD.

If this is true the Sandcrawler must have more than 1600 parts! PF would be great ;)

For that price I would expect the Sandcrawler to be 2000+ parts and to include a few minifigures with it (hopefully some updated Jawas and those obscure droids).

I believe the rumored Slave I might be the May release, however I haven't seen that one confirmed so I could be wrong.

As far as I know, there is no source for any rumored Slave I.

Oh yay, LLM has started uploading pics to his blog now.

That looks a lot better than the blurry pics we got before. Keep in note the tan used on the Sandspeeder will be replaced by a new nougat/salmon color used in the Simpsons House garage.

That's great! Thank you. I already like this set very much! If adequate colours are being used on the speeder, Luke has a lightsaber, too and Obi Wan has a cape and cloak this set will fulfill one of my Lego dreams!

Thanks for letting us know. Still, i cannot see the sandcrawler there. Maybe it was taken away. Any news on the star destroyer?

Just noticed in the little

: that's definitely a microfighter Landspeeder there, and possibly a microfighter Steath Starfighter

The Landspeeder was sold at NYCC in 2012 (I was there).

The Stealth Starfighter was sold at SDCC in 2012.

I think the big reason why we are getting the new Snowspeeder is to create a play synergy with the new AT-AT. While they could have just left the current Battle of Hoth Snowspeeder set out there, this way it lets them add the new spring missiles so the two sets can be shooting it out. Which would have been an awesome feature to have back when I was in my preteen years. They didn't add much in the way of opposing force in the Snowspeeder this time because the set is meant to be a low priced companion set to the high price one. It's a common and effective marketing scheme. "Don't just by this. By this plus the upgrade add on."

You see a similar vibe over with the Ghost and the Phantom. The low cost set is meant as an add on or compliment to the larger one in addition to working as a stand alone. They did this same thing with the LotR and Hobbit sets. The High priced set (Helms Deep or Dol Goldur Battle) had a lower priced set to expend the scene or play (Uruk Hai Army and Dol Goldur Ambush respectively).

Yes, there isn't much between us. As mentioned, TLG is going back to the roots. A snowspeeder is a must have - as is the AT-AT. The 'dual-complementary-set' concept is a good idea and it's fair, too. Now you can army build on your favourites without getting too much excess stuff to pay for. Regarding the speeder itself, there certainly are changes about it. The piece count is evidently higher and i expect the vehicle to be actually bigger. Same goes for the AT-AT. While toy fair visitors said that the size would be the same, i expect the walker to be broader in width. 8129 was a little slim. :classic:

I don't mind TLG adding playability features to the sets. Lego is a toy, actually. After all, no one is required to make use of the flickfires, shooters or whatever. One can even leave them out entirely.

Damn. I missed the pic of the Yoda Chronicles set.

And he's been upgraded to Stormtrooper! So his ability to fly or shoot straight should be severely diminished.

Huh. Okay, thanks; I hadn't seen that before. Strange that there's no link to the Brickset post that he says is the source...

The Slave 1 rumor came couple of weeks BEFORE sandcrawler, so for us to "source" the rumor would have meant tedious search on this forum.
