Darth Punk Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I'm inwardly groaning, as I was hoping the calendar would be more Episode III-centric with more army I wouldn't hold my breath to expect to get much of anything from episodes I-iii the next several years. The new rebels series should indicate the direction they are going in. Quote
ETAV8R Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) Wow! What an incredible year. Some sets I didn't think I would like are definitely on the list. So many new figs this year that can be used in other sets/mocs. The figure with the new helmet in the Ghost could be hanging out in the cantina...some of the best pilots... Hammerhead and the protocol droid will also be useful. Wonder if we will see the same type of protocol droid in the Sandcrawler. Edited February 16, 2014 by ETAV8R Quote
Reevr Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I don't like the new designs for almost all figures. New Greedo is worse than old one, Kenobi with printed robe is very needless, new stormtrooper print I don't like at all, neither the caps for imperial officers. And did we need a new design for general veers, or the at at driver at all? Much of the new figs will not fit into our old armies now. Isn't that kind of how it's been for years now? New figures don't really fit with older figures? Quote
Just The Doctor Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Is that the OLD snowtrooper in the advent calendar? Quote
Artizan Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Isn't that kind of how it's been for years now? New figures don't really fit with older figures? The stormtrooper design remained unchanged since 2001 until now. The old officers had different torso prints, but they wouldn't stand out from the new one from the TIE fighter. But now you have to get new caps for all your officers or they will not match. And the atat comes only with one at-at driver, so you have to buy two sets to match them. scout troopers changed, snowtroopers changed, and now they also changed the stormtroopers! What is next, will they make new molds for the battle droids? Quote
Admiral-Ackbar Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Is that the OLD snowtrooper in the advent calendar? You know, I thought that as well as it certainly looks that way. It could be a lack of parts at the time or just plain laziness on TLGs part. Quote

Reevr Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Anyone else notice that the snowspeeder is actually much improved over previous versions? Sure it's the same basic design, but it's a little bit longer now which makes it much more proportionally accurate. The back was beefed up a bit too. I don't see how they could have done anything else to make it better. Quote
BJM Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I think Lobot mentioned it earlier, but that Dewback really is looking to unLEGOey. I was so excited at the prospect of the exact same one as featured in the micro sets ad. But, of course, I will be excitedly getting 2 cantina's anyhow, and working on mocing them together to get a longer bar. What a great set, bit where will I get me a Ponda Baba??? Dr B - is unLEGOey an acceptable term? I cannot help but feel that they should resist going too figurine accurate - this is why we all love LEGO. Quote
ablake90 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 http://www.figures.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=332551&title=star-wars&cat=12681 I'm so glad Obi Wan has been updated I had this idea years ago Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 The T-47 still looks pretty inaccurate, but at least they finally got rid of those 3x12 wedge plates on the wings. It's far from perfect, but the use of the 2x3 and 3x6 wedges instead makes a huge difference. Quote
djmangunz Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 To those who were wondering why the Rebels line is lacking the Inquisitor minifigure, IGN had a blurb about some of the Hasbro toys and they had this to say: we also got a look at the Inquisitor’s TIE Advanced Starfighter. So it sounds like we could get a TIE Advanced set with the Inquisitor for the winter line. http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/02/16/hasbro-reveals-new-star-wars-rebels-characters Quote
ablake90 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Why have the naval captains got new caps when we have literally just had an imperial crewman with a basic style cap? Lego can be so inconsistent Quote
Artizan Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I also noticed that obi-wan's tan torso printing is pale doesn't match his pant colors. Quote
ETAV8R Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) Another use for the Jedi Scout Fighter is the red wing parts which can be used to make Obi-wan's Jedi Interceptor. ;) The tech in the B-Wing could be used to make a suitable Bespin Luke. Edited February 16, 2014 by ETAV8R Quote
AudiBobaR5-D2 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 The more I see the summer set pictures, the more interested I am of collecting them, especially the REBELS sets and the cantina. Hopefully a UK release date is confirmed or at least as guide at the end of the New York Toy Fair. Really looking forward to this Summer 2014 wave, and now can't wait for the next Winter wave after this one. Quote
CJBERRY Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Really happy with the new snowspeeder I've wanted one for ages, and it looks sweet, and rrp of $29.99 it says on one of the pics? Awesome. Probably translate to £29.99 and thats fine with me Some really cool sets this year, just when I am trying to make space in the house by selling old sets :( doh Quote
legolandia Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I'm inwardly groaning, as I was hoping the calendar would be more Episode III-centric with more army builders. Like: Santa Vader and the Tree Droid. OK: The Phase II Clone Trooper (I wish he came with a helmet instead of or in addition to a Santa hat). the Super Battle Droid (we got one in 2012, but I guess more of those rare guys are OK), the Snowspeeder Pilot (technically got one in 2011, but this one's colors are accurate). Dislike: Tatooine Luke (I have two, don't need another), General Rieeken (including specific people in the calendar is weird), the Snowtrooper (got one 2 years ago), the Tie Pilot (got one in the 2011 calendar). Wish we'd gotten: an Episode III Clone Pilot instead of the Snowspeeder pilot; a Magna Guard instead of the Super Battle Droid; a Wookiee instead of Rieeken (maybe Taarful); and an updated Tusken instead of Tatooine Luke. The fireplace instead of the usual useless weapons rack is nice, though. If you look close I bet the printing on those minifigures will be slightly different from the previous versions. It's usually the case. I'm surprised that you call the SBD "super rare". They have been included in plenty of sets and they can be picked up pretty cheap from ebay or bricklink. On another note, it has been a while since I have seen the films but the AT-AT looks a bit on the thin side to me (especially the legs). Is that just me or is it the angle the pics were taken from? Quote
BrickG Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I'm please with the next wave. Especially after this terrible prequel wave. Quote
Sir_Basil_Ashton Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Toy Ark has tons of new pictures for Star Wars! All the sets are looking pretty awesome, here are my thoughts thus far: B-Wing: Looks great, follows the trend of improved Rebel fighters. The minifigs look awesome. Looking forward to adding to my different pilots. Snow Speeder: I’m really digging the color scheme. Again, more Rebels with leg printing that improves the look of the minifigs. The Phantom: Still undecided on this, I’ll have to see how it looks like on the Rebels show with The Ghost. Initially it looks way too big. That astromech droid looks off, way too small and wide. Jedi Scout Fighter: Easily my favorite vehicle of this wave. I really love the aggressive look of this ship. The Ithorian Jedi is amazing. The Ghost: I really like the way the ship looks in LEGO form. It’s obviously undersized but the shape is true to the images we’ve seen of this ship. The Stormtrooper minifig looks a lot better than it did on the box. It’ll take some getting used to but I can accept it for now. I like the new minifigs. AT-AT: I’m just not liking the way this turned out. There’s something about the overall shape that looks off to me. I feel like the body should be a lot longer than it is and the legs look too skinny as well. Is it me or this at a light blue color on the AT-AT driver minifig? Imperial Star Destroyer: Looks a lot better than it did in earlier photos. The underside is looks better. Maybe it’s just me but I liked the smooth look of 6211. I would like to see the two sets next to each other for a comparison shot. Advent Calendar: Never been a big fan of advent calendars. I think Santa Vader would look better if the torso and arm colors matched the color of the cape. Mos Eisley Cantina: I’m absolutely loving the Dewback and Sandtrooper. That’s absolutely what’s going to lead me to buy this set. The colors on the Sand Speeder look good but the stickers on this set look out of place due to the amount of details. All the minifigs look well done. Unsure about Greedo, need to see some better photos from the front. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Ah, that B-wing is so cool and there minifigs are totally AWESOME ! A little let down on the Cantina side of things is the lack of figures that could have been included i.e. Chewie and the bar keep.......though I wonder how hard to would be to make a custom Bea Arthur character minifig ? Quote
Laservampire Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Oh god my wallet is already hurting, all of the OT sets are a must-buy. Really surprised to see how close the Landspeeder is to the 2010 version! Quote
Sir_Basil_Ashton Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 One more note, from what I've seen the pricing on these sets are reasonable. No single set seemed overpriced to me. Quote
wesker Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 B-Wing Looks like a good improvement over the last one. Nice selection of figures. Still not sure why Lego went with Ten Numb over Nien Numb though. Snowspeeder While the shape is a bit better its still too similar to the last (5?) snowspeeders we've gotten over the years. The new Snowtrooper looks good but why did they have to change Luke's face again? The Phantom Pretty average on its own, but should be better when paired with the Ghost. Jedi Scout Fighter Surprisingly quite good. The RA-7 Protocol Droid is awesome. Makes me wonder if we'll see the mold reused for either another RA-7 or a CZ Droid in the Sandcrawler. The Hammerhead Jedi is pretty cool too. The Ghost Looks good. Will wait until I've seen the show before I decide whether to buy it or not. AT-AT Still looks too disproportioned. Its sad that this is the fourth AT-AT and the original is still the best one. At least Veers finally has a unique face and the new AT-AT Driver looks good. Not sure if I'll be picking it up though. Star Destroyer Looks much sturdier than the previous version and I like that the front of the interior resembles the bridge of a Star Destroyer. Micro Palpatine looks awesome as does Vader and the new Stormtroopers. I still think its a missed opportunity we aren't getting an updated Tarkin or classic Leia in these sets. In fact I'm disapointed we aren't getting Leia at all this year. Other than that it looks to be a great set. Mos Eisley Cantina Awesome! I love the new Dewback and the colour of the Landspeeder. The moisture vaporator is a nice touch and the design is a massive improvement over the 1999 and 2002 versions. The cantina itself is a little small but should be easily to expand and looks to have plenty of detail. The set itself also looks to be a great parts pack for building your own Tatooine town. Obi-Wan's printed cloak looks great and I'd love to see this kind of variation on some of the prequel Jedi. Shame how Luke turned out. The grin and cheekbones look pretty ugly and I was hopeing he would continue using the dark tan hair. Would've been nice to also have a big more variety with the Cantina patrons. Quote
strangely Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) Well looking up close at Luke I can say he's definitely related to Padme, they both have the same goofy smile. Hopefully we'll see the other side of the head soon. I think it's a good redesign for the most part, I think the cheekbones are fitting and at the very least he now has blond eyebrows. I'm glad to see an update on this version of Luke, the leg printing turned out much better this time. I'm a little bummed out they didn't do anything with the torso (there was room for improvement). The protocol droid is a welcome addition. It's nice to see that leg printing is becoming standard for the protocol droids. It makes me wish that we had an Ep2 version of C3PO. This body would be a passable stand in, but unfortunately I still wouldn't have the correct colored head, so I'll just have to wait a little longer for Lego to make him. Overall the minifigures turned out to be really good this year. Though Greedo's coloring still bothers me, the green just looks too dark to me. Edited February 16, 2014 by strangely Quote
