Darth Malgus Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Really they should've just painted the old mould on the back, everyone would've more than likely been happy with that compromise. Quote
Brickadeer Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I like the new Snowtrooper and the new backpacks. The pro is that this way, the mould of the helmet can be used for making Galactic Marines with different backpacks than the Snowtroopers have. The con is that Lego still does not have found a way to attach the clip without making the minifigigure higher. That may work for the Snowtrooper, but in my opinion it doesn't work so well for e.g. the Sandtrooper or ARC trooper (TCW). I wonder about the following: the backpack is attached via a clip which is located between the "shoulders" and the head, thus making the minifig slightly higher. On the picture, however, the helmet seems nearly to be in touch with the shoulders. Is that just my impression? Because if it is correct, and if the clip is removed, than it should not be possible to attach the helmet properly if the clip isn't attached, and it would follow from this that Lego requires two different moulds for the helmets of the Commander and the regular Snowtrooper. It doesn't seem probable that Lego makes two different moulds for this purpose, which leads me to the question: Why does the Snowtrooper on the picture look as if the helmet rests directly on the shoulders of the minifigure? Robert_88 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I read in another forum that the UCS Slave 1 will be released on April 28th. Don't know if the source is reliable. Quote
wesker Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Looking more at the Navy Trooper it seems like a downgrade compared to the previous one from the TIE Fighter. No chin strap on the face and the uniform is wrong. Seems strange given how much attention to detail the minifigures have been getting lately. Quote

In ROTJ the guys with those hats actually wear both types of uniform so the torso isn't wrong. In the shot below the guy on the right is wearing the uniform from the TIE Fighter version and the other two are wearing the one from the ISD. I totally agree with you about the face printing though, it seems that the chin strap is a victim of their current obsession with headsets. Luckily this is easily fixed by buying a few heads with chin straps. Quote

Hm....that close to May 4th, but not released on May 4th. I'm calling BS on this one. That said, what are the chances that the set revealed at Bricks Cascade on March 8-9 will be the Sandcrawler? I'm thinking it's the most likely candidate. Quote

Darth Malgus Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Didn't they allow VIP's to get the X-Wing a few daus prior to May the 4th, pretty sure I was able to order it a day or two before the 4th last year... IT could be plausible? although I'd imagine if it was ordered and there was no specials with it one would be mightily annoyed. Quote
Archer Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Hey, to anyone who has the 2014 sets with the new launchers, are the warnings against leaving the missiles in the sets simply a safety precaution or does the missile launcher get worn if it is loaded for too long? Might be hard to know since no one has had these sets for more than a few months. Quote
Artanis I Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Hey, to anyone who has the 2014 sets with the new launchers, are the warnings against leaving the missiles in the sets simply a safety precaution or does the missile launcher get worn if it is loaded for too long? Might be hard to know since no one has had these sets for more than a few months. I think it's just for while you build the set. I don't know how many times I shot myself over the years from spring loaded shooters because I put the missile in during the build. And yes, I did shoot myself with the new one. So I followed the advice of the instruction booklet with the second set. (That advice being: "put it in" *turns the page* "don't put it in") Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 It would make sense if the springs lost some of their power over time from being constantly compressed, I suppose. I don't remember the old blunt shooters ever being significantly negatively affected, though, although I can't say I stored them that way too often. Quote
HawkLord Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Given that the new shooters are not spring loaded, but rather work by forcing the stud out, I would assume these could be stored loaded without any worry. Or at least no more worry than storing bricks that are attached anyway. Quote

Not the hand-held stud launchers, but the 1x4 bricks that shoot transparent rods. Quote
StoutFiles Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Imperiumdersteine.de I don't beleive it too. I looked but couldn't find it, everyone there was excited/whining about the potential UCS Falcon for 2015. Quote
hjmediastudios Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I believe the warning is just a note for assembly purposes- in many cases, there's not really a way to do some of the subsequent steps if you leave the missile in. Quote

I thought that, but I read a while ago that it doesn't affect springs at all if they're kept compressed for long periods.....I didn't notice any problem with my old Slave 1 and it was kept like that for ages! darththeling Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 You know I actually liked the new guns, not as replacements outright but a few here and there as heavy weapons, rocket launchers, etc is a nice variety. However, my problem with them is that the projectile is so small it bounces away and gets lost very easily. So I put them in a box and keep it under guard in the Star Destroyer as the Empire's experimental weapons. Planet Series 4: Never sighted in Canada (at least where I am) and I have the feeling despite what Lego said, they will never be released here. :/ Quote

I suppose I would lean toward the "whining" category too, unless a new UCS Falcon is signifigantly better/different. Sheesh it was around forever, plus they told people it was going to be discontinued. Do we really need another one? Edited February 27, 2014 by Studebricker Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 ^ I have to agree, for the most part. I can't see Lego simply re-releasing 10179 over again, but if a different version of the Falcon was released (with an interior!) I'd be all over it. Quote
LegoFjotten Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Sheesh it was around forever, plus they told people it was going to be discontinued. Do we really need another one? Of course we need another one! Just look at the price/availability of the 10179. That it was available for years doesn't help those of us who were in our dark ages at that time. What is there to whine about if more Lego fans will be able to get their hands on the most iconic SW ship in a version that does it justice without paying through the nose? That said, I strongly doubt they will just re-release the 10179. I just hope that they won't make a smaller, inferior version. Quote
Lobot Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I've probably said this before, but I hope that they do re-release the UCS Falcon (or something very similar to it). The after-market price has got to a very depressing level and it seems to have attracted a new breed of 'speculators' to Lego in general, rather than genuine fans of it. I'm not against capitalism and others funding their hobby with a few sales, but it's just getting too much for me... perhaps a tactical re-issue by Lego would be an inspired move (and limit the chaos that happened with 41999 for example!). Anyway, that's enough of a rant for today, but I'm eagerly awaiting any news about it Quote
Robert_88 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 A certain price increase is normal and even 1000 € would still be okay for the 10179 but the prices for a sealed one are ridiculous at the moment. Quote
