My number 1 wanted set since I missed the first being a poor student at the time. :P Collectors won't like it though. The release of a new one will probably devalue the old one and the new one will sell like crazy and never be as valuable. But I don't care." legolandia Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Logic, why is it so hard for most people? Are you absolutely sure Yoda? My apologies for attributing the saying to Yoda rather than Obi Wan. What I wanted to say through it was that none of us can say whether we are going to have a minifigure or not. I suppose probably even Lego themselves couldnt because no one can predict the future. And my experience with Lego releases has taught me that trying to apply logic to Lego releases doesnt always work. You never know, in the future the original films may be released in 4D or 5D format and Lego may release another updated cantina set and decide to include Ponda baba or whatever else. Quote
Faefrost Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 While this is imagineable, i think that there is a more obvious option: Finally, after 11 years we may get a new Cloud City set! Time is overly due and it certainly would be a cash cow for TLG. To nourish this, some forum member on a gerrman lego forum said that he heard a rumor from someone he knows that some 'big and round shaped' set would be in the works. This would also - almost - be true for a new UCS Falcon but the last iteration of it is much younger - and i also like the idea of a new Cloud City way more. Such a set would be a worthy 15th anniversary special release! Or we might simply get a new Twin Pod Cloud car in the $20 price range, and include a Lando with it. The Minifigs don't always perfectly match with the ship or scene. Such as Han Solo and Ackbar in the A Wing set. Quote
Rob1321 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I really wish the new Rebels sets would use the anime style faces like the clone wars minifigs. I find the regular faces to be boring. Come on Lego. Quote
hjmediastudios Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I really wish the new Rebels sets would use the anime style faces like the clone wars minifigs. I find the regular faces to be boring. Come on Lego. I strenuously disagree. For me, the return of decent faces that can be mixed-and-matched with the rest of my collection is a welcome change. Quote

arc Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I agree, the standard faces are boring. honestly, I like the old style "boring" faces. I think minifigures are TO detailed nowadays, but that's a different discussion. Quote
wesker Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I'm glad they got rid of the anime faces for Rebels. Most of them looked terrible (especially on human characters) and didn't blend in well with the classic face minifigures. Quote
strangely Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I'm not against the concept of the anime faces in itself, but for me they rarely ever looked that good. Perhaps a different style for the eyes could have made it work, but ultimately I just couldn't get used to those faces. And honestly the fact that they didn't blend in with any of the other minifigures made it hard to like them. I mean I like to be able to reuse minifigure parts and the style just didn't allow that. korpen4444 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I just like stylized stuff. Having uniform with everything is boring to me. I don't see why the Rebels figure don't have anime faces. The show style is the same as TCW. Quote
Rob1321 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I understand where some of you are coming from but I just thought they had more character with those faces. All of the minifigs had the same style of faces and now that will continue. I just liked that they were something different. In a sense they were just more fun to me. Quote
Sir_Basil_Ashton Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I'm currently army building EP II Phase 1 clones and I miss the CW clone faces. The non-CW heads on clones just look awful to me. In fact I don't like that particular face that's being used as a generic trooper face across the SW line. Quote
LegoFjotten Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I really wish the new Rebels sets would use the anime style faces like the clone wars minifigs. I find the regular faces to be boring. Come on Lego. Oh heavens no! The CW faces are terrible… Much much better to go with the regular style. I love being able to mix heads from SW, Indiana Jones, PotC and Superheroes to get some diversity in mocs. A CW head is just useless unless it can be covered with a helmet. I will be happy to swap all my CW heads for various regular flesh heads (although I don't have that many since I avoid them as best I can). Quote
TheBear Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 It just goes to show that whatever they do some people won't like it. Having faces that were incompatible with everything else was a huge mistake and thankfully they have not repeated it with the Rebels figures. Quote
strangely Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I just like stylized stuff. Having uniform with everything is boring to me. I don't see why the Rebels figure don't have anime faces. The show style is the same as TCW. It's not really the same style, it has similarities, but ultimately they're different. Particularly because they each are emulating different artists. Notably the Rebels characters look to be proportioned more realistically and textured much differently. The faces in particular aren't styled anything like the CW characters who all had overly defined features, head shapes and eye shapes. I think ultimately Lego made the right choice here, I think what they came up with matches the characters pretty perfectly. And being that they were less anime looking I don't think the CW style of head would have really matched the Rebels style that well. I could understand the stylized minifigures for the big eyed CW designs, but for Rebels I just don't see the need. Quote
cookiemonster Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I don't know if this has been posted before, but everyone who is interested in the back of the new Snowtrooper can check out the following image. Quote

korpen4444 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) Oh, my. It could've at least spread to two studs wide. Either way, definite gets are: B-Wing. (Airen Cracken!) ISD The Phantom/Ghost combo : (Need the combo, must collect the series) AT-AT I've still got other themes to collect, so this should be good for now. Edit: I'm now a Knight! A Jedi Knight. Only Sinner Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Why did they have to go and mess up the snowtrooper? It was fine the way it was. What, you couldn't turn his head? Who cares. Realistically, a trooper probably has limited movement in the cold weather gear anyway. Well, I guess one cannot halt progress. As for the Rebels minifigs, I too am glad to see a more reasonable facial print for these characters. CW faces are a little too stylized. I am looking forward to collecting all the Rebels sets. Quote
Robianco Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I quite like the backpack on that. I didn't really have a beef with the whole backpack/helmet mould as it was but that printed stud backpack works quite well. The new facial part of the mask looks pretty mint so overall I'm happy with that. Add me to the dislike of the CW faces. Some of those design changes grate on me... I think there's enough flexibility in the standard Lego face design to not need the CW style. Quote
korpen4444 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 We seriously needed some non-black eyes. The Blue-Green-and Brown pupils we got with the CW faces was need in my opinion. Either way, I still hate that snowtrooper backpack design. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. That's how I feel about the new snowtroopers. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I don't know if this has been posted before, but everyone who is interested in the back of the new Snowtrooper can check out the following image. [snip] Well, that's annoying. They split up the Boba Fett helmet mold into two new pieces, but they change the Snowtrooper helmet mold into one piece that's not extremely necessary and one brick-built combo that looks just as bad as the Sandtrooper backback. The only use I see for this mold is in applications where the trooper is sitting in a seat, or in animations where the head needs to turn, and the new mold is quickly substituted in for the old one with a camera angle where you can't see the backpack. Quote
Alfadas Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I thought the new snowtrooper wasn't that bad, but now I see the pic of his back. It is awful. Sorry TLG, like the old one WAY better. Quote
Steel Tiger Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I am SO glad to get the helmet separated from the backpack! I'm not saying that I like the way the backpack looks, but at least now I can take it off without my snowtrooper getting hypothermia. Quote
